Really nice park near Pacific Beach and I spent 8+ hours here today with my caving mates! We had a beach meet up here and then also practiced getting on rope ascending and down climbing here. We picked a spot that had a lovely tree to practice on and also our spot was very close to restrooms and parking lot and we were in the South West corner of the park! Lots of people coming thru here, some set up here for hours grilling, eating, hanging out. Many others in the water, some paddleboarding, some kayaking, some on boats and everyone looking like they were enjoying themselves. At the far end of this park is a marsh preserve and I will be back here to check out the birds. Parking lot was very easy, lots of spots. This is a great laid back park and totally had a wonderful day here! And at the end of the night, we were rewarded with a cool drone show at Sea World! I am definitely coming back over and over again! read more

I had not visited Crown Point, specifically the park, for some time now. It has been years since the last time I've visited, and I have to say, the point is in need of some TLC, but it is still a good spot to visit to spend a day at the bay. The park hosts a playground for children with equipment, restrooms, parking lots, fire rings, picnic tables, and a pavilion available to schedule for an event. My favorite park about the park is that the grass was very lush and green. There are many mature palm trees and regular trees too. Crown Point is a good place to come for a jog or walk as well. read more

Love coming here with the wifey for a nice walk alongside the bay, maybe even cozy up with the kidz near a kindling bon fire! This spot is located in San Diego's Mission Bay. It is a highly popular, family-friendly destination known for its calm, wave-free waters. The area is fully equipped with beach rinse-off showers, restrooms, barbecue grills, and a grassy park for the kids to enjoy. There's plenty of parking spaces. The park has beautiful views of the bay (you can even see the fireworks spectacular from SeaWorld). My only gripe is that the parking lot closes at 10 PM on the dot without notice. Back in the day, the park ranger would come around and notify everyone, but not this time around. We got locked inside along with 30 other vehicles! It was quite the trek to get out (had to do a little bit of off-roading, lol). Overall, it's a great place to hang out! read more

This park is huge - and surprisingly pretty empty on Saturdays! It's super peaceful with fresh air and plenty of open space. I usually come here with my client for her hand-cycling program, which is honestly really neat and fun to watch! There's a nice running trail, and I've seen people roller skating, biking, and jogging - overall a chill and relaxing spot to spend time outdoors. The parking lot is massive, so finding a spot is never an issue, and it's very accessible for wheelchairs and mobility aids, which is a big plus. I've also seen people host baby showers and small gatherings here, so if you're looking for an open, low-key park to throw an event, this might be the spot. Only thing to note - I injured my ankle recently, and some parts of the grass are a bit uneven, so just be cautious when walking around certain areas. Haven't tried the restrooms yet lol but I'll definitely update when I do if I have an emergency! read more

Enjoyed a day at the beach with the ohana this past weekend. The weather was awesome. Crown Point is the perfect place to gather. Lots of shade trees and plenty of area to set up. Grassy spots just steps away from the sandy beach. Want to go for a swim? Go for it! Restrooms and trash receptacles are close by. Even the Ice Cream truck has a route in the nearby parking lot if you need some ice cold treats to cool you down. Summer's here so come on down and enjoy it while you can! read more

I attended the JACL's anniversary event at Crown Point Beach in Mission Bay Park. We all ate, chatted and enjoyed the view of the sea together. This park is really beautiful. It was my granddaughter's 14th birthday party at Crown Point Beach tonight. We had a great bonfire, about 20 kids, and 16 parents enjoying what everyone thought was going to be a very cold night, but instead it was peaceful, no wind and comfortable! The kids played lots of crazy games, ate chips, Doritos, and Chex mix. Ah, then the pizza arrived, and afterwards there was a huge chocolate cake for all to enjoy!!! Well Coming to Crown Point and it is beautiful park along Mission Bay and the walk along the beach plus it gets packed here !! Lots of people gathering here for parties and special events plus it fits perfectly for the kiddos and kids love playing in the sand here . Lots of green grass and the views along the park fits perfectly with families and friends . We came here for an evening of fun and a nice walk around the park seeing people hanging out doing BBQ and having a great time , Lots of parking but it sometimes gets filled up quickly though !! Whenever I get my haircut at Belli Belli, I'll plan it so that I can take a nice long stroll around Crown Point after. The park area on the bay is so spacious and there's plenty of parking. They have nice, wide pavement paths to take you around the park and all the way down into Mission. You'll always see tons of people walking or biking the walkway. On a summer weekend, the lawn is also always full with those planning their summer parties! read more

