Because of the owner's response to my original review, where they said all patients should be treated with care and kept informed, I decided to give this office another chance. In the past, I was frustrated that I always had to chase them down just to get basic communication, so I hoped things would improve. Instead, when I called today to inquire about another procedure, I was told I'm "better served" elsewhere -- essentially blacklisted for speaking up about their repeated lack of follow-through. I have never been rude, disrespectful, or abusive in any way; all I did was hold them accountable for failing to communicate. Somehow, I am being punished for their mistake. I strongly feel this decision was unfair and undeserved, and I hope the owner or management sees this review and reconsiders the blacklisting. Patients should know that if they try to hold this office accountable, they could face the same treatment -- which directly contradicts the professionalism and care the owner publicly claims to value. Now, instead of being able to receive care locally in Sonoma County, I'm forced to go elsewhere, which is both disappointing and unnecessary. read more

I got a "mommy makeover" in 2016/2017. I was very detailed in my explanation as to what I was looking for but my end result never seemed to be 100%. My breast augmentation was fine other than one breast looks different and when I expressed concern i was told that they were that way prior to surgery so that's how they'd be.. I was not told this in the consultation. I was also left with dog ears after my tummy tuck. I went back in to address the dog ears and they looked slightly better afterwards but still never fixed them. I have a flat abdomen, with dog ears. After experiencing concern yet again I was told that they couldn't be completely fixed because I had soft skin where the incision is connected to my hip area where there's no fat. I was also told the the sutures were difficult to place and keep from ripping through because of my soft skin where previous stretch marks were... said I should have gotten the incision further back... I again was not told this during the consultation. I wish these possibilities were mentioned when she saw my full body at my appointments for the consult. The point of this makeover for myself was to gain confidence back... but now I was left with a new insecurity, the dog ears. I also had liposuction in a couple of areas and I can say that I saw no difference after healing. I was told that they only did a very small amount of lipo because I started bleeding and didn't have much fat... again not addressed at the consultation. Overall I will say that the experience was good. I was always treated nicely and recovery was smooth. My belly button didn't heal well either. I have a giant scar all around it. Not happy about that either. The incision for the tummy tuck is really nice, as well as the breast augmentation scar. Very small, almost non existent. read more

6 months ago I had an extended tummy tuck with lipo 360 by Dr. Culbertson. I have never been so happy with a decision I made for myself. Everyone at PSA loves what they do and it's apparent with each interaction. Keri was my patient care coordinator and was gentle and supportive when she explained that my BMI needed to be lower for my safety. We came up with a reasonable time line for me to reach a healthy weight. I actually used Emsculpt Neo (in Allegro with Martha) to help motivate me and boost my progress. Kelsey was my medical assistant and provided wonderful pre and post op care. I used the Ballancer Pro for lymphatic drainage massage both before and after my surgery and it provided wonderful relief from the swelling that is expected after surgery. I felt incredibly supported for my entire surgical journey. Now, I have never felt more confident. I got better results than I could have imagined. I have had 3 procedures over the course of 3 years and while I gave glowing reviews the first time around, I have had the worst experience this time around. It is true from the other reviews that they only prefer to work on slender and athletic bodies. It's unfortunate since every body is different and each person comes with a different situation. It was very much part of the conversation this third time around with the last procedure and I even overhead conversation about my body while I was recovering in post op that was less than favorable. I brought it to light with the practice and I feel the way they handled that part was acceptable. I know I was well overcharged on my last procedure but I also know that service oriented businesses will charge you more when they don't want the job. I felt that sting and got the excuse that prices have changed since covid and I still went for it because I trusted Dr. Canales and his team. I have referred several people to this office and I know the pricing structure well and I paid about 3-4K more than the women I referred there for the same procedure. It wasn't until months later that I realized part of what I paid for wasn't even done. Part of my procedure consisted of liposuction on my side. I had ZERO bruising whatsoever and I asked them about this. I