We love this place since it is so close to our grandmas house we can just ride the UTVs to it. The food here is good but me and my sister love the churros that come with Carmel, chocolate, and raspberry dipping sauce. We also love the root beer they have on tap and with a frosted mug. The service is also really good and the bartenders our so nice. The ambiance makes you feel like you have to stop here with all the old cars outside and the unique inside filled to the brim with decorations. We definitely will continue to stop here and highly recommend it. read more

Stopped in for lunch and had the peach it was just delicious along with the fries and coleslaw. Bartender/waitress knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. They also had the tasty Tribute Blueberry train wheat ale beer on tap, so good! We enjoyed the perch so much went back on Friday fir the Walleye and again not disappointed, had the baked potato this time, and of course another Blueberry beer. Staff very friendly and pleasant. On our fishing trip to Three Lakes we looked up all the local reviews and Jakes bar and grill was the one we choose to have dinner at, Three Lakes is a very small town, It's a very small tavern, full of friendly people, they made me and my son feel like locals.... My son ordered a pizza it was very good, I ordered the ribeye, it was very good also... You can't ask for much more from a small tavern..... The total was 31.50 for both of us... Now if the fishing is as good as our experience at jakes we should have a boat full of walleye by noon...... read more

The reviews you read are both good and bad. That will give you a sense of what to expect. Yes - the food can be quite excellent. And - the wait time for your entree sometimes seems like forever. Catch them on a good night - the bartenders can be fun. On a bad night - they can be disinterested and snotty. We live near Jake's and we've been eating there since it was Billy's Third Hole. I've sworn off the place a few times and then a few weeks later found myself jonesing for one of their turkey clubs; this well constructed, hand sliced, thick, freshly roasted turkey, great bacon, ripe tomatoes ... three layers so big ... open wide. The weak spot are their fries. For a restaurant that goes out of its way to customize its sandwiches they could do a much better job of sourcing fries. There are many many better options out there than off the shelf soggy rectangular French fries everyone else uses. Clearly Jake's isn't chasing their first Michelin Star. They can offer a very good up north bar experience complete with a cadre of locals sitting around the bar. Be prepared to adjust your expectations accordingly. read more

We were referred to Jake's by the owners of the ex-pizza-slingers at The Harbor. A small, dark bar, Jake's is a hidden gem. The pizza was great, square cut but not a paper-thin crust. We ordered two cheese pizzas, a pepperoni, and a veggie, and the veggie was my favorite of the bunch. The bar offers "for amusement only" video bingo, pool, and an internet jukebox. It's fortunate that they did, as it took over an hour for our food to come out. This wouldn't be a huge deal, but they really could have brought out our appetizers ahead of time instead of with the meal, and possibly brought the pizzas out as they finished cooking. Another downer was that their pitchers of soda were $7-9 (what?! I kind of think they were scamming us as younger out-of-towners) and were on the small side. It honestly would have probably been cheaper for everyone to order their own glass. In the end, though, with four pizzas, two baskets of cheese curds, and four or so pitchers of soda, it ended up being $8.50/person, including tip, and all twelve of us had plenty to eat. I'll miss The Harbor, but Jake's is a pretty good replacement. read more

Folks this is the Northwoods. You don't have to be a townie. You just have to like the best food at reasonable prices and you will have the best to your heart's desire. Sometimes it is a little crowded, but with the great food and fantastic help, its to be expected. However, with the quality of food you won't mind the wait. The walleye dinners are the best fish plates in the Northwoods. Sometimes when you read bad reviews, it tell you more about the writer then it does about Jake's. Little noisey at times, but with people having fun its to be expected. If you want quiet and lousy food there are plenty of other places to go to. If you miss out on Jake's you're only cheating yourself. The best food in the North and great people. read more

Excellent jalapeño poppers. Their food was exactly what we needed after a day on the lake. I had the quesadilla as a meal and it was very good. Their chicken tenders were also good. The main complaint I have is that their fries were not crispy and salty enough. read more

