I've been here twice now - first time the wait was ridiculously long (over an hour) but it was a Friday night and the place was getting busy. They have a great selection of games for people to play at the table which for us with kids was so nice!! Second time we ordered food to go and picked it up via boat parked under the bridge. The food both times were great - no complaints! The ceasar salad, the chicken sandwich, their Friday night fish - all good! I also tried the cherry beer but did not like it. I am not a big beer drinker so It tasted like NyQuil to me (but my MIL who is also not a beer drinker likes it) so to each their own! read more

I would give zero stars if I could. We waited over two hours for our food -- checked in multiple times, and still didn't receive it for another 30 minutes after that. Absolutely ridiculous. When we finally asked our server about it, she casually mentioned she'd "take a discount off" instead of comping the meal -- as if waiting nearly three hours for food was somehow acceptable. The lack of urgency, accountability, or even basic hospitality was astonishing. Riverstone clearly has no regard for their guests' time or experience. Save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else. read more

Beautiful space inside and love that you can see the area where the beer is brewers. Nice big tables and fun games to play- pool, darts, slots etc. the bartender was super friendly and the food and beer was fantastic. Can't wait to visit again and drive up on the boat in the summer! read more

We came here on a Wednesday around 430 Pm. There was hardly anyone in the place. The bartender Olivia was so sweet and offered my husband samples of a few beers after he asked. She made me a nice and strong margarita. We ordered the jalapeño poppers for an appetizer but for $12 I feel there should have been more of them. It is super cute inside though. Loved the ambiance. I feel that even though it is a brewery they should have more wine options. They only had Pinot Grigio and Merlot. If anything, they should have at least Prosecco in case someone wants a mimosa or just a glass of champagne. read more

What a good wonderful place. Warm welcome the moment we walked in. The view of river was nice. It was the amazing food that was the best. The brussel sprouts were absolutely delicious. Our new "best pizza in town". 6/2//24 Popped in around 5pm on a Sunday night. The bar was busy but not too many at the tables. Lots of seating in here! The night we were here they only had pizza. They are in the middle of expanding the kitchen so the menu was very limited. Anyway, pizza was very good. One size-14" was perfect for the 2 of us. Thin crispy crust, good flavor to the red sauce and the mozzarella was creamy and smooth, not greasy and chewy, like a cheese curd. Our server, Audrey, was proficient, friendly and attentive. All-in-all a positive experience! We would go back for the pizza. But be prepared for a very limited food menu. read more

We arrived just before 7:30pm. Street parking in front of the restaurant was full as was the parking lot behind it so I was not surprised when the host took our names and invited us to have a seat at the bar until our table was ready. The bartender was a bit slow in serving us and at first was unable to locate the wine my wife ordered. Perhaps he was filling in for a regular employee. After a short wait we were called to our table. Though the dining room was fairly busy there were plenty of open two-tops and four-tops. I don't mind waiting in the bar when a restaurant is truly full or if I arrive before my reservation, but I feel manipulated when directed to the bar to buy drinks when we could have been seated immediately -- and we would have ordered the same drinks to start with anyway. I realize that bar tabs are an important part of a restaurant's revenue, but so is repeat business, especially when you spend a hundred bucks on dinner for two. The appetizer menu features standard fare for the most part but two things caught my attention. First -- the offerings use a lot of Wisconsin sourced ingredients including cheeses and bacon, that is good. Second -- the most unique item was "Cindy's 'Original' Walleye Cakes, a northern version of crab cakes." We ordered the walleye cakes and enjoyed the flavor but unfortunately there wasn't much fish in them. A really good crab cake or fish cake should have just enough binder to hold the seafood and other ingredients together. As well as the binder was seasoned I want to see and taste the fish. The rest of the menu covers a lot of territory -- soups, salads, burgers, sandwiches, Mexican, pasta, risotto, stir-fry, fish, shrimp, chicken, beef, veal, pork and pizza (plus a children's menu). Obviously they are trying to provide something for everyone which is understandable in a tourist town like Eagle River. When I go out to eat I'd rather see a more focused menu where a few things are excellent than a large menu where everything is average -- at best. My wife ordered the walleye fillet with wild & brown rice and vegetable. They happily honored her request to prepare the fish without breading. I ordered Veal Wellington with a root vegetable mash and vegetable. The puff pastry was nicely browned and crispy, the veal was tender and moist, and the mushrooms and cheese brought a rich, creamy, earthiness to the dish. To finish our meal we shared a tiramisu. though it was creamy and sweet, the essential flavors of espresso and cocoa were nowhere to be found. I think most vacationers in the north woods will enjoy their meal at the Riverstone Restaurant, and I'll say that it was definitely nice to go out to a decent restaurant instead of cooking at home on a Saturday night, but my my standards, I've experienced better. read more

