She performed tests immediately at the office and referred me to a further testing right cross the street in the hospital because I had Pre-eclampsia. She even came over at the hospital while nurses were monitoring the baby and me, she checked on me and informed me with all my conditions. Doctor has always been 100% right in my case. I had my baby after 3 days. I just wish I met Dr. Owens in the beginning of my pregnancy. After I got out from hospital all I wanted was to change my OBGYN and that's what I did. Now Dr. Owners is my Dr. and I am incredibly happy with her and plan on being her patient for a long time.

The nurses and check in staff are also so lovely and really make me feel welcome. Always come ready to pee! They usually want a sample even if you don't have UTI symptoms.

The person who answered the phone was more interested in my health insurance and if it was a ppo, hmo, etc. My insurance is a self funded plan through my retirement and have seen many providers, even out of state with full coverage. What was interesting is that they wouldn't look me up and was told they don't have the ability to look up health insurance coverage. What a joke, but was told that it's Dr Dunns policy. Not having the ability to look up coverage is not a policy, but rather incompetence. Please check out Dr Dunns multiple disciplinary actions from the state of Colorado department of regulatory agencies website. She's also lost her license to practice in New Mexico. The latest dispensary action from 2020 states, "after review of all the information in this matter, the Panel found that your conduct fell below the generally accepted standards of practice for a physician constituting unprofessional conduct".

My husband & I have been trying to put together a team of OB/doula/midwife for the home birth of our first baby. We found an amazing Ethiopian doula here in Denver at around 8 weeks & finally found a midwife we adore a few weeks ago. In between us meeting and hiring our doula & midwife, we scheduled an OB appointment, you know, just to see who all is out there. We scheduled an appointment with an OBGYN who I had seen was recommended in several FB groups for parents wanting black birthing professionals. The only red flag was that a few ppl said that the doctor was very judgmental...still excited for the appointment nonetheless. She was so booked up that we only got to see her at our 13 week visit because someone canceled. When I tell you that THAT was the worst doctor experience of my life. First off, she was dismissive of our questions & commentary. Her phone kept ringing, at least 3 times during the appointment & she answered it each time without so much as an excuse me. She rushed thru the ultrasound so we couldn't get a clear picture of the baby. MIND YOU, Before going into our appointment, I already knew not to share that we were planning a home birth. First because I've worked in a hospital before & second, that red flag I mentioned from earlier. My husband made the mistake of asking if we should still see her AND our midwife if we're planning a home birth. BAYBEH, she went left. Talking down on home births & how she'd never recommend anyone give birth at home & how she'd be so pissed if her husband or any of her kids even suggested it. Didn't give any facts, stats, or statistics, just her personal take on home births. Big turn off for me. Then she locked eyes with me & goes "I'd flip if my husband even suggested a home birth" as if to shift the blame to my husband & make him out to be some kind of caveman forcing me to birth at home. THEN to add insult to injury, we were supposed to do genetic testing that day. They even made SURE that I spent an hour plus on the phone with insurance to make sure the test was covered. Just for them to send us to the wrong lab where we waited for 40 minutes before they called us to come back to the office. The nurse was very sweet, but she stuck me 4 times, spilled some of my blood. JUST for us to receive an email a week later saying we needed to come in for a redraw because there wasn't enough blood sample. Long story short, my husband wouldn't start the car & leave after until I cried & vented cuz he knew how pissed I was. Thankfully, never going back. BEST DECISION EVER!!! Friendly and personable staff, professional handling of each and every patient I witnessed coming in whenever I was there, and the doctors truly care!!! Dr. McGould was my true hero all throughout my pregnancy. She honestly personally monitored me every step of the way. My twins would not have arrived as safe and healthy as they did without her!!!!

Dr. Granadillo is actually my favorite, she is always very knowledgeable for me and answers all my crazy first-time mom questions and understands that I don't know what to expect for anything. I haven't met is Dr. Lingle, which I honestly don't mind because I feel like I would personally be uncomfortable with a male doctor. The nurses also always answer the phone promptly when I call worried about something and answer my questions with no judgement. They have also worked with me after I had to change insurance after about 2 months. I went from a private insurance to Medicaid and I was very worried that I would be treated different for having medicaid, as is the case for a lot of places sadly, and I was not at all! I'm very excited to have this team for the birth of my baby girl!

I found Janet at 30…read moreweeks after I had left another midwife who I felt did not listen to my concerns about getting tested for a genetic mutation. The other midwife would not test me, even though the test was a simple blood test. I expressed my concerns to Janet and she ordered a test for me without question, even though she disagreed with me on the relevance of the mutation to pregnancy. Janet listened and eased my fears and walked me through everything I could need to know about how home births usually play out. I had told her that the birth of my son had been traumatic both physically and mentally, and she took that into consideration to make sure that both my mind and my body were cared for during labor. She took all measures necessary to make sure I did not feel violated during this labor as I had with my son. I called Janet to my house once my contractions were close together and unignorable. When she got there, my contractions came erratically and far apart. She stayed for a few hours to see if they would pick back up, and they didn't. She said "I don't think you're in labor." I said, "That's not possible." And she said, "Okay. I'll stay." It is so refreshing to have a medical professional take you seriously and BELIEVE you when you tell her about your own body. About twelve hours of erratic contractions later, Janet informed me that she thought my waters were preventing the baby from dropping down, and asked me whether it would be okay to break my waters. After a few questions, I agreed. She broke my waters and immediately I felt I had to push. Three pushes later I had my baby in my arms. Throughout the intensity of that time, Janet was there encouraging me and making sure I knew I could do it. Thanks in part to her care, I can say that that day is the most proud I've ever been of myself and I am empowered knowing that I'm capable of that degree of strength.