Then a little further west is Shelter Island and Harbor Island! More popular places to stay and eat! As we drove near the bay we stopped at Crown Point to walk a path and watch the water with Seadoos and kids playing. Lots of BBQs and tables! Lots of big trees to sit under so you don't get sunburn! I moved to crown point area about 5 months ago. LOVE every day. There is always something to do. I went to the Crew Classing rowing event a few months ago. Beer and food trucks... and lots of boat races. I also love biking along the path and watching all the RVs and family's come to set up for their beach day. It's very tranquil and tropical compared to most of San Diego.... I always feel like I'm on vacation. There are several huge parking lots to accommodate parking. Trash cans and ample bathrooms and water stations. I personally do not use the public bathrooms (fortunate to live near by) ... but it is a nice option for everyone. They have 2 charcoal grilling stations and they have 10 or so bonfire pits. The parking lot closes after 10 PM so don't leave ur car... but it's perfect for bonfires at the beach. read more

I've been saving my 300th review for this place, which is near and dear to my heart. It is because of this place that I fell in love with San Diego. I was first introduced to Mission Bay Trail about 2 years ago and this is where I refound my step after going on a running haitus for 7 years. Whether it is early in the morning or late in the afternoon right around the sunset, this trail offers you an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful scene of sun and sky and the water. Parking at Crown Point Park, I typically go along the top upside down U part and so depending on the time of day, I catch a sunrise or sunset). Along the trail there are helpful markers for every quarter mile, so if you start from the park and go right, if you turn back around at Catamaran, that's almost a 4 mile run. What I like to do is go all the way to Bahia and turn around for approximately a 7 mile run. Saturday mornings around 7:30 you'll find some of the local running clubs gathered at this park for a group stretch and then a run. While the path is generally fairly active with other runners, bikers, dog walkers (I've also borrowed people's dogs just to bring them walking here), stroller pushers, or scooters - it's never really felt so congested that I got irritated. In fact, this is my go to spot when I'm having a bad day because of the calm serenity the ambience offers. My heart melts whenever I see an elderly man/woman pushing their walker on this trail and I can only aspire to be that determined and active when I get to that age. Since I've found this place I've been motivated to get back into running half marathons and with this place, there's no turning back or excuse to quit running again. read more

This was a wonderful place to have a bonfire night at. One of my girlfriends had planned this, and we managed to get a bonfire thanks to a few other girlfriends scouting out the area first. We bought our chairs and food (fried chicken, egg rolls, mac n cheese, etc), picnic blanket and such. We didn't have a problem with parking at all - it was such a huge parking lot! But we also came here on a random Thursday - but thankfully it wasn't crowded. We had a nice night after eating and conversing. The bonfire was nicely made in its stone surrounding which my girlfriend R did manage to scourge up a fire for her first time. Go R! We all gathered around the bonfire to admire the sky, one of my girlfriends P was playing her guitar - and we sat around chatted, caught up, and just had fun. There were those who went jet skiing from here and some were even fishing. Sprinklers did go off on the grass when it was night time. The only thing that we got to worry about besides the seagulls which were eyeing our food were the red ants that were all around. Apparently they had homes all around so it was hard not to feel something crawling on your skin. But disregarding that - I hopped into the showers as soon as I was home; it was a fun night at this beach location. read more

I am SOO extremely lucky that I live just blocks away from this gorgeous place! And with this insane heat that has rolled through San Diego this has been my go to spot to enjoy the sun. I am not really a big water person but with this heat the bay has been super refreshing even to just dip my feet in for a little to cool down. This place is always packed on the weekends with people but during the week it is actually pretty calm and enjoyable. I prefer to ride my bike down and pick out a not so crowded area and read a book for a little. Highly recommend coming here over summer its a great spot for the day and night! read more

My favorite running spot now that I know how to run... Sort of, you just kinda move the legs right until you get 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 miles? Anyway, I go after work and there's not too many people. But not so little that you'll feel scared or paranoid. You can park for free at Crown Point parking and head your way around the bay for a good old 5 miles. I also love the fact that they have 1/4 mile markers and those markers are pretty accurate. I wear a running watch and it matches the markers! So glad i got to join the first class this year. it was Amazing... i definitely needed this yoga for my mind & body. Nicole P. is a great instructor - she makes me feel comfortable in my skin and doing positions i never knew my body can do. Yoga on the Bay is beautiful & relaxing. Hearing the waters, winds, kids playing and just appreciating the moment. Perfect spot on crown point. A little tiny hill we place our yoga mats on where we see the view of the bay... dogs playing and birds flying. Its one of the main reasons i love Yoga on the Bay, the setting is priceless. A little gift for my mind and body. Crown Point is spacious for parties, bbq, bonfires, sports, picnic, walking, jogging, jet skiiing, etc. You don't have to worry about parking, enough space for everyone (at least that's what it looked like). My first San Diego bubble.... I lived in the area for 2 years and absolutely loved it. Cute family homes surround the area. It is a mixture of young adults and families which live in this part of town. There is a park right on the bay with plenty of green grass which is perfect for a family picnic, taking dogs for a walk, enjoying the sunshine, or to play some catch football. There are also plenty of fire pits for bonfires in the evenings. And plenty of parking which is a plus for those who come here but don't live in the area. Just across Ingraham, there is the gorgeous Sail Bay which is perfect for some beach volleyball, laying out, or taking your child to the playground. I also love to exercise on the path which starts at the Park and keeps going into Mission Beach if you go far enough. read more

