The location was absolutely amazing with a nice Creek that ran through the back of the property. There were a couple concerns 1) the wifi internet worked half of the first night stay and never again. I only say this because I did not have my kids with me and if there was an emergency that's the only way to contact me. Otherwise I was ok with no service. We dined at Morgantown and shopped at grocery store there since it's close. Didn't even use the television...why would you trying to get away in a cabin stay?!?!?! The lights in the hot tub did not work, although initial inspection showed it to appear to be clean. The shower had a "damp basement" smell and probably could stand to have the curtain replaced. We enjoyed the proximity of Coppers Rock and Ravens Rock and would come stay again. It would not have been worth the website price (living social deal made it half price)

My Family had a wonderful time at Mountain Creek Cabins this past weekend. We stayed 3 nights in the Shawnee Cabin. The hot tub on the covered back deck was great! It was very clean and was already turned on and hot when we arrived. Cabin was fully equipped with everything you will need. Coffee pot, dishwasher, microwave, electric stove/oven, full size fridge and all the tableware, plates, and cups you would need. Paper products were there which included toilet paper and paper towels. 4 bath towels, 4 wash clothes, 6 pillows and clean/fresh linens also. WiFi worked good. I had to walk toward the road to make phone calls with Verizon, but I knew that going in. You are very remote in these cabins which was exactly what we were looking for. We purchased their cut firewood which is located in a small wood shed further down the hill in front of a few other cabins. Each small bundle was $5. You just put the cash in the mailbox on the side of the wood shed or the note on the fridge said you could leave the cash in your cabin upon leaving also. There is also a great 24 hour laundry area further down the hill at the end of the property. Looked like brand new washers and dryers, but we did not need to use machines this weekend. There isn't an office to check into or out at. The owners will send you the key code via email to get in which was great! There is a binder of information in the cabin which contained the owners contact info if needed. We did not have any issues at all! Everything worked great and we have absolutely no complaints at all. We would definitely stay here again. Maybe even try out a few of the other cabins. My kids already eyed up the Cougar Cabin for next time. The owners also gave a military discount which was very much appreciated! Overall, we highly recommend Mountain Creek Cabins!!

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Shawnee Cabin for Valentines Day weekend. The experience was nothing short of fantastic. We arrived on a snowy day to exactly the kind of cabin I had imagined for our mini vacation. Our cabin had a full kitchen with plates/bowls/utensils/pots/pans and basic necessities (coffee, filters, tea, sugar, creamer - though the creamer had expired in 2014 so we avoided using it, paper towels, dish soap, etc). The bathroom was full of towels and had soap provided with extra TP. There was a downstairs bedroom that we didn't use but the loft we slept in was great. The bed was really comfy and warm with clean linens folded and ready to be put on. Speaking of warm, not only was there a fireplace but also an extra heater which we appreciated since it was in the single digits during our visit. Once we settled in we ate and went straight for the hot tub. It was already on and heated to 100. It was amazing. The cabins may be in view of each other but with the few walls around the porch and vast woods you still feel secluded and your area private. Overall we had a great experience and plan to make this trip a Valentines Day tradition. My only complaints - the 2 year old creamer and the dishes weren't all clean. Most just had a bit of dust but some needed an extra washing. Nothing too bad! To address some of the complaints I've seen about these cabins: "Religious propaganda everywhere" - I don't know about other cabins, buts had barely any religious literature, only a magazine and some magnets on the fridge. There is no cell service - though this is true it shouldn't be a complaint as you're in the woods. Dirty/not hot enough hot tubs - ours was clean and hot. Dirty linens - ours were clean, did not smell of other people, and were folded and wrapped on the bedside table. To sum up our trip - I'd literally want to live in this cabin year around.

The innkeeper, Scott, knows how to make you feel at home. For breakfast, there is actually a menu where you get to choose from quite a few choices which is very rare in a b&b. Everything was delicious. He also provides snacks and wine every day in the late afternoon and there are always sweet treats like cookies and brownies available as well as coffee and teas. There is a small gift shop where they sell some Lakepoint Inn shirts, sweatshirts and mugs as well as bottles of wine. There are so many wonderful seating areas, all with views of the lake whether you want to sit in rocking chairs or comfy wicker chairs on the porch or at some bistro tables on the back patio or Adirondack chairs by the fire pit. As a free service he also offers hour long rides on his pontoon boat every morning (weather permitting), you just need to sign up. There are also kayaks and canoes available to use for free, you just need to sign a waiver. Scott is a gracious host and the Inn is wonderfully appointed, you lack for nothing. The only complaint I would have is that if you stay in the Vagabond Room, be aware that because it is on the ground floor and right beside the kitchen, you will hear people talking and the hustle and bustle of breakfast being prepared. Not a problem if you're an early riser at about 5:30. But the room was huge! And felt very luxurious with bookshelves and a seating area and fireplace. We will definitely be returning to this Inn!!!!!! I can't say enough great things! Oh, also the location is fantastic, you're near everything!

The pools and hottub are a nice touch as well! As with any place that's been around for 100+ years, you can't expect perfection. The rooms are old school and purposefully lack common modern hotel amenities - such as a microwave or fridge. I also note that my bathroom had a steady stream of little ants on the floor/sink vanity. Didn't impact my stay, but if you are looking for things to whine about you are likely to find them. I strongly recommend Summit Inn so long as you know/acknowledge that staying in a place like this will have minor drawbacks but in its totality is a unique and pleasant experience beyond a place to lay your head at night! Thanks for having me!

Also, arrive on time to check in. Don't come early and don't come too late. They won't check you in early, even just to secure your spot. come later and lose your spot, lose your money. Very old-school back asswards, "not my fault" process and policy. We went there last weekend to stay there after a wedding. We booked it online from a click through on their website. We booked a large suite with two beds and a pullout for $258. We tried to check in at noon, but they wouldn't accept us. We told them we wouldn't be there till after 10 PM and they still wouldn't accommodate. We arrived around 11 PM and tried to check in but they had already given away the large rooms so it's a good thing we didn't have my kids with us or they would've had nowhere to sleep!!! They actually told us that the booking online is not their problem, not their fault or responsibility to make right. And let's talk about that front desk service. I don't know why I had to wait so long so many times, but I did. And they did not refund us for using the smaller room. So rude. What a horrible little enterprise. the historic charm was lost on me from irritating and poor service!

There WAS a baby kangaroo in the office when we checked in/out. It was so adorable. Okay first The Suite: It was a three bedroom suite. Slept 6 people comfortably. The backyard was huge! The fire pit was a great bonus. Inside there was a fireplace that we utilized on the first night... one issue was apparently a wasp nest was inside of there so we got a few unfriendly and unwanted visitors and these wasps were HUGE! So... maybe next time they could warn us or get rid of it before hand, it was scary for me because I'm deathly allergic. Anyway, the place was clean. Smelled ok. It was stocked with towels, hair dryer, and pots/pans/cups/silverware. Across the street was a beer distributor and of course a dollar general right down the road within walking distance. THERE IS NO WIFI. Just for future reference. It wasn't a big deal but it would have maybe helped a bit. Second The Service: The people at the check in office were not the most friendly. They seemed a little annoyed with us and any questions we had. But, whatever it was fine.

The woman at the desk told me that he regularly lets the dog run loose. Overall, the experience left me extremely uncomfortable and disappointed. Yuck to all of it.