bruise easily and I had NOTHING... and there is photographic evidence of that. They assured me it was done yet no pictures show any mark or bruising what so ever. It took me a while to realize it due to swelling and being in post-op garments. It wasn't until I was into regular garments that it was apparent and now I look disfigured. My 1 year check-in, THAT I PAID FOR, was being scheduled via email by Erica Stanley. She sent me an email on Feb 26 but I was unable to even make appts at that time because our child was in the hospital and was diagnosed with a brain tumor. I let her know and said that I couldn't even think about making this appointment at the moment. She seemed more than understanding and empathetic of my situation. She said she would circle back in June. I heard nothing. On June 22nd, I emailed HER asking if I could get that appt. I heard nothing. I emailed again on July 8th. Nothing. I then emailed Keri Penrose on August 5th asking her to help. NOTHING. Dr. Canales, your practice is no longer one that I recommend. The difference in how I was treated from the first procedure to the last one is something I would be ashamed of if I were you. As a business owner myself, I would never want our employees to treat customers in this way. It is shameful. You charged me for services that I never received and I walked away disfigured and body shamed. I have spent about 45k in services with your business and I feel you cheated me out of a fair price and services I paid for (but was unfortunately anesthetized and couldn't hold you accountable in the moment). You have an opportunity to make this right and I hope, moving forward, you provide fair treatment to women of all shapes and sizes, you perform the procedures they are actually paying for, and you train your staff to actually answer emails in a professional manner. 6 weeks ago I had a breast lift with implants and lipo around the bra area done by Dr Culbertson. From day one at my consultation, every staff member made me feel very comfortable, answered all my questions and made everything go seamlessly. Dr Culbertson heard my concerns and with his talent and expertise, gave me exactly as I asked. The morning of surgery I was extremely nervous, but the anesthesiologist and OR staff (I wish I could remember their names!) were so kind and helped calm my nerves. After surgery, recovery went as expected and I so appreciated the check-up phone calls from Dr Culbertson and Olivia to be sure everything was going okay. I would highly recommend this practice, especially Dr Culbertson! So happy with my results!! read more

Got a call back from these people who didn't even know who I was or why they called me? Apparently a family member who went to them called in light of my bad experience so they wanted to reach out-- but then completely forgot who I was or why they called. I mainly stayed quiet. I explained I had a bad experience and nothing more. I didn't give them context until later to see if they even really understood why they called. I think told them about the "BMI bs and how I was surprised that I didn't see a doctor" because again-- how do you know I'm not qualified without the doctor seeing me and the person on the phone is not a doctor. She told me the EXACT same thing the woman said last time with an added slap to the face of "I know being told to lose more weight is hard to hear"... did you seriously call me back to just rub salt in the wound? What is wrong with these damn people? DONT GO HERE. Someone on the phone *who is not a doctor* is just going to dismiss you and they do not operate on people who arent in their "BMI" (again, a nonsense criteria that most doctors denounce now because of how flawed and incorrect it is). My experience here does not echo what seems has worked for many others, so I want to be sure others know what lurks behind these walls. I've been racking my brain to understand why I received the treatment I did from Dr. Furnas and the only logical answer I can come up with is that I took a personal (work) call while alone in the waiting room. I am not going to sugar coat it, I was ruder than I prefer to be - especially with a business partner. However, I never acted unprofessionally, just curt. And, none of that had anything to do with the PSA staff other than hearing it. The waiting room was probably nice in the 90's but is dated and feels cold like the sitting room in a house no one ever uses. I was called back almost 1/2 hour after my scheduled time, I entered the consult room which felt like a dentist's office complete with plastic chair and surgical table for instruments. Nothing warm and inviting about it; little did I know the Dr. would be the same. Dr. Furnas, came in to the room for our consult. She introduced herself, asked me what I'm looking for, I told her, she put down her pencil and proceeded to tell me what a difficult procedure I would be and I should go to a specialist in San Francsico since I'm such a challenging case not anyone can do it. I came to PSA for a nose surgery consult and she claimed my nose is difficult and should be done by a specialist. I've never broken any bones, I have no breathing problems, I have clean, fresh