    Happy Hoofbeats - Audra Morin

When I was looking for a farrier for two horse trims, I found Audra off NewHorse.com. She had a…read morewebsite, some pictures, and a little about her. She's young, but seemed eager to grow her business as a farrier. I called her and told her I had two draft crosses (not excessively big, only 16 hands) that need barefoot trimming. One is retired and had navicular in the past while the other is younger. I told her for our horses, we need a strong bevel to improve hoof break-over as they move (this was recommended to us by our vet years ago) and helps our horses' hooves from chipping and flaring as they grow out. She said she understood and could do this. I asked for some pictures of barefoot trims so I could get a better sense of her trim style (trimming barefoot is very different than trimming for a shoe). I asked about her prices (which were about industry average) and I asked about her availability. She said she was very busy, but could get come to us in two weeks. I said let's keep in touch via text so I could see the pictures of her work as well as finalize a trim date. After we got off the phone, she did send a single picture of a barefoot trim to show me her beveled edge. I thanked her for the text and told her that our neighbor was coming to trim my horses' feet that night as a favor, but I would like to schedule her about eight weeks out. I texted her later that afternoon asking for any additional photos she could share of her work. She never responded, so I texted her again the following afternoon and asked for additional photos as well as if we could schedule her for a future trim date. She responded that she won't take clients "with that kind of mentality" and she was already very busy. I was quite taken aback by her response. What kind of mentality is she referring to? How had I done anything wrong? I replied that my horse had chipped up very badly from running around in his pasture. He had a crack that I didn't want to run the length of his hoof and considering her next availability wasn't for another two weeks, I couldn't wait that long. I even sent her a picture of the hoof. I told her the neighbor was only helping us as a favor. Her response to my initial text, lack of consideration for whatever a future client's situation could be, and "ghosting" after she was called out is extremely unprofessional. I have never used her for her services, but if this is how she treats potential clients, I advise you to look elsewhere for a farrier. Considering it was a single phone call, I've never seen her work before in person, it doesn't seem reasonable for her to assume that I should be locked in to her as a farrier, especially if there are extenuating circumstances that require immediate attention.

Overall, you can take what you want from the education at PCHS. I leave this review because had I…read moreknown certain things, I would have preferred to give my money to a different educator. Bob calls himself a man of science, yet denies the theory of evolution. This is the most widely accepted and heavily evidenced theories in all of science. I understand that Bob is a man of faith, but it concerns me the ability to deny centuries of overwhelming scientific evidence. Science and religion can coexist surely, but the Bible is not a scientific text. It is for this reason majorly I would've preferred to fund a program with a different instructor. It is a simple matter of trust in perspective. In the first week you are entitled to a full refund if you decide the work is not for you, unfortunately for me I had already invested far and beyond the tuition. Which again is why I leave the review. It is unlikely to matter to most people, but for me if I had known I would've spent my money elsewhere. I want to fully trust the integrity of the minds I learn from. I think the instructors are wonderful, I learned what I came to learn at the end of the day. I just think for someone who is like me, other programs are likely worth the investment.

I highly recommend attending this school if you would like to start your career as a farrier off on…read morethe right track! All of the instructors are dedicated to helping their students learn and grow in a new practice. The amount of knowledge and information that is accessible at the school is jaw dropping. Take the time, sign up for the class, you won't regret it.
