In the end, about $50,000 worth of my property was stolen from my two units, ncluding irreplaceable items from my late father and grandparents, original artwork, and a career's worth of work samples (50+ snowboards). Here's what makes this different from a random break-in: only my wife, myself, and staff knew I had these units, which were across the building from each other. I always came midweek when it was empty and never left anything of visible value in the hallways. There's no obvious way an outside thief would have known which units to target. My theory - and the detective on my case agreed it was plausible - is that I forgot to confirm my payment on their website with terrible UI one time, which sent the unit to pre-lien status. I paid the moment I got the notice, but the damage seems to have already been done. About the website, you enter your payment information and hit confirm, then you're asked to re-confirm. Who does this? I mentioned this to them once and they said they didn't want people to be double-charged. It'd be better to be double-charged than robbed blind. If you go there, you'll notice their cameras only cover the outside of the buildings - nothing inside, anywhere. Other storage facilities advertise interior cameras as a safety feature; this one doesn't have them at all. On top of that, the front gate regularly sits open for multiple cars to pass through, and the building doors themselves are usually propped open, as well - anyone can enter the property and the buildings with zero verification they're supposed to be there. Food for thought: the thieves went through every single box in one unit, but stopped abruptly a third of the way through the other, leaving thousands of dollars of stuff untouched. Why stop? Were they told to stop for some reason? Like maybe a payment cleared? When I reported it, the front desk employee was genuinely shaken for me, but the manager in back had an unmistakable "oh, sh**" look and showed zero surprise that I was there or that I'd been robbed. To make it worse: insurance requires receipts and proof of ownership for decades-old belongings, much of it from people no longer alive to help me prove what I owned - capped at $5,000 on a $50,000 loss. Two decades of trust, gone. I would not store here again, and I'd think hard before you do either. I left one star, I wish I could leave less.

Sometimes if I'm in SM I will reluctantly go in but NEVER AGAIN. Absolutely terrible customer service and attitude.
