Happy to support this family owned longtime orchard and marketplace on a beautiful 70 degree day in September. The sky could not be more blue. Five varieties of already picked apples were available in a temperature controlled room that also had some fresh produce. We selected Cortland for cooking, and Honey-crisp for snacking. No bruises on the apples unlike many at market. You can also pick your own apples and several kinds were ready to pick. Several families had picked a peck or bushel and were checking out with the friendly cashier. Service was efficient and helpful. The Cider Donuts were freshly made. I had to try a cinnamon sugar one, and it was outstanding! Moist and flavorful! Much better than those at other local orchards. The market had a nice large variety of products including local honey, maple syrup, jams, beeswax candles etc. The antique stoves and a vintage Coca Cola Cooler were tastefully displayed. They added a cool vibe to the market area. We will return for pumpkins. read more

This is a pretty location and it's nice that there is no entry fee like there are at some other local orchards however I found their prices to be a bit high. I also sometimes don't end up staying as the lines are so long to check out. I won't wait 30-60 mins just to pay. Need more cashiers or places to pay. Weekends are short and I don't want to waste time in line. Apples and donuts are definitely a bit expensive. They are good though. read more

I tried to get cider donuts and apple cider at the orchards in early april before I head back to CA. Orchard is closed winter and into spring. Orchard will reopen for the fall season. Their VM provides closing dates, try to call them for opening hours before you head out. read more

My family had a great time apple picking at Riverview this weekend. A wagon will transport you out into the picking fields. There is a fun corn maze that we explored for an additional 2 dollars per person. The orchards had around 7 varieties of apples to choose from. A whole bag of apples will cost you 30 dollars. We didn't fill the bag up entirely so we got charged a fair price of 20 dollars. The farm store offers a variety of goods like honey, marinades, mustards, spreads, a candy section, pre-picked apples, cider donuts, and cider. There is plentiful seating in front of the farm store where you could sit and enjoy an apple cider donut or snack. The staff is very friendly and there is free parking. We look forward to making apple picking at Riverview Orchards a yearly tradition. read more

Riverview Orchard is a nice family-friendly orchard. We love to visit the animals out back when we first arrive. Then we pop into the store for a bag to collect our apples in. If you go on the week during apple picking season, there's a tractor hayride to take you out to the orchard. They have a limited, but delicious selection of apples to pick from. Afterwards, we go back into the store to pay for our apples. If you don't fill up your bag, they only charge you a partial amount, which is really nice! We pick out some cider, a dozen donuts, and a homemade pie. While I check out, the kids look at the bee colony inside the store. Overall, I love the non commercialization of this family farm! The prices are very reasonable, the experience is always fantastic, and the staff is always helpful and friendly. read more

There was slim pickings - picked three apples and charged $2.00 and right after another customer came up with a bag with approximately 10 apples and was charged $3.00. Where is the equity - need to actually weigh apples not eyeball the bag. Will never go again or recommend the orchard. read more

Been coming here for years. Overlooking the Mohawk River, this little orchard is just outside of Clifton Park and well worth the trip for locals of the capital district. They have plenty of applies right now (mid-Oct) and are taking COVID precautions seriously. The store has a good selection of local honeys, syrups, preserves, cider, donuts and other baked goods (they are also appropriately limiting the number of customers in the store at one time). Love this place, will continue to return every autumn. read more

They have apple butter. Need I say more. So my hubby and I went today to grab some apple butter, blackberry jam, cider and donuts. Tho the pies and fresh honeycomb were pretty tempting as well! Everyone wore a mask, and they limited capacity so we had to wait in line but it only took 5-7 minutes to get in. Parking was crazy, luckily we nabbed a spot when someone was leaving. We didn't get to check out the animals or shark because it was a bit crowded but I would go back during the week to see if the crowding was less. I'm obsessed with apple butter and I'm thrilled to have secured two jars. Only bummer to me was there were no caramel apples. Only the caramel sheets if you wanted to do it yourself, which I don't. I hope they get them in the future cause I'll deft be back. read more

