I absolutely love Dodge Park for the facility and for the events they hold. In the summer they have free concerts in the park on Thursdays at 7:00 and they have really good bands. Also on Thursdays while the concerts are going on, They have food trucks and a farmers market in their pavilion area so there's plenty to eat, drink and buy. They usually have police directing traffic and they have plenty of parking in their lot and in nearby lots. There is also a nice splash pad area that is very popular and wonderful trails for walking and biking. There are plenty of restrooms in the immediate area too. read more

Dodge park is a very fun and a beautiful place to visit. I had been at this park since I was a kid until adulthood. It's a great, vibrant community space, with something for everyone. There are large playgrounds for kids and many shaded spots great for relaxing or having a picnic with family/friends. The walking and biking trails are extensive, well-kept and have beautiful views along the river. There are small stops along the way to enjoy the view or let your dog swim. The park is also extremely dog friendly, with plenty of room for pups to run around and meet new friends. If you're looking for family BBQ space, or just a place to spend a few hours outside, Dodge Park has plenty of tables, parking, and activity to keep you satisfied. The only downside is the sidewalks are also used by bikers which can be risky as people are walking in the same direction. read more

I hadn't been to dodge park for probably over 5 years and I was pleasantly shocked when I arrived the other day. For some reason, I can never remember that this park is so HUGE and every time I arrive expecting the normal, smaller sized nature areas I'm used to. Dodge Park is much more than a nature area! It's booming with diverse families and activities from family BBQs to romantic picnics. If you're looking for a place equipped with ample space for park activities but also long, lush trails, then you have got to come here. This is a lovely community park! I wish there were more parks like this. The walking/biking trails are extensive, beautiful and well maintained. There are little spots along the way to check out the river, dip in your toes or let the dog have a quick swim. On a nice day you may see some kayakers paddling by. The playgrounds are very nice, spacious and fun for the kiddos. The real gem is the splash park where children can have a blast and cool off. I have regularly visited Dodge Park for fresh air and exercise since the pandemic started. There are walking paths as well as bike trails. According to the city website, Dodge park is 51.2 acres. I have spent hours walking the main trail along the Clinton River where one can admire the nature and wildlife. I have seen squirrels, Canada geese, deer, skunks, and ducks on my walks. I enjoy going in the early morning where there are only a few walkers, joggers, and bicyclists around. It gets a bit crowded in the early evening with more families and skateboarders using the trails. The paths are large enough to maintain a fairly safe distance from others, but I recommend bringing a mask when there are more parkgoers around. I have also heard of the weekly farmers market which I still have yet to attend. The Farmers Market Pavilion is located to the east of the main entrance along Utica Road. There are numerous parking lots throughout the park and restrooms that I found to be cleaned and well maintained. The main entrance is across the street from the police station and I have seen police officers regularly patrolling the park both by bike and on foot. I find Dodge Park to be safe, clean, and large enough to spend the day there exercising and enjoying the outdoors. It is one of the best free parks I've seen in Macomb County. read more

Absolutely my favorite place to walk, run, or people watch! Dodge Park has grown and improved so much over the last few years. It is definitely worth a day out with your family (and dogs!) There's so much to do for everyone. Playground, basketball courts, splash pad, volleyball -- you name it. There's something for everyone. There's even an ice rink in the winter Did I mention the biking and walking trails? The trails span about 5 miles. There's so much wildlife and beauty to see, too. Don't forget about kayaking and fishing in the river. I've been coming here often over the last year. My dog absolutely loves it! We love that it is so dog friendly. Dodge Park is quiet in a sense because it is so vast, but it's also a rocking place in the summer. Lucky for us -- it's free! read more

Very nice park. Dodge Park has wonderfully paved walking trails and is dog friendly. It's very beautiful and looks like it also has a swim park during warmer weather. I have not been to Dodge Park since the 90s. But I have driven by to get to work over the years and have been shocked by the changes. They have really turned this park into an A+ park. There's a new amphitheater there and it's pretty great. I have never even heard of Sterling Fest, but when my son's robotics team decided to have a booth to recruit members to all levels of robotics, we signed right up. I had absolutely no idea what to expect though. Holy cow it was a huge fair! It ran very well. Plenty of parking. I ran into a ton of people I knew which was super fun. The robotics teams got great attention! My son also got to meet his new teammates as he is now transitioning to the highschool team. Absolutely crazy. I have a freshman! Overall we had a great time. There was a Prince cover band there one night and Uncle Cracker played on Sat! There we're gorgeous evening fireworks. If you haven't been, check it out next year! read more

