They have a parking lot and it's not super huge but there's always street parking. In addition, the grassy area is really well kept and there is shaded spots. This is perfect for relaxing or a picnic as it's spaced out with trees as well. Right by it is their large bathroom and outdoor shower (wash the sand off) station. A friend has mentioned she's been stuck in the bathroom before (on a different day) and was terrified because the gap at the bottom wasn't possible for her to crawl out from. So, I guess you're taking a chance with the bathrooms there. Good luck! This park is really nice because it's connected to the beach where there's a life guard or two on duty. As well as police patrolling the beach, they were really kind and great with little kids! The water wasn't as cold as I thought it would be, it was refreshing. The sand has bits and pieces of broken seashells so it may be slightly uncomfy to walk on. There's an area for swings, playground, and a few statues of sorts than can be sat on or climbed. There's a multi-use path that runs between the playground and the beach-- there will be bicycles, roller skaters, people jogging, or even just walking on it. Overall, Fanuel Street Park is a lovely spot and I'd recommend people to come here and check it out! You'd be surprised. read more

Well Looking for another park to go to in San Diego well this is another one I would recommend !! It has a cool area for kids to play and the Path to run or jog around . It is perfect for all . We got here and we found parking and it was not a big parking lot but it was nice to park really close to the park . The cool looking views of Mission Bay and it does have lots of sandy areas and on the sand there is an area for beach Volleyball . As we were walking around this park it does lead you to Mission Bay . Lots of Trees and there is an area for you to relax and unwind in this green grassy area . Overall I do suggest you check this park out . We enjoyed it and shall be back !! Located really close to Pacific Beach also . read more

Love this park. I have been coming almost weekly since the past year and a half as I use this park as departure point for a long walk towards the beach area. I adore this side of the bat, super peaceful, tranquil waters, people on their paddle boards, super mellow. The park is so family oriented, a real park with the most amazing water scenery in front of you. I wish when I was a kid I had a park like this. This is such a great privilege for San Diegans! (Actually to play I had to do it at the school patio, no parks around in my childhood). Maybe that is why I value these amazing parks we have in this city and especially so well taken care of. The bathrooms are kept clean and there is quite a bit of free parking spaces. There is grass and there are trees perfect for a picnic and nap time. And of course is a great park to take pictures because is designed to make us look great! read more

It is a nice relaxing stroll that makes you appreciate San Diego in all its glory. It combines a mini beach and a park, basically something for all! read more

Definitely worth the drive and price of admission. This park is perfect for families with young children/toddlers. There is a grassy area and play park which will keep the kids busy. The cove is literally steps from here and is ideal for tanning and water sports. I plan on coming again. Parking is limited but not difficult. read more

You'll love Fanuel Street Park for its tranquillity and Bayside location. This is one of my favorite places to get a good walk in. There's nothing finer than being close to water to clear the head and just relax. The beach itself is one of the least crowded and has some of the softest sand amidst gentle, shallow waters, making this an ideal beach for children and the adults who love them. It's a great place to throw a child's birthday party or a bonfire. There's also a very large playground to entertain the kids, a volleyball net, bathrooms (with bathing suit changing abilities), and showers to wash off that sand before entering your vehicle. #leaveyoursanddonationsatthedoor I will say I have used the bathrooms, they are gender-neutral, and are a tad harsh. They have those stainless steel toilets, sans actual toilet seats so you'll have to hover. There is always plenty of toilet paper, but sometimes there is no soap in the dispensers. Tip: If you are a germaphobe like me, you always have hand sanitizer with you. At Fanuel Street Park you also have a fairly long concrete 'boardwalk', for walking, skateboarding, bicycling, riding scooters, or just for walking the dog. If you're looking for seating, there are several options, one being the half-dozen cleverly-designed concrete dolphins that you can lay your whole body into the curve of. Also there are some bench seatings for groups, placed adjacent to each other. You have the ability to have a bonfire here also, because there is a fire disposal receptacle just made for hot coals. Just remember you'll need to bring your own firewood and related supplies. Sailing, SUPing, wading and swimming are all conducive to fun because of the calm waters relative to this Bayside park. read more

This is where we spent almost our entire vacation in San Diego. This park is right on the beach on Sail Bay and kiddos can go from playing in a wave-less bay to a playground and back seamlessly. It is not a huge playground, and there isn't much to it structurally, but it's perfect and the location is unreal. The only down side is it is next to a super busy bike and running path and it's dangerous for the kiddos to cross. Other than that I can't recommend it enough. read more