skin, and no known medical issues. None of which Dr. Furnas asked me about. The only issue is my too large nose on my small face; there is nothing difficult about that. I did challenge why bother seeing me when she had images and she claimed in person is different. She tried claiming she was doing me a favor by outsourcing me, I don't believe that for a second. Everything about the experience left me feeling horrible; I literally felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman when she was trying to shop on Rodeo Drive. I've seen several other doctors none of which share her nasty conclusion. Quite the opposite actually, I'm the perfect candidate considering my medical history is clean and I have good skin. I am thankful I she was horrible and I didn't end up there for such a huge decision. I'm thankful not all doctors are like this horrible human being. Beware Yelpers - those I've shared this experience have other similar stories to share back with me. Funny how the bad doesn't seem to materialize like all the "glowing reviews" found online. I took a long time bouncing my experience around in my brain, and what I had to do to fix it, before writing this review. Clearly, Dr. Canales is beloved, and many people go to him and trust him with their bodies. And I'm sure he USED to be wonderful and truly caring of the result. However, that was not the case with me. I went in for a breast augmentation in April of 2016 after a referral from my good friend. He was easy-going and seemed right. I decided to fork out the $7k for boobies. After 6 months, I noticed that one was riding higher than the other, and that's around the time you should see big changes and relaxation. I also noticed, now that they were larger, that diameter-wise, my left side had a smaller breast. Dr. Canales had opted to put the same size implants into each breast, and went larger than I'd requested, stating that most girls wish they'd gone bigger, and when he realized he could stuff me a bit more, he "maxed me out." Um, okay. I trusted him as my surgeon, so didn't put up any argument after it was already done anyway. However, now that I was faced with obvious, hard-to-hide asymmetry, when I was previously not burdened with such drastic differences between my breasts, I went in to see him and voice my concerns. In fact, over time, I would go back a few times to bring up the same issue: one breast was so much more relaxed (perfect, really) than the other, which always rode high and over-stuffed looking - as if it couldn't drop fully. Also, they were so over-stuffed that they rippled horribly (when silicone is supposed to be less than saline, but not in my case). I was undeniably lopsided in a huge way, and it only got worse as time went on! It felt, looked, and WAS too stuffed and my body was not able to allow it to relax correctly. After being downright dismissed on all subsequent visits, being told these things: 1) I'm too critical of myself; 2) nobody else will notice (not true, it was very hard to miss); 3) one side is aging faster than the other (WHAT?!), I knew it was time to bite the bullet and see other plastic surgeons to try to get more clinical opinions on my dilemma. BOTH surgeons I saw said the same thing: "What size was put in?" And when I told them the same size on both, I was told that the left breast was smaller and narrower than the right, and so that'd never work. They needed to be different sizes, and SMALLER to properly fit my BWD which measured for a max of what I'd originally requested: 350-375cc. I knew this to be the case, but Canales refused to admit this to me or to offer to fix his error. And his patient coordinator (no longer there) was a total bitch to me, treating me very badly as well. In the end, I had to pay for a new set, just 3 years after fighting about this and agonizing on how I was maimed and as a result, regretted even getting them in the first place, only to be lopsided. That's not what I'd signed up for. But I'd be damned if I'd go back to Dr. Canales at this point. No way! Not how I was treated. I ended up going with Dr. Silberg who is an absolute PRO and I adore. He fixed me beautifully, and now they are RIGHT, and I Iove them like I should! He put saline in at two different sizes, and I have LESS RIPPLING than my over-stuffed previous silicone job, and they feel as soft, since my others always felt strangled in there. OH, and just to give you a clearer picture, when I woke up from my revision, the nurse asked me if I'd had two different shapes put in, because that left side was SO CRAMMED IN THERE and unable to go anywhere, that it was a different effing shape. THAT is no joke. Not to mention, the pocket on that side was "wrong". I was quite literally botched by Canales. He should have refunded my money! But there was no way he'd do that, because he refuses to take accountability. So disturbing! In the end, I wasted $7k originally and went to Canales who treated me very badly with this, all the while, never taking accountability of his gross oversight, over-stuffing me when I asked for smaller implants, and ignoring the fact that I was unhappy and for good reason. He's either blind or he just doesn't give a shit anymore about the end result of his patients, and blames them for his shitty work. I would NEVER recommend him or his office. Go to Dr. Silberg who stands by his work and does an amazing job! I should have known when Dr. C made me sign an affidavit protecting him from any legal action after the fact. Silberg didn't have me do that. Interesting. I also heard from other patients of Dr. C that mine is not an isolated incident. Many have had to get fixed by other PS's. Do your research and interview many. Canales might be cheaper than others, or more extravagant, but you get what you pay for. read more