Waitress then tells us, it will be at least another 20 minutes before our food will even be started because they are behind. Our food was finally served, 2 hours after we arrived. Big-city fine dining tucked away in the Northwoods. There's a pub menu and a fine dining menu (as well as patio) and all are great. Customer service is perfect. Waitstaff are very attentive. The sunday brunch is a must. There is a ton of variety and something for everyone (even kids). Ambience is great. It's a must every time I am in Eagle River. If Riverstone isn't your scene check out Soda Pops in downtown Eagle River; which is owned by the same family but is more of an old fashioned soda shop and restaurant. Stopped by on a Sunday evening for dinner. Wasn't sure if the place was even open at first. Family business and the owner was a very polite man. The waitress doesn't seem to be part of the family that runs the business and was very unfamiliar with the menu, very soft spoken that it was hard to hear her and never offered us dessert and rarely stopped over at the table. The shrimp appetizers were a miss, but the fried chicken entree was okay, just a tad salty. read more

Well it looks great from the outside and in a great location right off the river. The staff is really friendly, and went out of their way to accommodate the toddler we had with us in our party. (Brought a coloring book and crayons). The wait time was weird, no one really addressed us when we walked in. The food arrived and it was less than desired. The fish fry might have been out of the freezer. The burgers were well plan, literally a patty and a bun. This place has a lot of potential: staff and location. Well ... sad to say the chef has left & the food has seriously suffered. We've been here numerous times but the last 3 times there have been flavor issues as well as improper temperature etc. even their featured tavern chicken is not great. Staffing is thin as well. The rice/corn soup which was like a chowder is now a thin copy of its former glory. Final straw was lukewarm French fries with fish after the thin soup. Really?? Very upscale for the north woods. Probably the best fine dining around. Doug you will find nicer. Owner is a great guy very personable. Very cool laid back wine bar with the best selection of fine wines around. Wine cellar is a plus. I get the veal Wellington every time. Have eaten here countless times. Highly recommend. read more

We actually were going to another restaurant but it was closed so we went to Riverstone despite spotty reviews. We're very pleased that we did as the experience was wonderful. The service was excellent, the menu showed an interesting diversity much different than the fare offered at all the area supper Clubs. All four of us were very pleased with our entrees and the wine selection is probably tops in the area. The dining room offers a comfortable ambiance and there wasn't a lengthy wait for a table. I believe they accept reservations. We certainly plan to return next year during our annual visit. read more

During that time we got to see the kitchen help grabbing fries with his bare hands from a bowl and placing them on people's meals. Came in for their last Sunday brunch of the season and it was good. As for any brunch food, it's difficult for it to be as good as if it's just coming off the stove, oven, grill, etc but it was tasty. They had breakfast selections such as Belgian waffles, baby French toast, biscuits & gravy, eggs, hash browns, bacon & sausage. Entree items included prime rib, beef stroganoff, ham, scalloped potatoes (I haven't had any in YEARS!!!), green beans & mashed potatoes and gravy. Desserts included fruit crepes, creme brûlée, tiramisu, chocolate mousse, bread pudding & a cherry cobbler. There was also salad bar. Overall, it was tasty. Came in for a burger on Sunday night. We've had great food here previously over 10-11 years. No people seated, maybe 5 total tables had customers. Ordered burgers and weren't asked how we wanted them cooked. Flagged the waiter 5 ministers after order and he said "normally he makes them all the same way, but I'll let him know you want medium". Burgers came and both were OVER well done - totally killed the flavor and burger. Should have just sent them back but didn't want to make a scene as we've been there many times. I have no professional cooking experience although I do plenty of cooking at home and I could have made a better meal for us, no exaggeration. Quite awful for $29 worth of burgers and one coffee. I have been going to Riverstone for years and love it each time I go. Yes, this is far from my normal northwoods dining establishment (bars) but a nice place to take my wife to on a date night (like we did on our anniversary this year) or even go to a nice dinner with the WHOLE family (like last week). The wine selection is always great and the food is wonderful. I especially enjoy their pizza's (yes, I know I get pizza from a fine dining establishment) and onion soup and my wife loves the cheese board. For me, fancy dining in the Northwoods generally means having mustard to go with my baloney sandwich... This place goes way beyond that, and is a perfect fine dining reward after a hard day in the grouse woods. You'll be greeted by artisan breads in their open kitchen immediately after you enter. They take their baking seriously and the bread is very, very good. They have a fantastic wine list. It's loaded with moderately priced, thoughtfully selected, popular wines; Seghesio Zinfandel, Chalone Pinot, etc. And I really appreciated their attempts to integrate local, Wisconsin foods into their menu. Rare, high quality Wisconsin cheeses were featured in several options. French onion soup was delicious. I enjoyed pork tenderloin that was perfectly prepared and actually tender- no small feat for a restaurant to pull off! My hunting buddy ordered veal served in puff pastry that looked fantastic. Food like this made me grateful I bothered to change out of my hunting clothes! Everything was seriously delicious, even by "big city" standards. It may not be exactly what I expect when I'm roughing it in the northwoods, but it's a fantastic restaurant; Eagle River has a real gourmet treat in the Riverstone Restaurant. read more

