This is a great park to visit! I was impressed by it's beauty. There's much to offer along the Detroit River when weather permits. This park is spacious with plenty of seating, playscapes for children and lots of fun for adults as well. There is a nice view of the water. The shed there has bathrooms, and it's secure with park staff. The shed offers space for events of various types. Currently there is a bar with cocktails and Smokey G's barbecue. There were also food trucks parked on the street when I visited. It's adjacent to Chene Park, so it's nice for pregaming before concerts. It closes at 10pm nightly.

Robert C. Valade is the newest park along the East Riverfront and a good start point if you plan to take a walk or jog along the riverwalk. Free parking is directly across the park and restaurant area. I haven't tried any of the restaurants yet. I see that Geisha Girls Sushi and Smokey G's Smokehouse are at the park and a few people were enjoying their meal outside. The park has a beach, lots of chairs and benches, outdoor fireplaces, and a Sled Shed with free sleds in the winter. This is an underutilized park. Whenever I go for a walk there is hardly anyone here. The East Riverfront is beautiful and I plan to come here more often for walks in the spring and summer.

Brand new park addition to the Riverfront from the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Bathrooms are new, clean, and well maintained. The beach and children's area are well done offering a lot of play opportunities. I really like the different musical instrument play stops. There is a covered seating area and refreshment area. Drinking g fountains and water bottle refill station to hydrate. There are many outdoor seating options with umbrellas to get some shade from the direct sun. Please stop in and enjoy the views of the river!

This park is 5 stars but when people are using the pavilion and playing their music for the whole park to enjoy and it's filled with obscenities it's a one star park. Music like this has a time and place and a park filled with kids isn't it. The ambassadors and bicycle cops ignore it which is disappointing.

Winter festivities at Valade Park. So much fun!!

    Is this park pet friendly?

Not sure what you mean exactly by pet friendly. It's an outdoor park on the waterfront, so pets are obviously allowed. You do have to abide by leashing laws though. If you're asking about whether or not there is an enclosed space for your pet to… Read more

There are many beautiful and family-friendly parks from east to west along the riverfront. Along the way, I passed murals, sculptures, Little Free Libraries, and plenty of benches--each inviting a pause. The path buzzed with life, yet still offered quiet moments beside the water. At Cullen Plaza, I gave in to laziness and grabbed a Lime scooter. Gliding along the wide, welcoming path, I passed buskers playing jazz and folk, their tunes drifting through the warm air. The Riverwalk's layout makes it easy to navigate, with clear signs and a friendly, open feel--like Detroit showing off its best side. I wrapped up at the Milliken State Park Lighthouse, a proud little beacon with Windsor's skyline just across the water. Jetskis circling on the Detroit River, families picnicked, and the sun above the RenCen was pure gold. Whether you stroll, scoot, or simply sit and soak it in, the Riverwalk delivers a soulful slice of Detroit summer. [Review 1003 of 2025 - 478 in Michigan - 24557 overall]

Windmill Pointe Park - Amazing memories

They were resurfaced about 3 years ago and still look brand new. But, that is because they are completely unplayable. Whoever resurfaced those courts left air pockets that substantially effect play on all four courts. If you are a 3.0 player or above I would recommend finding another place to play. The problem for us GP Park residents is that they converted the Patterson Park courts to Pickleball courts leaving us without a playable tennis court in all of GPP. It is crying shame that those managing a park system like ours cannot find a solution to this problem.

I still remember as a kid swimming around the adult pool when it wasn't adult time and watching this bigger guy we all lovingly called Boblo boat swim around the perimeter of the pool by using his hands as wheel to pedal around the pool and do his laps. It was also the first time I saw the fool horror of the red Speedo from the slicked backer tall guy that would walk around proudly by the pool, only taking a dip to cool off some. This is where I took my tennis lessons as a kid. This is where I learned to fish over by the harbor piers. They have improved the community center and it's now a nice Tompkin's center and a great communal spot to watch movies. It's great for renting for parties and gatherings. I don't live in GPP any more but I have many friends that still do and thus I still am able to visit this wonderful park that holds so many fond childhood memories for me.
