I used Dr. Robbins' services for three years for the treatment of acne, annual checks for abnormalities related to sun exposure, and removal of a cyst.
This is a tricky review to write, because I have very mixed feelings about this office. Dr. Robbins is wonderful... she's caring, listens well, and is generally easy to work with. However, after several appointments with her (annual, follow up, cyst removal) I felt that the information she gave me regarding my prescriptions was a bit muddled. For instance, she first told me to use only very gentle cleansers, but the next appointment said the prescription likely wasn't working because it must be used with benzoyl peroxide cleansers. I was told once to use a product all over, then the next visit told it was for spot treatment. Truthfully, I'm still fumbling with how to use what she's prescribed. I wasn't very open with how confusing the information was, so it's partially my fault and I can't hold it against her. I definitely felt comfortable with her care. She also removed a cyst and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
However... getting past Sharon at the front desk requires quite a bit of patience. She is by far the least agreeable person I've ever dealt with at a medical office. She's beyond rude on the phone and unpleasant while in the office. Don't dare ask her for prices on procedures....she won't give them, period. On my last visit, she shuffled an elderly patient out of the office while simultaneously ordering bras over the phone from Victoria's Secret. I also had an unfortunate experience with billing when my insurance denied coverage even though they'd approved the procedure ahead of time, and gave me endless trouble. The woman handing billing at Dr. Robbins' office didn't have much sympathy for my situation and recommended I pay her immediately and get insurance sorted out later, which is not appreciated for expensive treatments. Lastly, another younger doctor was with Dr. Robbins once, and when I told her prescription sunscreen wasn't affordable since I use a tube or so a week, she said, "Well, I guess when you have a mortgage, the price of this sunscreen doesn't seem so bad." ....I was flabbergasted, and still can't understand why she thought that was an appropriate comment.
Overall, I liked Dr. Robbins but would have avoided her office if I had other options. She should seriously consider how her front desk situation is affecting her success. read more
