Was such a beautiful day today so I decided to go visit the Robert Front farm in Derry Nh and I'm glad I did what an amazing and beautiful place. The farmhouse is closed for the season but the old farm out back is quite the adventure walking on the trail and reading his poems and living on the farm the inspiration from living on the farm. Wonderful poem's along the way the sounds of birds squirrels just being in the nature of it all. Was a beautiful day so we started with the walk around the estate. Every so often there would be a marker with information about Robert Frost and one of his poems. Unfortunately we arrived too late for a tour of the house, but those in the barn were very informative. Strongly encourage a visit if you are close by. read more

This place is fantastic. The house has so much to do and see. But the amazing history and the amazing views and land isn't even the best part. I have never in my life had such the tour guide. I'm not sure exactly the name (this was 2 years ago) but man was he awesome. He will explain everything in a funny, and interesting manner. It's quite great. A must see site in NH read more

Loved this place! Loved loved loved this place! I never even knew it existed until earlier this summer, driving home on 93, I saw the exit sign. And it went straight to the top of the to do list. It ended up being an absolutely gorgeous late September Saturday. The parking lot was near full, but the place still felt empty. There are the grounds, complete with 1/2 mile poetry trail. The grounds, visitor center and 15 minute video are free. It's $5 per person for the house tour. There were probably about a dozen people on our house tour. We were the only "locals". Apparently everyone else was on a New England Author Tour (Didn't know that was a thing - come to New England and drive around visiting different author houses?). The house tour was more biography of Robert Frost and less tour of the house. Put things into perspective - about how living here developed his persona and gave him his poetic voice. Didn't see another soul while on the poetry trail. Even if you don't swoon over Robert Frost, I still think this place is worth a visit. read more

Great spot for a picnic during the warmer months. Large grass area to spread out upon. There are small walking trails around the grounds with some informational pictures highlighting the history of the farm. Bring a blanket and cooler and enjoy the views! read more

Jack, my Rhodesian Ridgeback adn I love to stop here and walk the grounds of the Robert Frost Farm. There is a big field and walking trails. Not a huge amount of land but enough for a small hike. The farm house is open May- Oct and I have not been in it. I have seen pleantly of old farm houses in VT. The farm and land is well maintained by the State of New Hampshire. I've always been a fan of Frosts work and having been a resident of the area it took me a shameful amount of time to visit this place. I did not do the tour I simply walked the paths on both sides and it was a pleasant experience. Overall I'd say it's about 2 miles total. When I walked back to the path the choice was left or right and I chose left which was indeed "the road less travelled" ........yeah I did that ha. The left side essentially leads to the back of a very nice home/private property but it's a great view. The right side of the path has a bunch of Frosts worked posted, has a small bridge and goes along the property. Just a fun thing to do on any random day. read more

I came here on December 8, 2007. The farm was closed but I was still able walk around the grounds, take pictures and take The Road Not Taken. Sorry, couldn't resist that.... I think the farm should be open year-round. That will discourage vandals and punks alike from trashing the place! We took the tour which consisted of a 15 minute video and about a 35-40 minute tour of the house. I think the guide's name was Bob. He did a great job telling us about Frost's time living there and how it was significant in his poetry. The grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the walk around the perimeter reading the plaques. Would be a nice picnic spot. read more

Firstly, the vandalism posted below was done to one of Frost's homes in Vermont, this is not the place in the article. This premises is located directly on a main route, has many people frequent it and is frequented by police meeting up and searching for speeders. It is a safe place to be. The indoor tour is something to do once and you'll see all you need too. They don't mention it if kids are around , but pull aside the guide and ask about Frost's brother who hung himself here. The farmhouse also hosts speakers and poetry readings and slams throughout the open season and are fun to attend. The outdoors section is a great place to exercise whether you run, jog, or just stroll casually. It's dog friendly, just please pick it up! There are a few small bridges over a brook and plenty of quiet spots to explore. This is a birdwatchers paradise and I've also seen many animals here including red foxes. There are also fishers in the area. This has become my defacto place to go and be outdoors in the quiet and get a good workout in. read more

I drove a fair distance (from the Boston area) to take a tour of this place. When I first arrived, I was the only one there and the worker almost literally jumped on me. Rather than taking the opportunity to check out the exhibits in the barn (which serves as the visitor center and gift shop), I was subjected to his incessant banter. When other people arrived, he put on an introductory video (yes, VHS, believe it or not), and spent half as much time talking about it as the run time. Once the film got going, he talked through it, offering his own opinion on things. The tour was just as I should have expected from this introduction to the site. By the time we started, the group had swelled to about a dozen or so. Most of the tour was about the tour guide and his experience at the farm and his views on the works of "Rob". The first room was the bathroom, where we spent about 10 minutes (yes, 10 minutes... in a bathroom). The tour was far too long, took way too many divergent side stories, and the gentleman leading it was arrogant and almost combative with guests. I'll admit, the content of the tour wasn't terrible (with the help of an editor), but the way it was presented was off-putting. He also allowed anyone interested to handle the historic antiques in the house - which made me assume he didn't care about his job or, at the very least, that there was no such thing as a curator at the house. But, hey, it's the Robert Frost Farm. This place is where poems like "After Apple-Picking" and "Mending-Wall" take place. He lived here for long enough that it kind of overpowers other Frost house museums. It's a pleasant little place with a beautiful New England setting. There's also free parking in back. If not for the guide there, it would have been a great experience. read more

I live down the road. I never take the tour because I do not care, to be blatantly honest. I am a Robert Frost fan as well as a poetry fan in general. I know the works and the life of Robert Frost. I would like to tour the house at some point certainly though. I mostly just like walking around the grounds and there is a beautiful view if you walk for long enough. Some actually mystical trails that are amazing and beautiful. I can see why he chose the place to do his work. My only complaint is that there is actually broken glass in the fields and on the trails where horses and dogs are walking. It'd be nice if they would take a little better care of the grounds as they do the house. And these are the trails right off the parking lot, not in the middle of the woods. read more

The woman who was working was very knowledgeable and eager to share information with us. There's a lot of stuff you can do for free here and a guided tour of the inside of the house is only 4 dollars. The flowers outside are gorgeous! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and you're a history buff like me. read more

Come here before it's too late. There are constantly attempts to commercialize the site by "investors" who claim Derry is not "business friendly" by not allowing them to open just another xyz in the vicinity of the Robert Frost Farm. At some point majorities might tip and an investor, instead of finding a quiet and idyllic place themselves, settling there, writing prize winning poems, thus attracting the masses and THEN opening their beloved business there... Take a shortcut and make money on someone else's achievements. read more

Unique & out of the way museum staffed by personable docents who are eager to share their knowledge of Robert Frost. Even if you're not a poetry fan, it's still neat to see a period farmhouse from the early 20th century. Glad we stopped! read more

Wonderful! I go a few times a year. Sometimes take the kids, play Frisbee in the field, walk the path as my 8yr old tries to recite a poem or two. A mental Oasis between Concord NH and Boston. read more
