They don't require masks. I was inside waiting in line with four other customers, and none of them were wearing masks. When I commented "why is nobody wearing masks", another customer responded "because you're in god's country". Only one of the baristas was wearing her mask properly. Every time I come here it feels like home. The staff is super friendly but not in a regular customer service way. When they ask you how your day is going you can tell they actually care and want to hear all of the details. The coffee is great too! I live in the Bay Area and have family living at the lake and one of my favorite things to do when I'm there is to go to the coffee shop in the morning. The coffee is wonderful -- try the Mexican Coffee it is my favorite -- if you are hungry there are always some goodies to eat. They keep the place very clean with an upbeat and family atmosphere. I love my coffee family and I look forward to going to Common Grounds as often as I can. Common Grounds has a dog-friendly patio with table and chairs. Okay, I've said it before but will say it again: :If ya want to get to know a new place check out their local coffee shop!" And when I say that Riviera Common Grounds has their finger on the pulse of the Riviera neighborhood... well that's just an understatement! As an author I love to go to coffee shops and sit in the corner enjoying a cup of something hot, and okay a goodie or 2 for dunking while tapping away on my laptop. People watching, researching facial expressions, body language and common phrases. Picking up local tid-bits here and there. I can usually go unnoticed while I tap away on my laptop jotting down notes and info... but the atmosphere at the Riviera Common Grounds is so bright, friendly, cheerful, and lively that, before I know it, I am usually drawn into a conversation. Never a waste of my research time, though as I always leave with lots of local info and fodder for my writing journal. As for their decor, service and menu- WONDERFUL! The owner and her daughter that manages the shop are on first name basis with their customers after almost the 1st cup is served! They offer a wide selections of beverages and goodies. If by chance you find yourself without others to converse with there are lots of reading material and puzzles & games laying around to amuse yourself while waiting for an old- or new- friend walks through the door. But you won't have to wait too long! I can honestly say, I've never been in a more friendly coffee shop. Just wish it was in my neighborhood, and was in walking distance. My partner and I stopped in this morning and ordered two drinks. We were greeted by a middle aged woman with a stone cold look on her face. I pulled out my debit card then noticed the 'CASH ONLY' wooden sign. I thought I walked into a business in 2013 but I must have been mistaken. After confirming my partner also didn't have cash I went outside to find a plywood covered hole where the ATM once was. I then went to the market next door to buy a pack of gum so I could get cash back. In the meantime the drinks were completed and the inhospitable woman looks at my partner and says, "is he going to pay for these". He told her I went to get cash. She glared and sat the drinks away from reach. I returned handed her the demanded $7.50 while receiving another glare. On the way to the car my partner told me of her tone and question. That coupled with the lack of convenience for card users and the mediocre drinks inspired me to write my first yelp review. I would suggest if you are in the need of a caffeinated beverage to pass this place and go to Studebaker's in Kelseyville or Lower Lake Coffee Co. in Lower Lake where I have always received quality service and product. read more