This park is great for locals and tourists. It is a great place to spend relaxing and having fun with family/friends or an event. There are lots of parking spots available. What's cool about this place is they have a trail that goes around Mission Bay. You can walk it, ride your bike or your scooter. There are tons of people there with dogs. You can be at the area with grass or sand. There are spots to have bonfires. You can fly your kite there too. We even got to see a marriage proposal while walking around the trail. How cool is that! We saw these roses on the beach leading to a blanket covered in roses and a guy standing there waiting.. she came and she said yes! Everyone around was cheering. There are public bathrooms where the parking lot is and if you're planning on walking around the trail there is a bathroom in the park by Sail Bay. I've been to Crown Point a few times now. Our annual hula picnic is always held here. There's a gorgeous view of downtown San Diego in the distance. Make sure you come here early as in around 6am if you're planning on reserving an area for a picnic or event. They have public restrooms here but they're gross so try to hold it in as long as you can. There are several parking lots for Crown Point and I've never had trouble finding a spot whenever I came. read more

I love this spot. I've been running here for about 7 years. I've trained for 3 half marathons and a dozen 5K's. It's flat, safe, and most importantly, beautiful. My favorite part of the area besides the scenery are the 1/4 mile markers. Every 1/4 mile there is a white rectangle which makes it extremely convenient when calculating pace and overall distance. Great feature... I've never really BBQ'd here, I only use it for exercise, as it tends to be over crowded at the BBQ spots. However, there's always room on the boardwalk for bicycling, running, rollerblading, skateboarding, etc. Go check it out on your next run! read more

This is really the best part of Pacific Beach-especially if you are looking to exercise. Nicely maintained amenities along a great flat walking path that starts near the Kendall Frost Marsh-home of many endangered bird species. Crown Point meanders along under the Ingrahm Street bridge and ends up near the bay side frontage of the Catamaran Hotel. The entire hike is made more pleasant by the kayaks and fisherman out in Mission Bay that you can glimpse as you walk. There are masses of birds that alight upon the beach and great shells at low tide. Driving along Crown Point Shores Drive-I would hasten to add that the neighbors don't like speeders along their quiet streets. I cannot count how many times I have seen that SDPD motorcycle cop hidden along there with a radar gun. The speed limit is 30 MPH and most people drive way faster than that. The neighbors were also instrumental in getting the city to close and lock the public parking lots across the street from the residences. Apparently a few years back, some gang bangers were chillin out too much and disrupting the peace and serenity of the nearby million dollar homes. Maybe even a shooting or two might have taken place? Now a city crew shows up to lock it all down at a decent hour-which is good. Let all those crunkers go shoot it out somewhere else! Nice family-friendly scene here at Crown Point. Though the water is not the greatest for swimming in the summer-there is a very muddy bottom-it is good enough water quality here in this part of Mission Bay-to not be entirely off-limits. As other Yelp-ers have mentioned-great viewing for the nightly summer Sea World fireworks show. The only reason I took off 1 Star is that many dog-owners continue to view Crown Point as a leash-free area-which it is NOT! I hope that Animal Control or Code Enforcement shows some interest at snagging some easy citations from people who show such little respect for posted laws and environmental regulations near sensitive bird and plant habitats. read more

You can do so many things at this park. There is a great path that starts in crown point and goes along Mission Bay. Many people bike, rollerblade, walk, or run this path. If you have kids, there is a great play structure at the end of the path. There are fire pits at this location so bonfires and Seaworld firework watching are common here. There are picnic tables and grills also so there are lots of bbqs and parties held here. There is lots of grass space to play volleyball, games, or set up tents. There is tons of parking spaces! These are also some of the nicest, cleanest bathrooms I've seen in a SD county park. There are a couple of basketball courts as well. Great place to come visit all year round! read more

One of my favorite beaches. It's a long stretch a long the coastline, lots of grass, sand, and pavement. There are bathrooms, bonfire pits, and tons of parking space. Definitely a lot less crowded compared to Mission Beach / Belmont area. And it's easy going in and out, no traffic. Plenty of space for parties, bbqs, and just social gatherings. read more

What a beautiful park! Has a plenty of parking and allows you to see the amazing bay at crown point. If you enjoy biking like I recently have picked up and love to do now there is a nice bike trail to bike up and down the bay as well! Plenty of people enjoy their time with roller blading, biking, skate boarding ... Or even reading a nice book in the beautiful green grass that this park provides!
