This place has some really good food. They have a lunchbox collection with some very eclectic brands and characters adorning the faces of the boxes. Our server was busy and thoughtful. The biscuits and gravy were from scratch and very good. The Eagle River skillet was perfectly prepared. The corned beef hash was made from scratch and very meaty, no extra onions and potatos or skimping on the meat. The pancakes were again from scratch and delicious. If your a group of over four, there could be a significant wait due to the size of the restaurant. The staff is young and there were two servers, one of such seemed very new. There was no returns to the table to check and see if anything g was needed. The young man clearing tables was also the coffee person if a refill was needed. That meant the next time you actually saw your server was dropping off your check. Asked for well done toast and she either didn't note it or the cook didn't care as my toast was very light and hardly toasted My skillet was fantastic. It was bursting with flavor and the eggs looked bright with nice yokes in my sunny side delivery. Home fries and meats in my skillet were also good and the dish wasn't bland like so many breakfast skillets I've had. It's actually a good thing that old fashioned mom and pop diners and cafes still exist--even if the food is average at best. And it is up to us who prefer a breakfast or lunch cooked to order instead of a meal manufactured by a mega-corporate franchise to support them. Lucy's Lunchbox is one of these mom and pop style diners in the north woods community of Eagle River. We recently stopped in for a late breakfast--early lunch. I opted for biscuits and gravy with two eggs sunny side up. My wife ordered a veggie omelette with hash browns and toast. I can only comment on my meal but my wife reports that her's was fine. My eggs were well cooked and the biscuits were sufficiently "short," I.e. flaky and crumbly. The gravy and sausage were not as spicy as I like but a few dashes of Tabasco (on the table) brought some life to the dish. The portion was ample and my hunger was sated. There are many other options on the menu so I plan to return and give some of them them a try because, as I've noted, I prefer food that's cooked instead food that's manufactured. read more

Owner needs to check eyes!! I'm new to having a service animal. My animal was first certified as a support animal and as my condition got worse, dog was trained as service animal. Dog was not wrapped in any blankets, it was August for goodness sake. I was not versed in fact that my rights were violated more than what had happened. First, no one public business owner is allowed to ask for registration because there isn't one. Service animals are not registered to any government agencies. So when I got flustered for proof, the only thing I could readily find was proof of illness and need for animal. My animal was under my chair well behaved. The only thing that owner was allowed by law to ask is the following "Is the dog needed for a disability & What is the dog trained for". So in short not only was a treated horribly, my rights were violated. I'm looking forward to being in the area so I can show my animals certificate of Service. I know I don't have to by law, but I will just to show how she broke the law. First offence is $75k and double for second. NOT ALL DISABILITIES ARE VISIBLE!! Later thar day I suffered episode due to the stress and my service animal did her job. It was seen. I told the people around me what set episode in motion and they were disgusted with Lucy's Lunchbox. They witnessed the trained animal execute training. All I can say is reply from Lucy's Lunchbox is proving they have no attention to detail and need dearly to adhere to the law. Get ready for the fines from the ADA as I did report the incident. I've also filed claim with the state as well. Ownerof Lucy's Lunchbox basically humiliated a disabled citizen. read more

All the good stuff written about Lucy's is true. Tiny local hotspot you don't dare miss. Besides all the eclectic lunch boxes, the food is freshly made to order. Had basic eggs, toast & hash browns. Highly recommend the homemade muffin bread toast. Lots of butter and forget about your cholesterol for a while. Saturday morning at 10 was packed, but got a table within 10 minutes. Simply the best breakfasts I have ever had. I'm a big, well maybe big fat guy who loves diner breakfasts. Lucy's was a serendipitous finding while visiting Land O Lakes, WI. Hands down the best fried pork steak an gravy I have ever tried. Their biscuits are homemade, eggs fresh, sausage good, and potatoes whether hash or American are all wonderfull. Went to Lucys lunchbox for breakfast recently during my anniversary, my wife had two pancakes She thought they were the best pancakes she ever had! I tried them yes they are very good. You must get the ladled butter... period. You don't even need syrup it was so good we had to go two days in a row ....if you push the fork lightly down onto the pancake you can see the glistening ladled butter but it was not soaked or soggy. The first morning I have the pork fried steak breakfast with eggs and hashbrowns it could've been a little crispier but that's OK the gravy was good as well service was great bring Lucy a children's lunchbox and you'll get a free lunchbox. Very cool little diner where you can sit at the counter. Very friendly staff. Lots of regulars so you know it's good! Vintage lunch boxes decorate the windows and there are lots of other fun decorations too. I specifically went for breakfast- get the biscuits and gravy- so good! But I noticed they had pan fried walleye for $15 on the specials board. This is about 50% less than some of the restaurants in town and I would bet they make it best. read more

Adorable little breakfast place! Very small and limited tables, so I'd recommend coming early for breakfast as it was packed when we arrived. I love that they sourced from local companies. Sausage is very tasty. Unfortunately, the french toast was soggy and unimpressive. The scrambled eggs are cut up into thin squares and overcooked. I'd prefer normal scrambled eggs over these. Overall, a tasty breakfast. We will definitely come back to try their lunch menu. read more

Look past this place and your gonna miss an experience of your life you'll never get again. They literally lined the walls with antique lunchboxes minus the small size of it hints the word "lunchbox" but lemme tell ya the food was amazing wife got the country fried steak (chicken) and I got the country fried steak (pork) amazing, service was also great just a great attitude all around, bathrooms clean and nice. Wow! Tiny, quaint breakfast/lunch diner with vintage lunchboxes (hence the name!) on display. Friendly service and delicious food! Food is made to order from scratch, so don't expect a quick meal. The Corned Beef Hash was fabulous! It's made with large chunks of corned beef, cubes of potatoes and onions. Very yummy! The only disappointment was the Eggs Benedict weekend special was sold out. We stayed at the Lake Forest resort for a family vacation and needed to get some breakfast/lunch for the day. I used Yelp to see what was close and found this place. It was one of the only places that was close to us and open. It was easy to find. A really cute bright yellow restaurant. When you walk in there's a breakfast bar and more seating in the back. It seemed like a big hit with the locals. I sat at the breakfast bar and ordered food for our family. The waitress was kind of short with me. Almost as if I had annoyed her because I had to look through the menu to decide what to get everyone. They do not have their menu posted online or Yelp at all (I will post pics of the menu). After I placed my order, it was quickly made. I went to pay with my debit card and this is when she informed that they only accept cash. They do have an ATM there in the restaurant. Getting cash wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice to know they were cash only prior to ordering. It does say they accept credit cards on Yelp...We got the biscuits & gravy with a side order of American fries and 2 eggs sunny side up. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. My husband got a bacon cheeseburger w/ fries. He said the burger was awesome. My kids got the chicken fingers appetizer which came with fries. We were disappointed that the fingers were completely over cooked and not good at all. However the homemade ranch sauce was delicious. Anyway,,I guess it was Lucy that walked down looked at me and said..."COFFEE" ? I replied yes and after the coffee came she said,,"MENU"? I said yes,,she said what do you want? I gave her my order, came out in a few minutes,,she said,,"MORE COFFEE" I said yes! I guess what I'm getting at is,,,I FELT LIKE I WAS NOT WANTED OR LIKE AN INTRUDER!