It used to be a nice park to walk the trails around the river and such. Not since they made *all* the trails "multiuse". That in practice means walk a few steps, then jump at the sudden bellow of "ON YOUR LEFT!!!!" as a motorized bike whizzes within inches, causing you often to jump off the side of the trail into the mud or poison ivy or trip over a vine or stump. These motorized bikes are coming by every few seconds. They're not "sharing" the trail: they own it. It's a raceway for motorized bikes and a few non-motorized. I've been pushed off into the mud, had two pass abreast at one time and almost hit oncoming bikes - and this isn't like "one time", this is the norm at the park. What with the hordes of motorized bikes with their screeching "ON YOUR LEFT@!!!!!" every few seconds, I'd rather walk in traffic on the street. Trees? River? Birds? In this park? Can't see or hear a thing - too busy dodging the dam-ed bikers who won't follow the rules. Birds are gone, the noise of the constant "ON YOUR LEFT!!!!!" drove them out, too. Have fun with your park, motorized non-exercisers - apparently you're not at the "park" for the nature, either. read more

This park is very great because there is so much to do! if you ever get bored of being on the swings there is a soccer field, volleyball courts, basketball court, a very large trail to go on a walk on, an ice rink and more. i recommend this park to everyone because it can really help you to connect and find new friends and meet new people! one thing i recommend they add is another soccer field because the lines to join a game in the summer are very long! other than that it is really a great park. read more

I loved this trail/park. Park is nice and when you cross small bridge and run to the right, it is a small trail along the creek, so if you need a longer run, you need to turn left after bridge. I've been to Dodge Park for the Sterlingfest Art Fair every year, but never took the time to explore the park itself. I was quite impressed at the walking/biking trail. I can't wait to go back with our bikes and go for a ride! It was bustling with families and walkers and bikers. One of the pavilions had a large family reunion going on. I was impressed to see so many people using the park and walking the trail! All in all, a very nice park that I should have gotten around to a long time ago! read more

The park is wonderful and in a safe location... usually the people are just there to have fun. Sadly on one occasion, a man shows up with other skaters and he's not even skating, biking or riding a scooter -- this man, who is Caucasian early mid 20s, starts playing music with the word "n...a" and is literally only saying that lyric pretty loud. There are 15-20 people at the park and the fact that this guy sets up right next to the only black male there and starts his display says a lot about the local people. While his friends quickly distanced themselves from him, they did not say a word when he was carry on what was obviously a passive aggressive attack to get a reaction. This man got confronted and called out and feigned ignorance -- at any rate, these are the reasons that these low-middle class suburbs can't have nice things. Will change the rating to a 4star since the actual park is well designed, expansive and can be ridden around and around without even pushing. It is also very slick which makes me actually believe I have sick powerslides until I skate somewhere else lol will be back and will simply avoid that "crew". It's weird to go to an awesome skatepark and barely-not even skate it and just cause trouble... such a privledge wasted. read more

This place makes me envious of Sterling Heights residents. Some friends turned us on to this place a while back and now it has become a regular place we visit. In the summers they have a nice splash park and in the winter they have a skating rink that is partially covered by a pavilion. Outdoor, but enclosed soccer field, volleyball and basketball courts. They also have playgrounds for all ages, including some that I find challenging. Finally, the biggest selling point for me are the walking, hiking and bike paths that run along side the Clinton River. Gorgeous park with excellent people watching. If you live in the area, and you like the outdoors, this place is a must. read more