Have held off on leaving a review because it would take so much of my time to bullet point all the reasons this practice should be avoided. For one, the medi spa appointments I've had for fillers have left me with lumpy and uneven lips, they've had to be fixed. Last time I was charged for a full syringe even though we only did a half syringe and when I called and left a message about this (twice,) nobody ever called me back. As far as my breast augmentation, they are horrible. After three kids I thought my breasts were unattractive but after getting implants here I can safely say I've never been so embarrassed. My implants have been bottomed out since healing and now sit underneath my armpits. The gap between nipples is about 11 inches wide. I can't go braless or wear any bikini tops without underwire etc because they seriously sit on the sides of my body. When I lay down my implants are closer to my back than the front of my body! It's insane. So unattractive. When I brought this up at my post op he told me it was just my anatomy but two other plastic surgeons have told me no, that's absolutely untrue. Will need a revision- its VERY bad. I tell everyone to steer clear of this place. Also worth noting, I paid for a post surgery garment and they gave me a cheap Hanes bra with zero support- and told me post surgery garments aren't important for healing/placement which again, is wrong according to other practitioners. I can not believe the amount of money I paid (and had to save for years) for the worst boob job I've ever seen. Forever frustrated, and nobody here cares at all. There are many other women with similar stories, just too embarrassed to leave a review. Steer clear, there are many other doctors in the Bay Area who care about your happiness & results. read more

I am pretty disappointed that I couldn't have the opportunity to meet and have my surgery with Dr. Canales. I did not have even the opportunity to scheduled an appointment . when I called, I was told that someone was going to call me to schedule one. When this person called me she asked me many questions between them my height and my wt after I gave her that information she pretty much called me "obese" and she told that she couldn't even schedule an appointment with the doctor. I was a little bit sad but I understood that maybe they don't see people a little bit overweight, taking in consideration that she was having the BMI chart as a guide which I suppose to be 125 pounds and I have never had that weight even when I was a teenager. Well after telling me that she can't schedule the appointment, she asked me with this un respectful voice tone " do you have money to afford this treatment". I felt totally devastated because if you call into one of this office to make an appointment to have a procedure done, it is because you have the money to afford it. I feel so sad because I got this treatment but I pretty sure that I will able to find another doctor who will be able to see me. read more

I would like Dr.Canalas to read this. I have been there 2 or 3 times for botox and always was happy with the results BUT this time when I went in for botox the experience was unacceptable. Landed up with my right eyebrow about 1/4 inch above where it should be and my left eyebrow down low and stright, it will not move. In the past visits there has only been one person in the room injecting the botox. This visit there were two people in the room and my impression was that one person was in training and did not know what she was doing. When I ask if she could put some botox in the space between my nose and upper lip she said sure. Well when she went to inject it some of the serum squirted out on my skin and had to be wiped off before continuing to inject the botox. Now my lips are not even. Recently I had to go in to get a Capsular contracture. In Layman terms it means my skin easily stretches. So my perfect breast augmentation done by the amazing Dr Furnas about 3 years ago started to hang lower then my pocket. They use a mesh if needed to give my skin a little more back bone and extra sutures! They are perfect! I would say it's like having the breasts I had as a teen....But I never had any so I wouldn't know. LOL All I know is I'm beyond grateful. Im beyond happy with the results. And my confidence has a little more boost. My post op was quicker then the first time as well. I was up and moving the same day!!! Pretty disappointed with the lack of customer service here. Last summer I came here for lip fillers, Juvederm. They looked great for about two weeks and then became