Perfect, amazing fluffy apple cider donuts. I cannot rave enough about this orchard. Please go support this business. The staff are extremely friendly and their store is a wonderland. There are so many jars of goodies, including pickled goods, jams, jellies, peanut butter, and apple products! Pies, apple cider donuts, apple cider, AND popcorn! I loved everything about this store and if I had more time, I would have gone apple picking. I bought some to share with friends and coworkers, and everyone loved the donuts. Parking and bathrooms are available on site. I will definitely be back on my way back. They also have Bowman orchard's apple cider in half gallon and gallon if desired. We got the hot apple cider which was perfect with the apple cider donuts. read more

Old country store feel, welcoming staff, mouthwatering donuts! We came here on a rainy day to visit the country store and buy some apple cider donuts. The donuts are delicious and practically melt in your mouth if you purchase them warm. Half a dozen are about $5 (cheaper than Bowman's), and the guy was nice enough to throw in 2 extra free donuts in for us. The country/gift store has such an adorable old school look to it, with a wide selection of butters, honeys, and and cheeses. I also adore the selection of peanut butters they have. (The banana raisin peanut butter is the best). For the people complaining about the price for picking your own apples: This isn't Aldis... you are picking your own apples from a family owned business so except to pay a little more for the experience, otherwise take your business to the nearest chain grocery store. read more

We make a pilgrimage here a couple of times every fall, because it's an old school orchard with farm store on a scenic drive. We come these days primarily for the cider donuts -- which are decent, although not quite best of breed (get them warm) -- and we'll buy the odd extra farm product like apple butter or smoked cheese. We've been disappointed by the apples, relative to other sources, which may just be the seasons, but the prices are never that attractive to buy in bulk. The apple room does feature a nice array of varietals well past the end of the season, if you're looking for that particular heirloom or regional type for a particular dish -- but that's the only reason it might be worth the wait. We don't bother with pick-your-own here anymore: too expensive, too crowded, and parking is particularly gruesome here in apple-picking season. The particular oddity our last trip was we wanted to pick up some cider. After buying it, we looked at the label, and discovered it was a Bowman Orchards cider! (See also). Were they out of their own cider? Why not just go up the road to Bowman? Weird. read more

Not the best cider donuts around. I think I have earned the right to say that with some degree of authority. But they are certainly not bad. I was there today, and despite seeing the machine cranking out hot donuts, mine weren't even warm. Quite possibly when these are served hot they are the best around, they just weren't today. They did have some nice flavor and spice to them. I liked their sugar coating. But there was no crust at all, and they were lacking that tender doughy softness that won people's hearts at the Altamont Orchard. Regrettably a frost wiped out a bunch of the orchard's apples and they are done with picking for the season. But it's beautiful out there with a view of the river, and on the weekend they offer free hay rides. I'd take this place over Bowman any day. read more

My wife and I have been here several times to pick apples and eat donuts over the years. While the highs are high: - the donut "robot" machine is just fun to watch for a while, - the quaint country store sells some interesting candy, - the apples are tasty, and - the animals are fun to watch. The lows are low: - waiting 90 minutes for donuts because of the line, - going one year and finding out there weren't apples to pick because the weather was bad so they were already picked and in a crate to be scooped out; and - waiting outside for their food stand to open at noon, when in fact it didn't start serving food until nearly 12:30. Hit or miss, but we usually enjoy ourselves. I think it depends on when you go. When they are busy during the fall, you're in trouble! read more

We were so happy with our excellent experience! Logan was a terrific parking attendant, and there was a kind and informative man giving out bags for pickers. He quickly and clearly explained that we could fill a half bushel bag for $25, or, if we wanted less than that, $1.05 per lb. The fields are large and open. It's easy to pick and stay far away from others. I will be coming back here every year! We first tried Bowman's Orchard, but the staff was unkind. We left and were very pleased with our wonderful experience at Riverview. read more

