I had a single scoop of the cappuccino crunch in a plain cake cone, since I didn't want to splurge on a waffle cone. The ice cream was delicious; however, when I checked out, I found the price to be outrageous. I was charged $5.49 for the one scoop of ice cream plus an additional $1.00 for the cone. With tax the total charge was $7.45 which seemed unreasonable for the least expensive cone option. I mentioned to the girl that I had not ordered the premium waffle cone, since I was holding the cone and thought maybe she wasn't able to see my plain cake cone. She said there was a separate $1 charge for a cone. I asked her to show me where that price was listed on the board, and she just stared at me. Her coworker came over and I asked him if he could show me where the up charge for a cone was listed on the prices. He said, "I don't know. It's not up there." Needless to say the price left a bad taste in my mouth. I know we are at the beach, and prices are typically higher, but that's absurd. I truly hate to call this creamery average, but it is. I tried the Damini peanut butter cup and rocky road in a cup. The rocky road tasted like ice milk. Sadly it was on top and impacted the peanut butter cup which may have been better. This was not a creamy ice cream. They state Philly style, but it's not like anything I had in Philly. The chocolate case looked amazing but didn't try anything. Wish I had to potentially salvage my overall opinion. Service was great! Be sure to tip them. I'll give the chocolate case a try, but not the ice cream. Nothing is homemade. It's Damini, Blue Bell and possibly Hershey's. Such a shame. We tried this ice cream place for the first time, and it was great! They have many different options - from ice creams to cheesecake to chocolates to coffee and so forth. I'm so glad we found this ice cream place while on vacation because it is soooo good! I gave them 5 stars because of the following: 1. Location: conveniently located near our condo; so perfect for a late night family ice cream trip. 2. Setting: they have plenty of ample seating to accommodate large groups. 3. Service: you are greeted right away when you walk in by the friendly staff standing behind the counter. They help explained the different flavors and goodies in the glass counters. They informed us that they ran out of chocolates covered strawberries for the night, but they offered to make some more if we don't mind the wait. Great customer service! 4. The candy is pretty high ~$21.50 a pound. The rolled ice cream is slightly higher than scooped at bout $8-$9. I purchased one scoop of chocolate caramel pretzel which was delicious and unique. I also returned a few days later for a chocolate shake which was really good as well. The staff are very nice and courteous. The ice cream shop was great. He had a great selection of good looking ice cream and you were able to sample it which made it even better. The owner was really nice and he was the gramps we all wish we had (especially since he had ice cream). He also gave us a history lesson on the type of ice cream he was serving. I got the raspberry chocolate truffle and it was smooth and decadent. The richness of the ice cream and the chunks of chocolate paired perfectly together. I did have to do a couple of extra laps on the beach to compensate for the Large double decker version on a waffle cone. The only thing that would have made it perfect was a couch to pass out on after eating all that. With the name Riviera Creamery I was reminded of strolling down the Promenade D'anglaise with my wife in her hometown Nice, France. Fortunately, the warm and outgoing proprietor and his lovely assistant are American. The shiny spotless shop is exquisite in a light sea blue reminiscent of the Mediterranean Sea. The experience is worth the visit alone to me providing a memory I will always cherish. I have never had a better banana split. The ice cream, handmade candies, snow cones with cane sugar are par excellent. After the delicious 2 scoop split I went back and got a snow cone. It truly delivered back my expectations. You can see the gulf out the window and they also have carbonated water on tap. It was just like any Walmart or Target brand ice cream. I would like to stress to the owners, if you're going to charge almost $5. For a single dip, it should be a large dip.