Came up to the park to see the Journey tribute band Captured. The band was very good but the surprise of the night was Drunken Rooster food truck they served up some incredible gourmet tacos, the spice on them were spot on the pickled vegetables were awesome . These were not your run of the mill tacos, not just shells ground road kill, processed cheese, wilted lettuce. These tacos fresh meat, fresh vegetables, fresh spices, cilantro on tacos is much better than land lettuce. The two guys running this truck were awesome super friendly, answered question and mostly took they're time to perfect your order. Will scout these guys out. Went to Sterlingfest what a great event live music , food tents from local restaurants, amusement rides, kids tent, beer hall with live music and plenty of things to do. This is a very well run festival hi five to the city. The food choices had quite a few choices. The main stage area was very well done the switch was a very welcomed thing the old way, the sun was blaring you in the face. I've been coming to this event for many years and hope for many more. read more

Great fall colors here in October! We just took our family photos here and it was gorgeous. Definitely a photographers dream to catch that fall color. Seemed like it had a nice playground and was well away from the busy road. Also the river and ducks are a nice perk. Loads of sucks to feed for the kids. read more

With maybe the exception of Stony Creek, Dodge Park has to be the best park in the state. I'm just going to say this really quick: Volleyball Courts, Play Structures, Swingsets, Picnic Areas, Pavilions, Restrooms, a Concert Stage, and a skating rink that's in-line in the summer, and ice-skating in the winter! Were Dodge Park filled with only that, it'd be an exceptional park indeed. In addition to that, DP also has miles of walking/hiking trails through the many acres of woods. I've walked all these trails, and they're absolutely amazing - very calm, some paved, up and over the river and through the woods... ah you know the rest. Whoever built this park must have had great ambitions for it. It really does have a little something for everyone. Families, young people, old people, ANYONE would find something to do at Dodge that would be memorable. read more

So in my journey of exploring delicious noms at some point it usually comes to my attention on visits home to the Midwest that my quivering in anticipation of delicious noms is actually just my fats quivering... cr*p. So whenever I recognize this I kick my lazy butt into fitness mode and that includes jogs at Dodge Park. Dodge Park has this wonderful paved jogging trail in the woods. What this means is that in the summer it's nice and cool and you're able to avoid awkward tanlines while getting your workout on. In addition there are convenient quarter mile markers. One thing I love about this park is that almost everyone else who uses this trail: walkers, joggers, roller-bladers, and bikers are all SUPER polite. People will almost always alert you when they are passing you by saying "passing on your right! (or left)". See having jogged at Memorial Park in Houston, where this is apparently a lost art, I always find myself made even happier while dripping sweat at this small gesture. It's the little things that count. There's tons of nature to be spotted on this trail. When I jog early in the morning I've even spotted deer grazing by the jogging path. I've also spotted herons and storks as well as a SNAKE one time. That wasn't that exciting. I personally have no fear of snakes but my dad is deathly afraid of them. Anyways, beware of the Geese. For some strange reason people who aren't from Geese heavy regions have this horrible misconception that Geese are these gorgeous, graceful, majestic creatures... they're not. In reality they're dirty, poop on my jogging path, and hiss at me if I jog too close. However the goslings are cute! But yes, avoid the mean geese because they will chase you and I assume (if they catch you of course), bite you. The park has actual working restrooms with running water so it's ideal for refilling water bottles at the fountain and of course obeying the call of nature. The one thing you do have to be careful about is that in the spring and after heavy rains, there are mosquitoes out so spray bug repellent accordingly. There's a nature center at the upper most segment of the park that's a great place to take kids. Be careful entering as there is an actual nature exhibit that comprises the entrance walkway (inside the main door) and there are live birds and turtles there. There's quite a few local/native animals on display so it's a great interactive experience for those with young children. Writing this review makes me miss the midwest. As much as I've resigned myself to being a Texas girl, I still miss having four seasons and spending time outdoors and on the great lakes. "There's nothing as beautiful as a Michigan Summer.... Pure Michigan" Too much? Okay I'll stop... just imagine Tim Allen's voice saying that! read more

Love this park! It is so clean, everyone that visits seems to be friendly. The trails are quiet and relaxing, and I enjoy the mix between paved and dirt. I wish there were a few more trash cans along the trail as you get farther in the back of the park, holding onto a bag of dog poop gets old after a while lol! However, there's still a *lot* more trash cans than I otherwise expected, which I'm thankful for. I also wish there were more maps throughout the trails to know exactly where you are. read more