I frequently visit Fanuel Street Park for its large grass area just behind the park. In fact, it's one of my favorite places to read and relax. The park is located right on the bay, creating a peaceful atmosphere and scenic experience. While I previously used the field near Pacific Beach/Taylor Library to enjoy some fresh air and a space to play games or read, it has become completely overrun by the homeless. Which has resulted in trash strewn everywhere and blatant drug use. Fanuel Street park, however, provides a large open space to enjoy on your own, with family, or friend. I often see small groups of people working out as well. There is plenty of room at Fanuel park for multiple groups of people to partake in various activities without feeling overcrowded. While the bathrooms can sometimes become quite unkempt, what else can you really expect from public restrooms. Overall, Fanuel Street Park provides a clean, safe space for everyone to enjoy! read more

This park is better than La Jolla Shores. There are showers and bathrooms. The park is located in a residential area that has is a paid parking otherwise I would park in the residential area and walk over. I thought the grounds were nice and clean with blue waters and white sands. The ocean had the rippling effect that looked cool while walking past it. It was super peaceful and calm. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There was a volleyball net where there was a game starting. The playground is the place for kids plus swings. There are people who bike ride on the side walk. There are bike racks but I would purchase a lock. A tale of two parks. The little beachside playground is awesome for parents and the groms looking to swing and climb on the sand. Idyllic San Diego #bestlife awesomeness. Now the larger grass park.... hit or miss. Could be filled with families picnicking, but it's not rare to see batches of homeless sleeping it off in the middle or up to suspect behavior (drug use, bicycle part theft) in the corner by the parking lot. At night, it belongs squarely to the homeless, some just trying to get by and use the showers/bathroom facilities, while others are divvying up what they took from unlocked cars nearby. The cops come by now and again, but it's a battle they can't seem to win with the resources given. Is it safe? During the day, completely. And usually pretty nice. It's just unfortunate what goes down there sometimes. read more

Wow this park is great! I almost didn't want to write a review so I could keep this hidden gem to myself. So you drive down the end of Fanuel and BOOM all of a sudden the street ends and the awesomeness that is this park in front of the bay begins. The parking lot is small, so you may have a hard time finding parking. There is street parking too. Things I love about this park are: 1) There is a small playground for kids (and big kids like me) and swings. 2) Individual private restrooms. A community sink area. Showers to wash off sand and the "cooties" from the bay water. 3) Benches to sit on and a grassy area where you can BBQ or have a picnic. 4) The bay is right there if you have the urge to get in the water. I saw people paddle boarding which is cool. Not only that, but there's a lifeguard station really close by. 5) It wasn't crowded at all. There was plenty of room in the grassy area and on the beach. I will definitely return here. It's a cool little spot. read more

Best kept secret! At least I have never heard of it until this past weekend. When I first stepped foot on it, I was so mesmerized by the beauty and serenity of this spot that I had to stop and take pictures very slowly before meeting my friend. It's like your own private, quiet beach. It's tucked away on a quiet side of PB right next to the "Sail Bay" portion of Mission Bay. There's quiet boating options like paddle boats and stand-up paddle boarding and canoeing. You can also just wade in the water waist deep and enjoy the tiny waves. There's a playground for the kiddies right next to the water and plenty of space for picnics and lounging. Despite being family friendly, there are no screaming kids running around. You can also just sprawl out on the sand and enjoy the shoreline which has no crowds. The view is of Ingraham bridge and the Catamaran across the water. There are also a handful of volleyball nets too for "beach" volleyball and the adjacent boardwalk for biking or jogging. The park has its own (little) parking lot that fills up fast, but you can search for parking on the nearby streets. I would love to live in one of the apartments or little homes right on the water here. Prime real estate. read more

We love this little park! Such a great place to take the little ones for some sunshine and a fantastic view of Mission Bay. There are always other cool parents here so you are sure to make some new friends. There is plenty of street parking and a smaller lot adjacent to the park. Public bathrooms and sinks are also nearby. Bring your bikinis and trunks so you can sunbathe in the sand and dip your toes in the water! If you feel like rollerblading or biking you can easily access the boardwalk too as it goes right by the park. It's great people watching too. This is the perfect fun in the sun type of place. There are volleyball nets and always plenty of room to set up for a "bay day." The water is relatively clear and warmer than the ocean! You can always find parking within a few streets. The streets that lead to the bay have unloading areas making drop off and pickup easy. This is a much better place to post up for the day than the crowded beaches of PB. And you can bring floaties to lounge in right off shore without having to deal with waves. It's also an ideal spot for paddle boarding and kayaking :) read more

