I boarded my senior cat here for 23 days while I moved from Denver out west. Pros: - They board cats (very rare and difficult to find) - "Condos" are decent (until you bring your own bed, food bowl) - Walk-around time, where they can leave the cage and wander the room - They washed her bed when she threw up in it Cons: - ZERO updates for extended stays (unless you beg) - They advise "all of our feline guests have their own special cat condos in a dog-free section of our boarding facility to provide them a safe and relaxing personal environment." - I misunderstood and thought this meant completely separate.... it's not. There is a single door separating the rooms so the dogs continuous barking can be heard quite loudly in the cat room. - I don't know when she threw up, but they never put the bed back in the condo even after they washed it I don't know anything about the dog side, but hopefully I never need to board my cat again. read more

What a horrible experience...bringing my Dog in & being treated so poorly by the "receptionist ", I pray it wasn't the owner. I use to refer a lot of people to this kennel when Peggy owned it, but now referrals will only be Exclusive Pet Sitting LLC or Peace, Love, Pet care LLC.. Professional people who truly love the clients & respect the owners in a business like way! They should never have that crabby woman anywhere but walking dogs or cleaning kennels! Our 1.5 year old maltipoo, Honey, had her first day camp experience over the weekend while we skied Steamboat. We can't say enough about RK Pet Ranch and how well they took care of our girl. She had multiple walks, nap time, and was put into smaller play groups with well-matched dogs. Honey was not ready to leave when we picked her up at the end of the day. It is SO comforting to know that your pets are in good hands when traveling. We have 3 dogs, and have always had trouble finding a good sitter or quality boarding...RK is a high quality operation, where we know that our dogs are safe, happy, and are very well taken care of. Understanding that COVID times make for weird times, I honestly hope that my experience is not the norm as this place has many great reviews. Unfortunately, upon dropping my dogs off, we had a VERY dry person intercept them with out any sort of easing in for either the dogs or ourselves. Towards the end of the day, we had a situation which made us late to pick them up. The individual we spoke with was rude, entitled and extremely unsympathetic to the situation we were in. The clinical attitude of this person (owner?) makes me seriously question how my dogs were treated while in their care. I hope I'm wrong but in my experience dog lovers don't act that way. Steamboat has very few places to leave your dog for the day, which is why I want to start off with the fact that my basic pet sitting needs were met by RK Pet Ranch. The people that work there are great, the facility seemed nice, and they offer lots of different grooming packages you can get done during the day. They seem to tailor most of their schedule around dogs that are overnight boarders and dogs being groomed. If your dog is older, small, or lazy, chances are they would have a great time here. I, however, have a year old puppy. RK Pet Ranch only allows certain hours to drop off and pick up your dog for day camp. I was expecting my puppy to be tired after her 'full day of camp', like she is after a day at the daycare I normally take her to in Denver. She was not even slightly tired. It seems like the dogs spend around six out of the ten hours that the Pet Ranch is open in their kennels (two hours during the drop off period from 8-10am, two during the pick up period 4-6pm, and another two hour nap time during the day). It seems like the 'full day' includes a large amount of napping. Needless to say, my puppy was well rested after each day she spent there, which is not what I wanted or paid for. They charge the same prices as the daycare facilities in Denver, and seem like they give a fraction of the exercise. Each night, my puppy was craving more exercise when we would pick her up, and would take hours to get her to a level where she could relax and sleep through the night in our hotel. Honestly, we would have been better off tailoring our trip exclusively to places that are dog friendly and bringing her with us all day. They also only accept checks and cash, which isn't a big deal, but it is note worthy. Being from Denver I never even considered that they wouldn't accept cards (I don't even own a check book). We ended up having to drive all the way back to town to get cash to pay for the first day we used them. If you have an energetic dog that is used to running and playing, I would reconsider bringing them here. Again, they are great employees and they offer a lot of grooming services, but I brought my dog with me so that she wouldn't have to spend the week in a kennel. She definitely didn't have the experience that I was expecting for her. read more

RK Pet Ranch is a very special doggie day care and boarding facility!!! We love this place and trusted Haley and Tad (the people who take care of the dogs) implicitly to take care of and watch over our 2-year old Bulladore, Bentley while we skied all day and had dinner before picking him up around 6 p.m. each night. Bentley was walked twice each day, and then also placed in a playgroup with other dogs according to his temperament (and the others) to ensure a happy experience for all. On the second and third day at RK Pet Ranch, Bentley whined with excitement as we neared the facility, and jumped out of the car and ran to the front door!! I highly recommend this facility for your pet sitting needs, as we would not have been able to ski without their services and the convenience of it. It was really important for us to find a great place to take our puppy while we skied in Steamboat. After talking with Peggy at RK Pet Ranch i knew it was the right place. She was very candid with us and took amazing care of the pup. Peggy allowed us to come visit and take our little guy with us for a couple of hours. I would recommend this place to EVERYONE!! Doggie Happy - Mom Happy. I needed a place to leave Rover as my hotel originally accepted pets, later changed it's policy, but already had my money! i am very protective, as are most fur baby Moms, and I usually visit a kennel before trusting to leave my boy. In this case, I needed to leave Rover sight unseen. Haley was so attentive and detailed on the phone, that I felt comfortable with her. She accommodated my changes in drop off plans. When I arrived at her turn off, the road was solid ice, and I couldn't make the hill. She drove down, Rover jumped from my car to hers, and they were off. She sent me photos during his stay to assure me he was fine & socializing well. Upon pick up, she remembered every neurotic instruction I had given and implemented all. VERY HAPPY with RK pet ranch! We're from Kansas and ski Steamboat every year. Our condo doesn't allow pets and we hate leaving our dog behind. This year, 2010, we brought her and left her for the week at RK Pet Ranch for the first time. These people are great, love dogs and have a wonderful facility purposely designed for keeping your pet safe and happy. We will certainly use them again. They walked her several times each day and had scheduled "play" time, too. read more
