Cute truck
Christy S.

This cute little food truck is just a short drive off of the main highway. The truck is nestled into an area with tropical foliage and some cute vacation cottages. There are a few tables for dining here, but we took our food to go. The server greeted me and took my order, and after about a 5-7 minute wait, I got my food to go. I ordered the daily special, which was 3 Al Pastor tacos and a drink. When I got to the hotel, I realized they had given us 3 fish tacos. They were still very good. Our other entree was a steak quesadilla, which was pretty good, but I had a couple of bites of gristle in the meat, which is a little off putting. The overall flavor was good. This is a good place for a quick, affordable lunch if you are in the area.

Very cute little food truck area. There is a bar which is a separate business with a time hut. I enjoyed the shrimp tacos and my husband had the carne asada tacos. 3.75 for each taco They are small so if you are hungry you will need about 4 tacos. Service was good not overly friendly.

La Isla Taco Grill is an awesome taco truck right outside of Tropical Cottages, not even 1/4 mile off of the main road. The food here was really great and the service was fast and friendly. They have a few tables you can sit at near the truck and there is an unrelated tiki bar just steps away that you could probably sit at if needed. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, steak nachos, chicken strips, and a fish taco. Everyone in the family enjoyed the food and it was fairly priced (around $13 each). If you're having issues finding it, just set your GPS for Tropical Cottages. Check out their hours because they do take a short break in the middle of the day. Definitely give this place a try if you're looking for a great food truck.

Chicken tacos

Had to try on this trip after reading the great rating on a website for good restaurants on Marathon Key. Excellent tacos! I had one fish taco and one chicken taco and my daughter had two chicken tacos. Very good! Next time will try the steak taco also. Tacos were delish! Service was quick and friendly. Will definitely go back on our next trip! Recommend!!!

Some of the best tacos and street corn I've ever had. The food truck is located next to a Tiki Bar if you want a drink. The service was quick and friendly. These are traditional Mexican tacos. Really fresh ingredients. I would say the fish tacos, with Mahi Mahi, are the best thing to order.

Small burrito

Tiny burritos, also didn't get order right--no beans or rice added. Spent $50 dollars (two people) for two burritos, side of rice and beans, one street corn and left hungry still.

i had to hit this taco truck and try it before we leave the keys this weekend. food was great idk why its not busy maybe coz they just opened when i get there. the place have seats but limited.

Food order and pickup.

What a wonderful experience. Loving the food truck vib with plenty of seating. The shrimp are so fresh they pop in your mouth. The Mai fish tacos were also a winner along with Pastor. A must try if you happen through Marathon Keys.

Our favorite (and most affordable!) taco in the keys! We stopped on the way up to Islamorada and loved it. They have plenty of seating behind the food truck with a full bar and bathroom. We got the pork and mahi tacos. Both were great and very fresh. Would definitely return.

Chicken nachos

Food truck with a tiki hut and outdoor bar next door. Look for small ground level sign off route 1, drive straight back and find gravel parking on both sides of the street. Casual vibe, authentic flavors, fresh ingredients! Fresh limeade, Jarritos soda, and crunchy toppings. The service was fast and experience enjoyable. We dined for an early dinner, I'd recommend the tacos. Nachos were made with homemade chips but the flavor is in their seasonings and salsas. Stop in for a quick meal to go, or a casual outdoor island feel. Can't go wrong!

This place is very popular so be prepared to wait as they also make their food nice and fresh!! We ordered the tacos and burritos and I preferred the burritos. I felt fuller and thought the value was great for what was paid. Plus they were quite delicious and hefty. The tacos in my opinion were not really filling to the belly. Bonus points for having outdoor seating in a nice shaded area and bathrooms onsite as well that were clean.

They have a few ceiling-mounted fans to try to keep the heat at bay. The shrimp poboy and onion rings were superb, and the wife really loved the grilled chicken sandwich and fries. Absolutely no complaints about the food or service. The cocktails left a little to be desired however; very small cups that we found lacking in flavor, but they looked tropical. Otherwise, everything was great and we'd definitely visit again.

We started with the best coconut shrimp I think I've ever had. It's the famous pink shrimp of Florida & the coconut breading was divine ! light, delicate crispy, served with a tasty mango chutney, dipping sauce, just perfection. by the way, this went perfectly with a crisp, white wine and my husband's tropical drink. Next, we had to get an order of the delish oysters Rockefeller, smothered with creamy spinach, and tons of lemon juice. Wow those gulf oysters are wonderful ! So Tender. For our main, we got the Grouper Fish Sammie's with fries & coleslaw. I had mine blackened, and my husband went with classic. The fish was so fresh and seasoned perfectly. Don't miss this gem on your way down the keys.