Several years ago, as a woman in my mid-20's, I saw PB as the beach plus the bars that line along Garnet. Back then this park was also known as the site of the original Floatopia, a peaceful protest concerning the alcohol ban should your feet touch the sand. Solution? Drink in an inner tube. Clever. Nowadays the ODP and his GF are raising 2 young kids and little by little I'm seeing the more kid and family-friendly pockets of this lively section of San Diego. This park is right near Mission Bay and walking distance from the beach but secluded enough from the rowdy parts of PB to let your kids roam. - Bathrooms - 6 swings (2 toddler, 4 child/adult). 2 of the swings have raised platforms for younger children. - Two playgrounds (one for younger and one for older children) - Lots of sand - Run/bike path - Sculptures of various sea animals (especially dolphins) - Park benches - For the adults, volleyball court. It also makes an ideal spot to do yoga or paddle boaring. For the little kid in me, it's another opportunity to be on the swings. read more

When you start planning a family trip you Google and Yelp what and where to go. I came across this park when searching for an area with calm waters for my toddlers. I cannot begin to say how much I appreciated this park. The water was perfect for my little ones to play, waddle and sail their small boats in. The beach area was walking distance to the playground area. My son would run back and forth and we would easily watch him from the beach. We had a stroller and a mat was placed on the beach so you can bring the stroller out as close as possible to the water. So thoughtful! After the fun in the sun we were able to easily clean up in the facilities right next to the park. Happy kids=happy parents read more

PB's Hidden Gem. Having raised 3 kids in Pacific Beach, I've had to learn where to go and what to do without beaking the bank or embarking on a long journey. My wife found this park many years ago and we have been going ever since. The parking is slim and the nearby streets are usually full of resident parking, so get there before 10am if you want a spot. The good thing with the constricted parking is that the park never gets too crowded, unless a YMCA camp bus arrives and dumps 20 kids in matching t-shirts. Some joggers may park here and start their run, which takes up spots for people that actually want to use the park. Yea, I know, it's public parking. The long grass area is perfect for a game of football, throwing a ball or frisbee, or just running around. My daughter loves to climb the 2 trees that have low-angled trunks. As you get closer, you'll hear a slight clank-clank-clank of the row of sailboat lanyards getting pushed by the breeze. I've never seen those boats move, I wonder if anyone actually uses them. There are several private bathrooms, although they are typical beach style: sparse, cement, may still be wet from the daily wash-down. There are open showers so keep your drawers on. There is also a row of sinks which seems it was designed to host a party. The playset is relatively small, enough to keep about 20 kids happy. There are 4 swings, 2 of which are wheelchair accessible. We always bring a bag of sand toys and start digging and playing. In the summer it gets pretty hot and I bring an umbrella to compliment my folding chair. A bike/jog path goes right past it which is good for people watching, but ensure your little tots don't wander across it without looking. The swimming area has a few bouys to mark it from the boating section of the bay, and I've seen only a rare occasion of a boat or jet-ski encroach. The water is calm and cool with a quick slant, so small kids will need to stay within 10 feet or so of shore before they loose their footing. If you are there all day you'll see the change of waterline as the tide comes and goes. A great place to spend a warm summer day into evening and see the sunset over the beach skyline sillouted. read more

Iam trying this new fad called, uh, jogging. I believe it's 'jogging' or 'yogging.' it might be a soft j. I'm not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time! It's supposed to be wild. Apparently I should be watching less Anchorman and running more. My trainer/ demonic roomate likes to make me think I am a good runner, bless her little heart. Fanuel park is an excellent starting point if you are running around Mission Bay. If you start in the parking lot and run west around to the Bahia, and back, it's around 4 miles, maybe a little over. If you run all the way around up Ingrahm past Crown Point and make a complete circle, its 5 miles. Its never that crowded, so you can relax and not have to run around people, or move out of others way. Lots of pretty gardens and nice houses to dream about while your running, and the occasional shirtless male runner, who personally, makes me want keep my pace. I am going to take a nap now, while my roomates words still ring in my head "run bitch! ready for sprints? get those knees up! 30 more seconds!" Its a love/hate relationship :) One star off for a shitty drinking fountain. read more