Their donuts are great and the little shop has a quaint country store feel to it. On a busy day you will have to wait a long time for your donuts. I recently went apple picking here and felt the prices were too high, I spent $10 on a peck of apples that I could have just gotten from the grocery store for just as much money. I like to support small businesses, but when I have to do all the work to get the apples it makes me seriously question what I'm doing there. read more

This is the best place in town for cider doughnuts (a popular commodity in this area) and they also have a wide variety of other good products. Their jam and jelly selection is great, and their cider is also good. Hay rides and apple picking are fun, and the view of the Mohawk River is splendid. read more

The best hot cider donuts around. Hands down. At Indian Ladder Farms, they have a slower system so by the time you get your donuts, they are rather cold. At Riverview they are so hot and delicious. They have a cute little store where you can buy candy, honey, jellies and little knickknacks-kind of lame (Indian Ladder has a better store), but the donuts are the highlight. I don't know about the donuts but if it is pie you want this is the place! We were out for a ride today when we stopped in and my mother-in-law picked up a still warm raspberry-peach pie that we ate after dinner. The flavor of the 2 fruits balanced each other out and the light and flaky pie crust was simply the best I have ever eaten! We also purchased some delicious sounding Sweet Potato Butter and Creamy Vadalia Onion Salad Dressing which we have not tried yet. I will be definitely be making the drive back for more of their delicious pies! read more

The store is quaint and clean. This is a family owned local business that believes in supporting other local businesses. I get my maple syrup, honey, christmas trees (amongst other things) from them. I read a comment about the apples being the same price as the store...um.. isn't that a good thing? That they aren't more expensive than the store. I would rather take a special trip and enjoy this great experience at the same price as the hustle and bustle of a commercial store. read more

If you are looking for decent cider donuts and a reliable orchard, don't go here. The quality has significantly deteriorated the past few years. We've come 3 weekends in a row for pies and WARM cider donuts. There is nothing like them. The pies were overpriced meh, donuts were cold and hard, and the sugar on them tasted old and stale. Even after I asked for warm donuts, and was told they were on the way, I learned the donut maker was actually not working this morning. Worse, they were actually trying to pass off cold donuts as fresh. 3 strikes Riverview. read more

I visited the orchard back in the Fall and purchased these delicious and beautiful decorated cookies. They were so good that I decided to order an assorted cookie tray for Thanksgiving. Everyone loved them so much that at the holiday season I went in to purchase more and they did not look anything like the ones from before. Poor presentation and tasted nothing like the other cookies. Their bakery is not consistent. I had also bought chocolate caramel apples but I reccently went back after Christmas and they had none. You would think being an apple orchard that they would always have them but NO. The donuts are hit and miss. Mostly cold and old, never fresh unless you go on the weekends during the season when busy. The wait is a bit much. Prices are kind of steep and a good amount of items are not made there. You weren't allowed to pick any apples in mid October since all of the apples had been picked already. It's pretty bad when you sell another orchards cider as well. It used to be a nice place if only they had kept up with it. The one girl working came off rude and snooty and was dressed inappropriate. I'm not so sure I'll be back again. I'm disappointed in the baked items lately. Why change a good thing now! Please get your cookies back to the way they were before and maybe you wouldn't lose me as a customer. read more

The apple cider donuts are not what reviews promise. Greasy and heavy with a bitter after taste. It's not clear how this could happen except for using very poor quality and too much fat in the process. The preserves include a collection you won't find at most supermarkets, but the prices are $7.50 for a little more than a pint. And they are preserved mostly with high fructose corn syrup because it's cheaper than old fashioned sugar. The processing of high fructose corn syrup causes the glucose and fructose to be chemically separated. This permits the fructose to inject directly into the liver, which supercharges fat production in your liver, a process called lipogenesis. Additionally, chemical contaminants like chloralkali are used during manufacturing of HFCS. Chloralkai contains mercury. We didn't have the orchard picking experience, but I recommend you make your own preserves and steer the hungry kids clear of the donuts. read more
