    Chanteclaire Farm

    Chanteclaire Farm

Our daughter's wedding was held June 29, 2024. The venue is beautiful and well layed out. The…read morebeautiful farmhouse accommodated five couples for the bridal party, and the day of the wedding, the Bridesmaids for hair and make up. Food was delicious! Dessert was pies, and they were delicious. The after-wedding bonfire was wonderful where friends and family relaxed with a drink, s'more and snack choices (by bride and groom) provided by the venue. However, there were several issues that we encountered during the day of the wedding, primarily involving the venue's owner. I feel that Leigh Clark, owner and planner, would serve her guests better if she didn't directly deal with them. From the get-go, while trying to corral our guests to the deck area for the ceremony because of rain, she belittled them and was condescending, making facial expressions and rolling her eyes, while using a microphone.... especially for our group photo. Guests mentioned to us that the staff began clearing the hors'doerves well before the guests were called up to the reception. The first issue was with the dozens upon dozens of our homemade cookies. These were outdoors several hours before the 5 pm ceremony.... many of which became soft and crumbling due to the humidity. No food should ever be left outside, uncovered. Tables were set, and water and wine glasses (for the toast) were filled in advance.... making the sparkling wine flat and the water warm. Furthermore, not one server visited tables in my immediate view...the whole barn...to refill water or wine. Red and white wine were to be served. We were also told that the barn would "be cool, trust me," (Leigh Clark). However, one corner fan was not turned on, the other was broken, and all the windows were closed. It was a hot day made worse by no air flow. I went to reach table stains the windows and told them to open them. It did rain right before the ceremony, but there was time during the ceremony to open these windows and create a cross draft. The flow of the evening was rushed and out of order and not what we had requested. The "money" dance was done first when it was expressly stated during the planning stage that the dance must be reserved for the very end of the wedding. At that point, the bouquet and garter toss, as well as the cake cutting, happened in short order. Leigh felt the cake cutting was an insignificant part of the reception despite us saying that it has been a fun tradition in our family. We also paid to have welcome bags set up for guests to take back to their overnight accommodations. They were completely forgotten, which puts me in a predicament of what to do with them. There are no handicap parking spots and no clear parking spaces. The venue needs this desperately, especially to make easy access for the golf cart shuttles. (Gravel can be spraypainted.) Leigh and her limited staff, along with our paid photographer, thought it appropriate to sit at outdoor guest tables to eat. Staff should never take seating away from guests, especially to eat. Ever!!! Sadly, many guests came to us during the reception, informing us that Leigh was rude to them, not knowing who she was. At one point, Leigh became highly agitated with the parking situation and golf cart shuttle accessibility. She was recorded by one guest exclaiming she was "f......g done." I was also told by Leigh as she carted me to the farmhouse to retrieve a pair of shoes that if I was longer than a minute, she would leave me there and I would have to walk back. (In the heat, in my gown.) When we came in Monday to retrieve leftovers, I was told that although the soft pretzels and pepperoni rolls can leave with us, the graham crackers, marshmallows and chocolate could not because of food safety issues. With everybody touching both the pretzels and the s'mores, I couldn't see where the food safety issue came into play. We paid for these bonfire snacks and left with half of them.

