Not all who wander are lost. This is the best lil gem hidden on main st. Its a older possibly historic building. That being said, spots are limited. However, they also have carry out! I've been here quite a few times as this turns out to be my one of my family's favorite spots ( I was having lunch with my son and mother, then my older brother walks in, so family lunch together.) My favorite has to be the pioneer sandwich! Its big enough for 2 to split so you can save room for their soup! I had a few different ones since I moved here to big lake, and each soup special is better then the next, I enjoyed the lemon/chicken/orzo/spinach soup yesterday... and im still thinking about it today... After all this food, since it was so light and fresh, i didn't even need a nap after. And with the breakfast sandwich's, burritos, & wonderful coffee in Wasilla! This place is becoming a needed daily experience. Your staff makes the experience of waiting like a vulture for a table so delightful. They are all doing such a great job for your business. My dad and I came here on our way to Anchorage and it was such a great stop! It's super cute outside and has such a warm and cozy vibe inside. It's a great place to stop for your morning coffee and also to get breakfast or lunch! The staff is super friendly and the service is very fast! We got the breakfast burrito and the avocado grilled cheese. Both were so cheesy and super yummy! I wish the grilled cheese had a sausage or turkey option instead of just bacon as it would make it 10x better! (I'm not a fan of pork meat) but even with it, it was delicious! I live right down the street so I'll definitely be coming back to try other things on the menu! read more

Cool café and friendly/patient first cashier, ordered a sandwich as a wrap instead of bread and was charged $1 extra for the tortilla and upcharge was not annotated on the menu behind the cashier on the wall but supposedly it was on the handheld menus; second cashier unhappily changed the price back to $16 for a wrap and chips, then turned off the fireplace infront of me without saying a word .... coincidence‽ read more

I appreciate the older building as the house this restaurant is built upon, is part of Alaska's history, this house is built back when the street in front of it was a gravel road. And Teeland mercantile was up the street from it. I remember being in the building/ house back in the 70's. So there's not a lot of space to sit down with more than maybe two-four average sized people. Because housing was built smaller back in the 60's, 50's, and 40's well you'll get my drift when you walk in. I like their drink options and they actually have a sandwich in which the pickle is your bread and I kind of found out the curious way, I accidentally ordered it thinking I would have a large slices of pickles on sandwich bread, nope I think I didn't understand the fine print. The sandwich was interesting and I wasn't even that much upset, I liked it. I just don't think I would order it again. Anyway my sister's food was great she had a nice turkey sandwich and our friend's coffee she ordered was delicious. So I think I would avoid the lunch crowd. And give your business to them owner like on their off hours. During the lunch crowd, because it's a small area it becomes cramped very quickly. So be prepared. Oh and wipe off your table for the next guy because, well the tables are slow to get cleaned by staff. You know just be kind! Clean up your space.. okay off to review the next restaurant. Oh, Wasilla you have a piece of my heart that I'll never get back. What a beautiful place! I love Wasilla as it was the home of my aunt and uncle (and cousins). The community here is amazing and spots like this share that same feel. Wandering Cafe feels like a home with good food, and comfy ambiance. I don't think there's specifically designated parking spots but I think if you don't block anyone and are mindful of the space -- you're good. Bathroom: Excellent. literally The best bathroom I've ever been to. Hands down. Even has a very cute themed bathroom and it's so thoughtful in it's amenities like the changing table. Vagabond - delicious sandwich with a huge portion. The salad it came with was great, and it was very filling. Great side chips! Breakfast burrito - you can't go wrong with a breakfast burrito -- but order them fast cuz they tend to run out! We got the last one! Great price, great service, perfect use of space, outstanding food. They have a nice, small seating area. Perfect for meeting up with a friend for a lunch date. The building doesn't allow for much parking but, there is still a good amount. In front and around back. Their clothing line is the perfect selection for a tourist! Parking was good. I got there for lunch and there was one table available. You order your food and pay first then they boring it to you. I had the vanilla chai latte which was pretty good. Highly recommend. But the cashier recommended to have the avocado on sourdough. I'm so glad I did because it was very good. Service was pretty quick. I was craving a delicious salad loaded with veggies and just a variety of goodness. I googled salad near me, wanting to try something new and different. The wandering café came up and it is was amazing, 10/10 recommend! The service was great, the lady was incredibly kind and very fast. She gave me a great recommendation in turning one of their sandwiches into a salad. The veggies were fresh and crisp. The hummus and dressing were homemade and absolutely delicious.