What can I say? It's a park. Its on my run. start at Crown Point near my house and cruise by here. It is typically full of children due to having the playground equipment and calm waters with a life guard during the warmer season and months that warrant it. The only thing that bugs is when people stand on the walking path and block the whole thing for bikers and runners to get by. If you're going to stand around and talk be aware of people cruising by so they aren't forced into the sand where they can injure children and others or even themselves. Jogging into the uneven sand (or biking into it) and trying to get onto the sidewalk again is almost an impossible task and pretty sketchy. I do not need a twisted ankle. They have nice restrooms (for being a park) here and the view is pretty good to the south. Parking can be had in a lot to the north or the neighborhood/side streets. read more

Used to be my favorite park to exercise, walk, stroll near the water, now the bathrooms sometimes dont have soap and the grass part sometimes smells like dog feces, there are homeless people laying in the grass and a woman in the parking lot who lives in her car with her dog that harasses people. read more

Great path for an evening walk along the bay. My friend and I walked down to the Catamaran and were able to see everyone's beautiful Christmas decorations along the walk as we went. Throughout the whole walk you can see the iconic Tree lit up at Sea World across the bay which makes for some great pictures if the water and sky are clear, not to mention it adds some ambiance! If you are a parent and can take your kiddos to this park load up the trikes, bikes and scooters and go! This park offers, water fountains, shade trees, sinks to wash off feet and sticky hands, bathrooms, a little bit of grass, sand, swings, dolphins to make believe riding, turtle, and a play structure with slide. The best part is that you almost feel like you are hanging out at the beach, with the breeze, the bay, and sunshine. When the kiddos are done throwing sand and swinging. Collect your bikes and head out on this beautifully FLAT path with the kiddos. Sunscreen required and a sense of childhood :) Enjoy! A note about parking: It can be tough if you arrive while the joggers are still finishing up their run or some HUGE stroller stride gathering. There is usually parking to be found on close by streets without getting too far out. And if you find someone who has parked like crap in the lot taking up two spots .... shoot them the evil-eye for me too! read more

It's a pretty nice park considering it's maintained by the City. The park is small, but I've never seen it overcrowded. Aside from being adjacent to the sandy beach and the water of the bay, the park also has a huge grassy area as well as bathrooms. There are a few swings and a tot play structure. The only downside is that you'll have to battle for parking along the streets of PB. read more

This has it all- you can bike, 'blade, 'skate, jog, run or walk WITH beautiful homes/cottages on one side to admire (and possibly rent for the summer/winter) and the beach on the other to catch the breeze while you lay out, play frisbee/vball, go kayaking or paddle boarding. One side takes you to Mission Bay and the other takes you to Crown Point. It can get a little congested but it's called etiquette people, just move to the side if you got people behind you moving along faster and all will be well. Great beach for kids! It's a small neighborhood beach in Pacific Beach. Its at the end of a cul-de-sac. Plenty of clean bathrooms, and places to clean the sand off. Small patch of grass to sit. On a weekend - it can be hard to find parking. We lucked out by finding one right next to the park. It has a small lot and the rest of the parking can be found on residential streets. There's a Ralph's grocery story about a mile away to get any beachside snacks. We sat under a grove of palm trees on the grass. We also brought our small gas grill and bbq'd here. Beautiful view! Bayside is calmer than the ocean, so it's perfect to take little ones. We came here for a small reunion with friends who also had kids from 2 years - 14 years old. They all seemed to find something to do at this small little park. There are swings, a small play structure, and dolphin structures for kids to play in the sand. Watch out for bicyclists, runners, and in-line skaters who frequent the boardwalk pathway. It's a very long path that connects you to the ocean side part. This is also a very popular park - but it wasn't crazy with crowds. Just a side note...the police did have to come out when a man (who looked like he was tripping on drugs) made an appearance. He was swaying and was having trouble balancing. With all those kids around -a little scary for them and for us parents. Lots of SD Police descended and Park Ranger came out in what seemed like a moment's notice and took care of it, though. read more

This park is in a great location right on Mission Bay, so it's a great place for kids to play and to use the restroom. The beach itself is perfect for little kids, so calm and clean. And the walkway is perfect for running, walking, or biking. But the park itself doesn't have anything unusual to offer, just the basic playground stuff. This park doesn't have a signage, so honestly I couldn't even figure out the name of the park. I like the fact that the park has rinse off faucets, good number of bathroom stalls, and overall is decent for a public facility. But it also attracts the displaced. But they didn't approach us to ask for money and didn't bother us. read more
