My family stopped here for lunch while we spent the dinner day thrifting throughout Wasilla. It wasn't busy at the time and they had a nice large table for the 5 of us. I ordered the patty melt on sourdough. It was so good! I haven't been enjoying food taste wise or not having hunger due to my medications, so when I finally get a super tasty meal it excites me! It was very tasty, not a frozen patty! Nice grilled onions and gooey cheese. I chose sourdough over rye for preference, but it was very very good! They were out of potato salad, so I subbed fries and they were good and hot. Crispy outside and fluffy center. My mother raves about her ham and cheese omelette saying it's the best she's had in a long time. She was appreciative Roadside puts ham AND cheese inside as we've experienced a lot of places only putting the cheese on top. Affordable prices. Good portions. This is an older diner/lounge/hotel with a rustic vibe. Beautiful mounted Alaskan wildlife for those looking for the Alaskan lodge feel. When I review I focus on the food. This one's for the folks looking for a good burger. Big burger lots of meat seasoned well. They have a variety of burgers. I got the bbq cheeseburger and steak fries. The fries were perfect. The burger was excellent. The price was amazing. Can't remember going out to eat with my wife and not spending over forty dollars. We paid 20 something but left a generous tip as the food was amazing. I like that there wasn't a lot of people and the atmosphere was very relaxed as we ate and watching the traffic pass by. Would give 5 stars if there was easier access and updated inside. Although I really enjoyed the overall experience I could of used some Johnny cash or music in the background. read more

No frills but got the job done. We're on our way back from Denali heading to Anchorage and decided to stop in Wasilla for early lunch. (We got in a little after 11). Definitely a locals place, which, we prefer over chains. Very friendly waitress serving the entire room. She seemed to know the names of about half the people in there. J got two eggs fried hard, toast, home fries, and bacon. Everything was like you'd make at home - and that's not bad. Excellent thick meaty bacon. I got a BLT and fries. BLT was standard but not bad, and the fries were crisp, seasoned shoe strings. Yummy. Two meals, two sodas. $27 before tip. read more

Can't praise "The Roadside Inn" enough!!!! Across the highway from the U-Haul place. Bar/Restaurant in front, Motel/Inn in the back. Owner(Brad) is extremely nice, as is the staff. Restaurant has an OUTSTANDING MENU, moderately priced, great taste. Motel/Inn has short term (Suites) as well as Monthly rate rooms. Located between Houston and Wasilla. Close to grocery store along with gas stations. GREAT LOCATION!!!!!! The entire staff, Brad included, is customer orientated. Never seen an unhappy guest. Customer/Guest relations are second to none! When we walked in, there were only few customers so they weren't busy at all. We sat ourselves; a waitress brought us water and menus, took our drink order then informed us that OUR server would be with us shortly. Over 5 minutes later our waitress shuffled out and took our order. Then we sat and waited and waited, then waited some more. During that time another customer rushed in to join a fellow at a corner table who had been there eating, and our waitress hurried over to him, where he informed her that he had to be back on the road in 20 minutes and gave his order. Obviously he was a regular. Within moments, she had his meal out to him and we continued to wait for ours. After nearly half an hour we tossed $2 down for the iced tea, and walked out. We eat here quite often, mostly lunches. Generous amount of food, so we usually split a hamburger......which is excellent. We had dinner there tonight, absolutely excellent. Men ordered pork chops, we girls had chicken fried stead. We all had baked potatoes, and grilled vegetables. Wow, so very good. And reasonable too, $64 for dinner, no drinks, just water. read more
