I had tried every version I could buy on Amazon and none of them fit. My 9 year old got me into skateboard a few years back. I recently got some decks second hand and needed trucks, bearings, and hardware too. They had everything I needed in stock for almost the same price as online. I was super stoked to get everything same day in their skate shop and also happy I found a helmet that actually fit! Got to take a look inside the park, very excited to try it out with my kids. This park has a prairie setting and features an amazing trail, some vast green space and a skate…read morepark. It is 38 acres and used to be a farmstead before being purchased by the city in 2003. The original farmstead is still being used for educational programs and is managed by Maplelawn Farmstead, Inc. There is tons of parking here spread across three sections. One near the front and skate park. The other, in the center, near the prairie, and the other near the back pavilions, playground and splash pad. This park has about 3 picnic shelters with picnic tables under it and grills right outside of it. There is a decent full court basketball court there. It is in pretty good shape. The park also features a pretty nice splash pad, however, it was closed for the season during my visit. It has a bunch of colorful spray structures and benches along the fence that parents can sit on and watch their kids splash around. The playground is lined with wood chips and has more of your traditional equipment. The equipment is in excellent shape and includes a small jungle gym, rock climbing walls, monkey bars, a bank of swings with a couple of traditional swings, toddler swings and ADA swings, a small jungle gym with slides, and a set of pebble path pods. The play ground is fenced in to keep the little ones from running off and has benches along the inside perimeter of the fence to sit. The bathroom facility is right between the splash pad and playground area. It is nice as far as bathrooms goes and is connected to a picnic shelter on the side and has an uncovered patio area with picnic tables in front of it. Your will see green space for days here. A large portion of which is lighted. It is well maintained and is multi-purpose. It can be used for most any outdoor activity including a picnic, football, soccer, playing catch, field hockey, or flying a kite. Right behind the green space is a monster hill. I saw people using it to work out while I was there, more power to them. It would make for some awesome sledding after a snow. Near the front of the park is a skate park. It is small but nice. No bike allowed, only boards. They have a small maze like fence that is made to try to prevent people from bringing bike in. Some of the stuff in the park includes a pool, stairs, rails, ramps, and other stuff that I have no idea what they are. The walking trail here is a 1 mile loop and is one of the better trails that I have been on. It is well maintained and can be used for running, jogging or walking the dog. It goes around the park's green space and hill. This is a very nice Zionsville Park. It checks all the boxes of what you would want in a park. I like this park a lot. It is well maintained and has top notch amenities. You could easily spend a day to a half of a day here.

Not unlike the witch from the film The Witch sucking the blood from a baby to maintain her youthfulness. Anyway. I had an opportunity to help pick up trash at Major Taylor Skatepark, and I jumped at the chance. To my surprise, there wasn't a whole lot of trash to pick up, because the skatepark is relatively clean. I get the feeling that the people who use the skatepark respect it and the people who use it. I saw lots of skaters out that day, from adults to toddlers, using the skatepark and having a good time. If you want to feel happy, just hang out at Major Taylor for a while. It was good to see so many people out on a nice day, being active, getting along, doing something fun together and alone all at once.

It has about 7 structures for shredding including quarter pipes, spines, flat banks, half-pyramids, hips, fly boxes, ledges, and boxes, some of which are put together into some very interesting obstacle combinations. The park's mini ramp is about 6ft. tall and approx. 8ft wide The park has an ample amount of parking spots available and unfortunately is known for severe flooding. Even though the park dates back to 2008, it looks new, because technically it is. It had to be rebuilt a couple of times due to flooding. Thank goodness for insurance. The park is also very well maintained. The obstacles are constructed of ARC-sourced prefab steel. They are very sturdy. It should also be noted that it is not lighted, nor fenced in. They also do not have restroom facilities either. There is a picnic table off to the side of the park to sit and take a break or eat some lunch. I am what you would call a poser in the skate world, but I do know a good skate park when I see it. This is a very good skate park and I like it a lot. This is a destination action park, located in the small town of Franklin, right behind the police department, that I highly recommend checking out if you are looking for a nice place to shred.

The basketball court was refinished and added sturdy end brackets for holding the backboards, cool images on the backboards, seating, and a wall mural with a basketball theme too! The restrooms were upgraded and the park was generally in great shape. But now, one of the backboards is missing and the other has the finish on the backboard damaged. What happened? Can't someone at least get a plain backboard and basket to make the court playable? Such a shame. The rest of the park seems to be in okay shape. There are lots of amenities on site: baseball field, skate park, tennis court, and on the south end, a small playground. Lots of open space and some trees for shade (other smaller ones have been planted for future shade too.) There didn't seem to be any designated parking lot for the park. There was some parking along the baseball field on the north end and some street parking. And the "shelter/restroom" is rather small, so it doesn't lend itself to be the place someone would rent. Still, if the parks department or the neighbors spent a little bit of money, the park could become a lot more functional. Review #2482