I recently visited Fishtails and unfortunately left quite disappointed. Given how busy the…read morerestaurant was, I had high expectations--but the experience did not match the crowd. I ordered the grouper, which is typically a highlight in the Florida Keys, but it lacked even basic seasoning and fell flat in flavor. The coleslaw was noticeably too sweet for my taste, and the potato salad included green peppers, which is an unusual choice and didn't complement the dish well. The service also left much to be desired. Our waitress was inattentive and provided very little information throughout the meal. Most concerning was that we left a significant portion of our food untouched, yet she never checked in or asked if anything was wrong--something I would expect at any restaurant, especially one as busy as this. Overall, while the atmosphere may draw a crowd, the food quality and service did not meet expectations. For comparison, I've had a far better grouper sandwich at Keys Fisheries Market & Marina, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I hope improvements can be made, as this location clearly has potential. Respond to owner, your response is your opinion, I have no reason to give bad information, if you watched your video as you stated you would have been able to see my friend and I dusguessing the food, also she never refilled our tea as frankly we didn't even drink it all. A good and attentive waitress could have mentioned that it came with coleslaw not to give two portions. It's whatever sir and if you want to get more technical, they grouper was fishy tasting and still had the dark vein line down the filet.

The service was quite slow when we got there, it took a bit to get seated even though we were the only ones waiting with numerous open tables. Once we got our table we had to ask multiple times for a kids menu and high chair, but our waitress eventually showed up and got both for us. The high chair was broken but we made it work for our little one. Our server was efficient and friendly, even though it took a bit for her to get to us. The food was good, not the best meal, but definitely good tiki bar food. I got the fish tacos which were good, and fries, they were the best part. We wanted to get dessert but there were so many flies it made us want to leave. To no fault of their own, it's unfortunate, and to be expected at an outdoor spot, but it was an overwhelming amount and we just didn't want to deal with it any longer. I think its a good spot to grab a drink on the water at the bar! Definitely brings a good vibe.

After we were seated by the hostess, we sat at our table for 20 minutes without being acknowledged. I know the time because I had a text from the time our table was ready and we were seated. I had to go back to the hostess and ask if we had a server because no one had spoken to us despite serving several tables next to us. We had ordered drinks from the bar during our 45 minute wait for a table and the server never once asked if we wanted any other drinks or water. My husband ended up going back to the bar twice more to order more drinks for us over the course of the meal. The food itself was mediocre, and for the price I would expect more scallops in the scallop dish. My daughter said her hamburger was inedible as it was an unseasoned, pre-made patty. We all agreed after tasting it. We left it uneaten, but the server never even ask how our food was after taking our order. We had to flag her down to finally get our check. It ended up being over a 3 hour meal with wait time. Ordering drinks from the bar for poolside or the beach was another torturous wait every single time. It would take no less than 20 minutes each time. On our second to last day, from where I was on the beach, I hear the bartender screaming "GET OFF THE ROCKS! THOSE NO TRESSPASSING SIGNS MEAN SOMETHING!!" I realize he's screaming at my 12 year old daughter who had no idea she couldn't climb on the jetty. She's been able to do so at every other place we went, and there are CLEARLY no "no trespassing" signs that face the beach. There are very old ones that face the interior of the restaurant, but none facing the beach where my daughter came from. She was extremely embarrassed, and my husband (who was once again waiting for our drinks at the bar) said that the bartender scared everyone in the restaurant when he screamed at her. After this I went to help him bring our drinks back to our seats, and as we walked away the bartender said "Where do you think you're going?" To which my husband responded, "What do you mean? To the beach with our drinks." And the bartender said "Well you have to pay that you know." So my husband turns back around to put down a card and lets him know that he thought he had already put down a card when he ordered nearly a half hour before. He obviously wasn't trying to "steal" drinks, and we were once again embarrassed by this extremely rude bartender, who then informed us when we was going off shift and that we had to close our check with him before that time. After that we spent no more money at this establishment. I do NOT recommend this restaurant for meals or drinks, and it frankly casts a negative pall over our entire stay despite the fact that the hotel was nice.