very lumpy. I had a lump on my bottom lip and multiple lumps in my top lip, which were superficial and looked blueish almost like a blister. I went in for a month follow up, and I wish I remembered her name but she said it was super normal and to massage twice a day. I did just that which resulted in my bottom lump evening out a little bit, but my top lip didn't get better. I thought maybe it needed more time to heal? I'm not an expert like them so I figured if they didn't see a red flag, it was fine. I just left it alone because I didn't have time to be seen. My work schedule was rough to work around and they were always booked out for months. I finally got in and since my lips still looked awful I booked a consultation to get my lips dissolved. Prior to my appointment, no cost was discussed. I figured that would be discussed once I arrived to my appointment. I got there, the lady looked at my lips and kept saying how weird it looked and it wasn't normal and acted like she'd never seen anything like it. She pulled out the needle and stuff to dissolve it, still no discussion of price. She came at me with the needle, I asked her to numb me and she said "I don't have time for that" and proceeded to inject me. Mind you, I was in there at least 15 minuted before my appointment. Anyway. She injected some of the stuff to dissolve it right where those little blueish lumps were, and I went outside to find out the cost. I WAS CHARGED $225 to dissolve ONE LUMP. Not even my full lips. On top of that I was told that if I need to come back and get more filler dissolved it would cost me ANOTHER $225..... $450 to dissolve. I've never heard of a place that makes you pay for their mistakes, literally. I did some research about what happened to my lips and found lots of Plastic surgeons/doctors/injectors etc said those blue bumps form when the filler is injected too superficially. So let me pay $450 to fix what your injector didn't know how to do. I will never go back here. I've never felt so taken advantage of as I did during that appointment. I'd rather pay anywhere else to get my lips dissolved than to give this place another dime. There's plenty other plastic surgery places around. Many other options. Choose wisely. UPDATE: I was reached out to by Abby who was extremely kind, and I was offered a refund of the $225 for the small reversal injection I was given, which I really appreciate. I still won't be returning here but I do appreciate them reaching out to me so quickly and offering me that refund. read more

What a terrible experience. I had had a consultation with Dr Culbertson over at the Jacobs Center, received a quote valid for a month or so. Within that month he moved over to PSA, where my quote was no longer valid... even though it was within the time frame Dr Culbertson signed it at Jacobs Center. The receptionist @ PSA was down right awful. Degrading and totally unprofessional. They quoted me over $5k more than my original quote for the SAME procedure. My plastic surgeon was out of town and sent me here for an infection after lip augmentation. Coming from the Monterey area to Santa Rosa, I was exactly 6 minutes late. The ladies downstairs sent me upstairs to check-in. I went up to the desk UPSTAIRS and a blonde lady (just found out her name is Claudia!!) told me that because I was late and this was just a "favor" being done by my plastic surgeon, I would not be seen. She went on to say that the doctor had just got out of surgery. Well, then, he is here, right? I asked. She then said, "We can't help you." I said what about tomorrow or the next day? "No", she said. I began to cry. I said I don't know what to do. She preceded to look and me and said "Sorry". I went downstairs to get my husband. He was so upset he took my hand, and we went back upstairs and demanded to see the doctor. The blonde said to my husband, "She is too late. We can not see her because we have a 15-time span." My husband said she was 6 minutes late. She then looked at the clock and said no, it's been 15 minutes. My husband then said its been fifteen now!! She has to be seen. It could be something serious. This blonde lady should be fired and never be allowed to work in this kind of establishment or any other that has to deal with customer service. Talk about thinking you are "better" than. Even in Carmel or Beverly Hills they DO NOT TREAT you like a second-class citizen!!!!! The doctor finally saw me and the nurse who helped me was very kind. The doctor was polite as well. First impressions can really make a difference. I will NOT be going back. read more

I have known Dr. Furnas for many years and just had my second surgery with her. The first was an upper eyelid surgery when I was 51 and now, at age 68, I had a facelift, CO2 laser and fat injections. I was out and about one week post surgery and back at the gym after 2 weeks. The results are amazing (and subtle) and my friends are impressed....those that know that is. For such a lot of surgery, it was a non event. At week 3, other than a bit of residual redness from the laser, I am fully back in my life. Thank you Heather, you continue to amaze. read more