It really pains me to write this since my family and I enjoy Jake's a couple times a month but after this past weekend....yeah, we will not be back. I was told I "handled the situation completely wrong." After you read this and think I am in the wrong...please message me and let me know. This past weekend we decided to grab some small appetizers from Jakes as we do quite often. We arrive and while the bar is 1/2 full the dining area only had one other table with customers so we sit down and immediately the bartender comes to take our order. It was not a hard order: 1 personal size pizza for our almost 2 year old, a plain chicken breast for our daughter, a steak quesadilla for me and my wife to share and also a cup of soup. So we wait for a bit and the soup come out and it is very good as always. But thats where it ended... So after a hour or so we started wondering where our food was but did not say anything yet. A few minutes later we got the chicken for our daughter and the quesadilla for me and my wife to share. Please note, the pizza for our son who is almost 2 and hungry was not brought out. Ok, they should be bringing it soon right? 10 minutes go by and finally we ask the waitress/bartender where the pizza is. She responds with "oh yeah, it is coming." 10 more minutes.....my wife goes up to the bar and asks again. She said "Oh, I ruined it they are making another one" while laughing at my wife. Maybe.....you should come and tell us that? My wife asks for the check immediately as we had been there for 1 hour and 20 minutes at this time....the baby is melting, we are done with our food already and we cannot wait any longer. Before we even get the check we start putting money on the table and she comes out and says, "I took the pizza off for you guys." Really? You did that for us? Maybe you should have come out to us and let us know about the pizza ahead of time so we could have prepped for that (my assumption is she never put the pizza order in). Of course you took the pizza off because we NEVER GOT IT. Ok, so we are leaving and paid the check in full and as we are on the way out the door I catch eyes with the bartender as my son is crying in hunger and says "Thanks a lot, now I have a starving baby." It could have been left at that right? No, she come out from behind the bar and follows my family and I out the door and precedes to scream at me. Oh my god...are you kidding me? We are patrons of the place you are providing a service at and that service did not happen and you yell at me. Well, I had a few words for her about the lack of service and the wait. She responds with "then you don't come back here." Well...ok then. Maybe I should let Jake know about this....eh, whatever. We are done. Oh no we are not because in the mad rush to get out and get our kid some food I left my phone sitting on the table and don't realize it for another 20-30 minutes. Ughhhhhhh. So I return and as I walk in the bartender is standing right at the front door. I calmly ask "Did I leave my phone here?" She picks it up off the back bar, holds it up and tells me "You know you handled that situation completely wrong." Really? I did? I ask again as I was done with the whole scenario "That phone is my property, can you please give it to me." She responds with "no" and continues to lecture me about the pizza and how busy she is, and how I was an asshole etc. I sit and look at her and holy lord....she is holding my phone hostage. I finally lost it "I ONLY CARED THAT MY CHILD WAS STARVING AND LET YOU KNOW ABOUT IT AND YOU CHASED ME OUT OF THE BAR YELLING. THAT IS MY PROPERTY GIVE ME MY FUCKING PHONE." She hands me my phone, calls me some name that I cannot remember, and I leave. As I am walking out a few of the rednecks at the bar yelled something about "go back to the hole you crawled out of" or whatever. My hole? You are the ones sitting at a bar in the middle of the afternoon pounding shots. We tried to call and talk to Jake but he did not seem to care. It is amazing that such a nice place with owners that have been awesome to us in the past could be so rude or let their staff be so rude. I just wish Jake's wife could read this. Sorry Jake, you have good food, a nice little place and we love coming there but we are done till the issues are solved. read more

We love this place, but lately the service has gone down hill. The bar tenders are either talking to one another or outside the main entrance smoking. Not too classy! I had to get my own drinks three times. I should get the tip. The food takes a very long time, and has largely been marginal. We hope they can pull things together soon. I'm not going to keep accepting this and will force us to find a new place to visit. Please recognize this is a meant to be constructive criticism. read more

I just ordered 3 pizzas this evening from here and after waiting an hour and a half we pick them up get back and the cheese pizza is so black we can't eat it. When I called to just let them know to check food before sending it out, I was received with attitude and a " come back and we will fix it." This was for 5 hungry kids who aren't going to wait to eat. Honestly going back was not an option if the attitude was that much and what would I get a second time? Nice surprise! We came by boat (via the Burnt Rollways Boat Hoist) and stopped at the Sunset Grill and found it closed...the story of this trip to the Northwoods! The kind man across the street at the marina directed us to Jake's (stones throw down the road) for a bite to eat. We were warmly welcomed by Donna at the bar. True dark-wood-inviting Wisconsin bar/restaurant. Donna said our timing was great as she just finished with two huge parties. We got there about 2:30pm. Supposedly everything is delicious but Donna raved about the Reubens so we bought in. We both selected beer on tap: Spotted Cow for my husband and Lakefront IPA for me. Great service, we were soon enjoying cold beer and ample corned beef grilled sandwiches dripping with thousand island dressing, yum! Friendly chats with the locals made us feel right at home! Jake even came out and joined in the conversation. Definitely recommend! May stay at the Harbor Campground across the street on our next trip here .. Can't beat a bar and solid restaurant open 365 days/year at a "stones' throw!" read more

Went to this place on July 3rd. My in-laws have been there several times. The place was busy but not crowded. We ended up bussing our own table. We looked around and the bartenders and servers were gone into the kitchen. Jake was sitting at the bar having a drink while his customers were not taking care of. When the server finally came she said it would take an hour to get our food. We left and saw the cook outside smoking. I owned a restaurant for several years and was appalled that an owner would care that little about his customers. We will never be back read more

we have always enjoyed the pizza and rose the bartender, but one bad night will make our return not happening. 10 customers sending money on food, owners decide to let 4 people come in and and take over the entire bar. problem being music too loud with 4 people becoming very annoying to very one else. owner did not address ther issue and we will not go back again. the bar has to make a decision on what type of customer base they want to have. one that spends money on food or one that wants a loud few that spend little and will drive others away. tln read more