I utilized the Hypnobabies program during my pregnancy and birth, and I always felt like Janet did an internal eye roll anytime I mentioned it. When telling her my preferences for my birth plan, I was basically told how SHE does things and that nearly all of my choices were "wrong." So why did I continue to work with her? To put it simply, she was the only CNM in the state that did home births. Everyone else spoke so highly of her, I never understood the hype. What's worse is that the birth of my daughter took a sharp left turn, and I ultimately had to get a c-section. The level of empathy and follow-up from Janet was subpar at best...and for the hefty bill we paid for her, my dollars could've easily been better spent elsewhere. I was diagnosed with postpartum depression shortly after my daughter's birth. Janet couldn't seem to care less, and all I felt was judgment for wanting to quit breastfeeding. To get an idea for her lack of empathy, just see the attached image of the last text I ever sent to her. It was 6 weeks after my daughter's birth, and she NEVER followed up to see how I was doing or how I was handling the postpartum depression. The last I spoke to her on the phone was to collect our credit card for the final bill. By the time I was due for my 6-week postpartum check up her bill was already paid...so why bother, right?

I was worried I would not be able to get the new perception in time because it can be so difficult getting an appointment quickly at any gyno office. After explaining my situation to the staff, they were able to see me within a week. I was so unbelievably relieved. On the day of my appointment Dr.Lewis welcomed me in and the checkin process was very easy and fast. I did not wait long at all to be taken back and begin the usual Q&A process. The staff doing the pre-screening was so kind. Next, I met one on one with Dr.Lewis and what an incredible person she is. It felt like I was meeting a friend and not a doctor. While I was only there for a refill, she educated me on how my birth control works, compared it with others, and let me know so many things about how it affects my health that previously I was unaware of. Something I really loved about her and the office was the conscious effort of being sustainable and environmentally friendly. It's obvious Dr.Lewis has a passion for helping, whether it be people or the world itself. I am so thankful to have found her and her staff now that I live in this area. While I never look forward to any doctors appointments, I do look forward to seeing them all again on my next checkup.

She was delightful! Bedside manner does not get better than this. From the moment she walked in she was friendly and genuinely interested in what I had to say. She took the time to thoroughly review my medical history, and took all of the information into consideration to ensure she had a comprehensive understanding. I'd trust this woman with any health concern! So few doctors these days get to know their patients to this extent. Even with ample time for questions, I was finished and out to my car exactly one hour after my appointment time. Wow! I wish I could find a general practitioner just like her!

I initally was drawn to the idea of a home birth but with it being my first child I wasn't quite ready for that type of delivery. That led me to birth centers & I was instantly drawn to this one because it is the only licensed & accredited birth center in Colorado. I also liked that it was owned by a hospital but very seperate from that entity. I was weary that this might be some kind of scam to lure in the birth center mama's into giving birth within the hospital system but they truly allow you the freedom you'd expect from a birth center. As a first time mom, the classes they have you take are invaluable. I honestly can't believe the lack of knowledge the majority of parents have who have hospital births because classes like these aren't a requirement. They made us feel confident about the road ahead but also provided a crash course for my husband who in no way was going to read as many parenting books as I was but also knew next to nothing about childbirth. They offer group centering classes for your appointments but as an introvert we declined and stuck to traditional 1-1 midwife appointments. Pregnancy is draining enough as it is without the further drain of me having to "people" with strangers for hours every couple of weeks, not to mention the birth center was 40 minutes to an hour from our house. However, people seem to enjoy the Centering path; I'm glad they offer both types of care regardless. Finally the big day came and though no one believes me but my husband since he was actually there, the entire laboring experience was, kid you not, spa-like. Natalie & Kelly were my team for my delivery day and I could not have felt more supported, safe, and taken care of. Frankly every staff member fits this bill; my husband & I genuinely loved everyone there. Unfortunately I had to have an emergency transfer to the hospital due to meconium found when my water broke late into laboring. From the center's classes I was well educated on what would necessitate a transfer & the reasons why, so though it was unexpected I felt prepared for the turn of events & for what would happen. Even if I didn't get to give birth there, I labored from 9 AM until my transfer around 5 or 6 PM. I got to take full advantage of every tool and corner of their lovely, private rooms. Natalie even came and visited me in the hospital after I gave birth to make sure I was okay. She looked into how my birth progressed after the transfer & knew it had been my least desired outcome. I was so happy to see her not just because she'd gone out of her way to check on me but I desperately wanted her to know how much I'd enjoyed my time with them which is hard to communicate when your 9 centimeters dialated and out the door to the hospital's labor & delivery unit. 10 out of 10 fantastic process from top to bottom. Definitely consider this place even if it's a bit of a drive.

After speaking with the front office staff on three different occasions, including providing health…read moreinformation and going on an in person tour - I decided to transfer my care from my current birth center. A day after my records were transferred, a nurse called to inform me I actually didn't meet their program requirements due to facts they had prior to me transferring care. I'm now stuck in limbo as I've called my previous birth center to try to get back in but they are now reassessing because I decided to leave and have my records transferred. I'm 32 weeks pregnant and now do not have a care provider because of the negligence and unprofessional way this birth center has chosen to conduct their intake process. I understand policies must be followed, however, they had ample opportunity to make those policies clear and inform me rather than encourage me to transfer my care and then let me know I was ineligible. Again they had all the information needed to tell me I didn't meet their criteria prior to me transitioning care but chose not to let me know that until it was too late. Be very careful before you decide to entrust them with you and your baby's health - to say I'm disappointed is an incredible understatement.