Dr Culbertson did a magnificent job on, a very much needed, explant. I had my implants for 30 years, which one has always popped before each 10-year mark, which then I would have both replaced under the implants warranty. The 30 years were riddled with weird unexplained illnesses and autoimmune issues. The last implants, Dr Culbertson removed were silicone because I was told they wouldn't pop as easily as saline, by a different doctor. Because its harder to know if silicone implants are ruptured, I was living with a ruptured silicone implant, without knowing and without knowing for how long. Strangely, I started to get weird excruciating pain in the opposite implant/breast, which was not ruptured. The pain was so bad, I was in and out of the ER for almost a month. Kaiser didn't care and their plastic surgeon offered to just basically rip out my implants with no more examination or care, even though my insurance would've covered that cost. I was desperately calling around (during COVID), trying to find a surgeon who would listen and compassionately understand that I needed an explant with exploration ASAP, even if I had to pay for it myself out of pocket. Dr Culbertson was that surgeon. Not only did he compassionately listen and offer different options to help, so did ALL of the staff. Keri who takes reservations, understood my very painful situation, and found a way to get my surgery moved up, which I'm sure wasn't easy since COVID already messed with their schedules. But she listened to me and understood how bad my pain was and helped. All of the staff were amazingly sweet, respectful and very knowledgeable. Rachel, Dr Culbertson assistant was always there to help me and answer any questions or concerns I had. And I had a lot, since I read numerous issues with explant surgeries and whether or not having the entire capsule removed was good/bad and the dangers around full removal. Dr Culbertson made me feel at ease and that I could trust his best judgment when he knew what he was dealing with. I also entrusted Dr Culbertson with performing a full lift after explanation and his final results are astounding. He did an absolute fantastic job and took the extra care of making sure all the ruptured free-floating silicone was removed. He also explored the side with the pain but found nothing he could attribute to my agonizing month. The pre-op and post-op nurse was sweet who made me feel comfortable and at ease, during a very high anxiety time, followed by pain and fogginess. The anesthesiologist was also amazing. I explained how I've had multiple surgeries that I have woken up during and how those scary wake-ups during surgery has added to my anxiety. He listened to me, applied what he thought was best in my situation and I only woke up after my surgery was completed. He informed me I woke up immediately after removing the gas. That is how awesome he did his job!! The surgical staff helping Dr Culbertson were also stellar, they helped Dr Culbertson get the best possible outcome without wasting any unnecessary time under anesthesia. I seriously can't say enough about how wonderful Dr Culbertson was, and the staff, and how pleased I am with the outcome. I owe them an apology for this review being long overdue. I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews. I had a revision of my right breast for capsular contracture. I am about 4 weeks post op and my results are perfect. First of all after the initial visit I felt very welcomed by Dr. Furnas she struck me as someone who's genuinely cares about how and what she does. I also felt very cared for by Kelli the MedicL Assistant and my RN who helped during the procedure who oddly enough I cannot recall her name at the moment. I also loved the anesthesiologist, he was sweet and even had a good approach and charismatic sense of humor unlike one I had experienced while in labor at Sutter. I had both the Clear and Brilliant treatment and some Botox around the edge of my eyes. The Clear and Brilliant made my skin look more radiant, smooth and clear. I loved it. I had breast reduction surgery with Dr. Canales yesterday. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Canales and all of his staff. From the moment I called to enquire about scheduling a consultation to walking out of the facility after surgery, everyone was so kind and helpful. I had wanted to have this procedure for over 2 years but had put it off in a lot of ways due to anxiety about finding a surgeon that not only was very highly qualified, but who also had a warm and friendly bedside manner. My experience with this office was fantastic. I was greeted on the phone by a very pleasant voice and they were able to get me in the same day for lip injections, I'm sure that's rare though. My appointment was with Joy and I must say she was wonderful. Full of information to answer all of my questions and was extremely thorough with all of my history. I've had the pleasure of being seen at PSA as well as their med-spa on the lower level. The staff there make you feel welcome from the minute you walk in. I immediately felt at ease after any and all interactions with the staff, whether it be on the phone or in person. Very reassuring and thoughtful in their answers as well.
