Robb Field Skateboard Park is a great addition to the Robb Field Recreational area. Open from 10:00 a.m. to Dusk every day of the year, including holidays, it is a very popular and well-used site next to the San Diego River Bike Path. "With 40,000 square feet of concrete, this skate park has something for everyone, regardless of age or skill level. The "street course" design features a combination bowl, along with numerous handrails, ledges, blocks, a pump bump and an octagon volcano." There is a beginner's area -immediately next to the parking lot-with some low bowls and benches and seats for the over-protective mothers (such as myself) to sit on while they watch the kids. The younger kids can build up their skill levels and confidence before they make the big leap into the Skate Park where the real action is! The Robb Field Park is considered one of the "most awesome skateboard parks in Southern California." Robb Field is the first skateboard park constructed and operated by the City of San Diego, designed with input from top local skateboarders, such as Tony Hawk. The Robb Field Skate Park opened in February 2000, and at first charged membership and admission to use. But as the City of SD went financially-under; the employees who manned the pay booth were let go and the place now is wide open for anyone to use-with a few restrictions. What reduces the Skate Board Park down to 4 Stars from 5 Stars is the lack of upkeep the City of San Diego had foisted on this property. It is the crown jewel in San Diego Skate Parks, yet it has miserably deteriorated in upkeep. Now when I ride by on my bike-there are over-flowing trashcans, litter, grafitti, weeds galore. The many nice trees and plants are badly in need of pruning-or in some cases-are completely dead! I remember the very day this place opened-it was a really big deal for all the area kids and it's sad to see it looking now like a down-on-her-luck dowager! I have suggested to the Rock Church Beautification Ministry that they consider making this there next area of fixing up. Most of those skateboard -crazy kids don't give a hoot about the disreputable state of the park, but the parents who hang with their kids there probably do. So I will consider the 4 Stars to be a temporary evaluation and hope that the Robb Field Skate Park will see some LOVE soon and clean up nicely as a result! As long as the kids love it, skate till they drop, and stay out of trouble-it'll be A-OK with me!

Beautiful view

This is a great place to come and get your walk on for the day. It has beautiful surroundings. It was fun watching the people play beer ball. I would come back again.

This is perfect for relaxing or a picnic as it's spaced out with trees as well. Right by it is their large bathroom and outdoor shower (wash the sand off) station. A friend has mentioned she's been stuck in the bathroom before (on a different day) and was terrified because the gap at the bottom wasn't possible for her to crawl out from. So, I guess you're taking a chance with the bathrooms there. Good luck! This park is really nice because it's connected to the beach where there's a life guard or two on duty. As well as police patrolling the beach, they were really kind and great with little kids! The water wasn't as cold as I thought it would be, it was refreshing. The sand has bits and pieces of broken seashells so it may be slightly uncomfy to walk on. There's an area for swings, playground, and a few statues of sorts than can be sat on or climbed. There's a multi-use path that runs between the playground and the beach-- there will be bicycles, roller skaters, people jogging, or even just walking on it. Overall, Fanuel Street Park is a lovely spot and I'd recommend people to come here and check it out! You'd be surprised.

After we were doing doing some basic tourist-y things, I hopped on Yelp in search of a few parks located withing the vicinity. Maruta Gardner Playgound seemed to be the most entertaining and appropriate for my wild child. Parking was plentiful and the size of this particular playground was great. Not only was the look and design very unique, you really couldn't ask for a better view. Seating was plentiful and again, the design of things were so cool. Shade is easily found and the play structure is great for children + adults of all ages. Lastly, there are restrooms and water fountain located not too far. Shout out to Ms. Maruta Gardner!! My daughter and I thank you because this place wouldn't have been possible without you. Your dedications and love for your community was undeniable. Thank you for beautifying everything around you and rest in paradise. 5/5 Stars!! Definitely a must if you are in San Diego!!

We picked a spot that had a lovely tree to practice on and also our spot was very close to restrooms and parking lot and we were in the South West corner of the park! Many others in the water, some paddleboarding, some kayaking, some on boats and everyone looking like they were enjoying themselves. At the far end of this park is a marsh preserve and I will be back here to check out the birds. Parking lot was very easy, lots of spots. The park has beautiful views of the bay (you can even see the fireworks spectacular from SeaWorld). My only gripe is that the parking lot closes at 10 PM on the dot without notice. Back in the day, the park ranger would come around and notify everyone, but not this time around. We got locked inside along with 30 other vehicles! It was quite the trek to get out (had to do a little bit of off-roading, lol). Overall, it's a great place to hang out!