Dodge Park has to be one of the best parks in the oakland and macomb counties only second to Stoney Creek (which you have to pay to enter). The park well kept and offer plenty of activities during the spring/summer and fall seasons. During the summer they have numerous bands playing in the park for free and its the perfect place to go for a walk along the clinton river or even ride your bike around. Check it out !! read more

I've been coming to Dodge Park for years and I will say it is one the best local parks around. Has a lot to offer for any type of family or just any type of person. The thing I really like about this park is it has the playground, it has the swings, it has volleyball and it has lots of trails to enjoy a nice little walk. Last year they did a lot of improvements this park which brought a new bridge and a splash park for locals and a farmers market. I'm happy they're always improve in this park for the residents to enjoy and be able to just get out and have a good time. I love walking the trails because you can see deer walking around a lot of times while you're back there and you can just get away and feel like you're not in the city anymore. I always recommend this park to my friends who want somewhere nearby and free to get into, to enjoy just a day of relaxing. read more

Just a lovely park all around. I wish we'd discovered it sooner, and glad we did (thanks to my fellow Yelpers!). We went the Sunday of a 4th of July weekend, and saw many families and couples doing their thing, grilling, strolling, biking. The trails are pretty, the space plentiful, the grass well manicured, and not a piece of litter in sight. We had a great little picnic by the water with our hibachi and enjoyed the butterflies and the friendly passersby. It's such a big park - we'll return to walk the trails or simply to read on a picnic blanket. Parking is easy-peasy. read more

If you live within the metro-Detroit area, Dodge Park is a great place to come and enjoy. This park is a beautiful, well-kept place to have a picnic, bring the kids or pets, or just friends to relax, run, bike or hang out. There are a few play areas for little ones. Trails and a nice river area to feed ducks and geese. If you are into photography I highly recommend coming here in mid-fall and a not too cold winter day. I have taken a thousand pictures here in all seasons and it's amazing what you can capture in such a big area. They have a farmers market here, music and all kinds of other events. Check the City of Sterling Heights calendar to see what's going on before you come. You may be surprise what this place has to off. The trails are very well kept and the only downside is the bugs in June/July. DO NOT forget your bug spray. When it's muggy or after the rain you'd be surprised how many clusters of bugs are flying around when deep in the tree area or by the water. Just come prepared . The playground is great. My daughter loves it. The bathrooms are always open. Dodge Park offers entertainment in the summer. They have Music in the Park events. I've got a great, big library of memories of my days at Dodge Park. I don't remember the first time I came here, it was years ago, but this park has had something new and special to offer me no matter what age I was. As a kid, I would spend hours and beg my parents for five more minutes at the play sets, and i'd race my friends down the hills which looked like mountains at the time. Now I savor every moment walking through the trails, especially during the fall, and exploring the unpaved paths through the woods. It's a timeless park that never seems to lose its luster. The park always seems to be kept clean and the trails are marked with several maps. The resting places at the edge of the river are great and there are picnic tables all over the park. If you're lucky, you just might find deer wandering through the park in early spring or fall. My only criticism for this park is that I wish it had a bathroom on the trail through the woods; the only bathroom I remember seeing there is the one in the front by the parking lot. Though the park is almost always lovely and an easy walk, from March to May, and occasionally during the summer, the park can get swamped with water after heavy rains. Despite those two drawbacks, I think the park deserves five stars for all the wonderful things it has to offer, including the memories it's given me. read more

The park seems to have even more parking and they added a state of the art Splash Pad and a very large Farmers Market pavilion. Thursdays there's a Farmers market in the pavilion. Firstly, the bridge needs replacement. Good news, Sterling Heights just received funding to make the replacement. Past that, this is an amazing park. There are two separate children's play structures. They are very separate. As a pare the of one toddler, this makes me happy. My 1 year old is safe on the toddler equipment without being lured to the equipment suited only for older children. There is a Pavillion plus pleanty of picnic tables for general use. So many paths! Walking, biking or running. Many loops to add extra milage. You can walk all the way up to the nature center! Oh, and there's a play structure over there too. They do a farmer's market on Thursday evenings in the summer. read more