I spent two years planning my wedding at Chanteclaire Farm. It was -in my humble opinion- one of…read morethe best weddings ever! When I first visited Chantelaire with my parents when we were venue shopping I immediately fell in love. The owner, Leigh, has become a friend of the family due to her playful, but firm attitude towards wedding planning. She knows all. Trust her! Her team knows how to throw one hell of a party! I worked with Caroline (day of coordinator) for about 2-3 months before the actual day. She was such a help. Chanteclaire is an all-inclusive venue, so for 1 price, you are getting the venue (a beautiful, nay, stunning historical barn set with chandeliers), a ceremony space located next to the barn over looking the pond, food (amazing), place settings, tables, chairs, linens, and they have a store room with decor that you are welcome to use, DJ, and planning services. We also had our after party here for an additional charge of a few hundred dollars. This included a massive bonfire with s'mores and they moved our alcohol outside for us. At the time, 2015 (I booked in 2015 and was married in 2017) when we booked they were able to allow BYO alcohol. I am unsure if that is still the case, but WOW did it allow us to save some $$$. The venue throws planning events twice a year once you are booked for you to tour the property, meet some vendors, do your tasting, and touch base with your planning team. At the time, they gave 6 tickets per couple which was great because it allowed each couple to bring their parents. This was incredibly helpful for us because we also threw our rehearsal dinner at Chanteclaire - to make it easy as it was an out of town wedding for our guests (and us). We also rented the two overnight properties for the weekend. One was the cabin and the other the farm house. It was so nice being able to stay close to the venue all weekend. Something to note is that the decor in the basement cocktail area space was recently redone and it is GORGEOUS! I know Leigh plans to do more renovations for the future. A few years ago they had their silo redone and converted it into a bar - it's one of the coolest bars I've ever seen. We had such a blast planning and partying all weekend long! I wish we could do it again!!!

She told us where to be and when, Orchestrated our line up for all, lit all the candles, catered the food, arranged the set up template, fixed a couple of my decorating mishaps, made sure announcements were on time, music happened, the correct songs were played, and much more!!!! I, as Mother of the Bride, got to totally observe and be with my daughter and enjoy everything!!!! I just sat back and watched it all unfold!! I first learned about For Love of Love through a close friend who worked with and raved about…read moreLauren and Ellie. My partner and I followed suit and hired For Love of Love, working closely with Ellie one-on-one for 19 months to plan and execute our wedding, which took place this past May. It's quite literally taken me three months to write this because I've struggled to put into words the effect that Ellie and her diligent, detail-oriented effort and positive, calm, encouraging demeanor (not to mention the quality of her taste/ eye for aesthetics...) had on not only the stellar outcome of the event itself but on my partner and me as humans, with little knowledge of the wedding industry, planning the most expensive event of our lives from across state lines. As creatives ourselves, we came to Ellie with lots of ideas and artistic preferences, and she helped us to get organized and translate those ideas into reality by working tirelessly to connect us with local vendors (like Olivera Floral Design, Common House, Richmond Photobooth, various rental companies and more) within our budget who understood our aesthetic, which required that Ellie truly know us as a couple. Her knowledge of the industry and best practices is extensive, and her willingness to go above and beyond for her clients is evident. Additionally, the professionalism that we experienced throughout the planning process was bar none...even in the most testing and emotional of moments involving family--Ellie's patience, positivity, and resolve were unwavering. The bottom line, booking the For Love of Love team is the best money you'll spend. Ellie and her team kept us in the know and ahead of our timeline. On the big day, we were enabled to be hands-off so that we could be as present as possible. I daresay Ellie became more than a wedding planner to us--she supported and encouraged our individualism, made light out of dark, and shared in celebrating our wins. We refuse even to consider what the day would've been like without her and the team. If you're waiting for a sign to take the plunge and hire For Love of Love--it's right here, baby!

Calling Lauren a wedding planner is an incomplete characterization. Lauren is a visionary, stylist, and strategist who is able to both design events and execute the logistics and tactics flawlessly. My husband and I (and our families) worked with Lauren for about 15 months to plan our recent Richmond, VA wedding for 170 guests at an outdoor venue. The entire process was not only painless but fun. As a super type A person, I was not sure I'd find a planning partner who would meet my micromanaging expectations. But Lauren was incredibly organized from Day 1 (I appreciate a good folder structure and Google Doc). She also made planning FUN! I was never overwhelmed, never felt uncertain on where things stood, and always was sure that Lauren and I were on the page with everything - aesthetics, budget, etc. Fast forward to wedding day, and dozens of wedding guests who had recently planned their own events raved that Lauren was the best wedding planners they'd ever seen in action. It was all perfect. She felt like family by end, and we will truly miss working with her!! Work with Lauren. Your wedding (and arguably, marriage) will be better if you do.