I've been coming to Eagle River for years and the restaurants around the area understandably reflect the laid back, woodsy, up north attitude that is so common in the North Woods. I have driven by Riverstone so many times thinking to myself "nah, just an overpriced attempt at fine dining in the North Woods, not possible". People kept saying it wasn't worth the money. So then one fine evening with a couple of friends...had to go in and find out for myself. Delicious. The atmosphere was great...and when you're not 3 feet deep in snow or rained out by a massive thunderstorm or simply frozen as a block of ice... the summers on the porch can offer a great dinner next to the river. The food was plentiful and not as overpriced as I would have thought; I tried several items on the menu (mostly by stealing off my friends' plates) and I think of the tastiest was the Wellington.. beef or pork, can't remember, but it was so good. Good selection of wines and beers and some mixed drinks and the deserts were awesome to finish the night. Don't shy away from this place... I'm glad I didn't read more

I took my girlfriend here for our anniversary. I have never been here and heard the prices were quite outrageous. I found that the prices were actually very reasonable. Comparable to any other nicer sit down restaurant. The atmosphere was extremely pleasant. Candles were lot and the lights were dimmed. There was plenty of waitstaff available. All the staff was very friendly. I ordered chicken Alfredo, which was very tasty, and reasonably priced. My girlfriend ordered a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and vegetables. That was also very good. I would recommend this place and we will be going back. Don't be turned off by people that say this place is overpriced, because it is not overpriced at all. read more

Food was very good, service not so much. Everyone was friendly, everything just took too long. Came in at 7:45 and sat at the bar for 30 minutes even though the dining room seemed half empty. Pushed us to make our order, didn't see our waitress for awhile (how about another drink while we're waiting?) then waited till almost closing to get our meal. Of course then they were anxious and attentive, "will there be anything else?" Very quick with the check, which makes me feeling not as generous as usual with the tip. We have a summer home in Eagle River and have been semi regular patrons of Riverstone for around 13 years. For many years, it was a go-to spot for us, at least until 2 years ago when we had a fairly unimpressive meal there. By that I mean that the food was OK but not worth the high prices they charge. Tonight we decided to give them a try again. We both ordered the baked onion soup to start and 12 oz. prime rib, medium rare as our main course. The soup was very good, hot but not scalding with plenty of cheese and onion in an extremely rich beef broth. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening. The best thing I can say about the prime rib is that it was probably 12 full ounces when it was cooked fresh. Sadly, I estimate that was around 24 to 48 hours before it was lightly warmed over and dropped on our plates. Rather than medium rare, the meat was desiccated and grey all the way through with some kind of red coloring agent brushed onto the side that was served up on the plate. Frankly, I've had better prime rib at wedding halls where they charge $15 per plate. I'm sorry to say we don't intend to go back again. Normally I'm not the type to complain. In fact I had to create a yelp account just for this but I couldn't let it go by this time. That's how disappointing this meal was. read more

This is the slowest place I have ever been to. From Order to food was 45 minutes and they were only about a third full when we placed our order. Then, boxes and bill took much longer than it should hav. Waitress was nowhere to be seen in all that wait time. Food was good great but not sure it was worth the wait! read more

We went to the Riverstone on a Thursday evening. We order 2 Prime Rib dinners, Prime Rib & Shrimp, and the 3 meat dinner dish. The 3 Meat dish was had no complaints. However, the Prime Rib dinners are another story! I ordered the Prime Rib & Shrimp, my cut of meat was not prime rib, it looked like rib-eye to all of us, It was maybe 1/4 inch thick. I have never seen prime rib that looked like this! Which was awful, when I tried cutting it my plate was moving about the table. It was not cooked to my order and was nothing but gristle! The other two Prime Rib were AWFUL! Its was like chewing an eraser, the one in the party had to go into the bathroom and throw up the bite that was caught in her throat! You chewed, chewed, and chewed, it was the worst meal I have ever had! I am not a complainer however at twenty-six to thirty dollars for one meal, you expect a good cut of meat and friendly service. The server was over the top, which was getting very irritating when you are sitting there for two hours waiting and not getting a good meal for top dollar prices! Waiting a long time for a great meal is one thing, but waiting for a long time and getting horrible meat, after asking the server how the Prime rib is, and getting the worst meat possible is completely why I am writing this review! Here is the kicker, the owner/manager, short, smaller framed Grey haired man with glasses, never one time came over to our table to say ANYTHING! OK, well we were paying customers, to your pompous Restaurant that served us the worst meal most of us have ever eaten. I hope that this review will save others from experiencing a frustrated meal and regret of wasting a chunk of money on a crappy meal! read more
