I've mentioned before how I'm hard on bbq joints.... This review will reflect that. It is attached…read moreto Green Turtle -which has never let me down... so I had reasonable hopes. But unfortunately it's some of the worse bbq I've ever had.... Burn ends? Deep fried? No...... pull pork was slathered in a terrible sauce that I hope they got from a jar and didn't spend time making. .... Service was great though, had a cool vibe, but short of that, I'll have to go someplace else to eat. If you're from NY you'll love it, if you're from the south.... Keep driving..... if you're from Texas - don't chu dare.... Burn ends F Pulled pork D Tater tots B

I was attracted to The Nest by their promotional signage outside. Thought it was the Green Turtle…read moreInn but they are a separate restaurant and close early so I had to re-read the sign and saw that The Nest is the place for the promotions. Went in for their happy hour and ordered the smoked wings. It was a great deal for 6 good size wings for only $5. You can't get a wing for under a dollar anymore these days so I decided to try them out since they're a BBQ spot and probably smoked the wings pretty good. I was surprised to find out that they make their own blue cheese and ranch sauces. They were super good and haven't had great ranch and blue cheese sauce with a bunch of decent sized blue cheese chunks in a while. I also tried their BBQ sauce and it wasn't bad, not too sweet and pretty smokey. Great deals on a pint ($5) and pitcher ($16) of Florida Keys Brewing Co beers. I think it may even beat the actual brewery's prices. I noticed their AC was blowing pretty good and strong. It was a cooler day when I went so I got a little chilly but I'm sure that is a huge bonus when it's the hot summer time there. The bartender was busy with all the football games playing on the big TVs but she was attentive and seemed to have given me the best service she could. I was very pleased with this establishment and would like to come back again.

Wow. Great atmosphere. It seems everyone knew everyone else. An incredible menu, smoked bacon…read morefried green tomatoes BLT, brisket burgers, chicken salad, wonderful shakes, terrific fries. Great beers on tap and those prices are just perfect. I like a fancy meal once in a while but it's just too much when your down in the Keys. We're looking for a simple place that is reasonable and great. This is it. Service is terrific, menu is unique.

Stopped in with our family when on vacation. We had read the rave reviews, seen the restaurant…read morefeatured on triple D, and read the "Best Burger in Florida." The place is small and we sat at the bar. It's a cool, dive bar vibe with memorabilia on the wall. There were only a handful of others there, but the service was slow, especially considering it wasn't very crowded. It seems like the waitress was distracted and forgot about us. Eventually, we were taken care of. We all got one of their sodas and thought h they tasted good. We tried to order their award-winning fish dip, listed on the specials board, but the waitress said they were out of chips. Ok, fine -- we said "forget it" and moved onto the main course. We all ordered some variation of the Fancy Nancy, their namesake burger. It was a good burger but not the best in Florida. Not even close. The fries were frozen and nothing to write home about. Others in our party ordered the "award-winning" potato salad, which tasted pretty good. As an aside, I ordered my burger medium well, and it was cooked as desired. Everyone else ordered their burger medium and two were very pink, more like medium rare or rare. It seems like most of their awards and accolades were earned pre-COVID. We wanted to like this local spot but I have to imagine it's not what it once was.

Wowwwww!!!!…read more Apparently this is under new management now, and wow... you can absolutely tell! I've been back four times in the past week because the food is just that good. Honestly, it's a 10/10 every single time. My current favorites are the fritters, the homemade soups (always amazing), and the Shack Fried FishI'm completely obsessed! The fish dip is also incredible, and what makes it even better is that the fish is fresh, locally caught, and never frozen. You can truly taste the difference. The atmosphere is one of my favorite parts. There's a great bar area if you're coming to relax, but there's also a separate family-friendly section, so it's perfect whether I'm dining alone or bringing my kids!!!! . I've already brought five different people here, and every single one of them has loved it. The service has been outstanding every visit. Everyone is genuinely kind and welcoming, and the owner is right there working alongside the staff, making sure guests are taken care of. It's refreshing to see someone so hands-on and passionate about their restaurant. As someone who absolutely loves food, I can honestly say there hasn't been a single thing I've tried that I didn't enjoy. Great food, fresh local seafood, wonderful people, and an awesome atmosphere. This is exactly what we needed, and I'm so happy they're here. Highly recommend! I'm truly obsessed can you tell

The Shrimp Shack was a 5 out of 5 on all points. This feels more like a place the locals would eat…read moreand also has a dive bar feel to it, but WOW! The food was outstanding. We started with the shrimp fritters, then I had the BEST coconut shrimp I have truly ever eaten. It was served with a pina colada "secret sauce " that tasted like the tropics. I chose the veggie of the day which was fresh steamed yellow squash with a garlic butter seasoning and it also came with two perfectly cooked hush puppies and a small side of fantastic Cole slaw. My husband had the shrimp po boy and the breading and seasoning were perfect. The service was really good, despite them only having one server. We finished our meal with a slice of the BEST Key Lime pie ever topped with a chocolate ganache. Just GO. This is a family restaurant that has been around for years and years.
