Dr. Fafalek, You've been my doctor for over 30 years, and I just want to say that I appreciate and thank you so much for everything, from guiding me to my health and being such a great doctor. Every time I see you, you always spend a lot of time with me, and you are very caring and explain everything in detail. This is very different from other doctors I see for other things where visits with them are very short, and it's in and out. But you have always been so kind, compassionate, and thoughtful. Three years ago, when I was on a ventilator with Covid, you spent time contacting my wife and communicating with her, and then eventually, when I was off the ventilator and able to talk, you texted me several times to see how I was doing and to give me encouraging words. Three years later, when I got Covid again, you called me over the weekend to see how I was doing! I just think you go above and beyond! It was so satisfying hearing your voice to check up on me. Easy Breezy!!!! Just came from getting my covid antibody test. Appointment was for 11am but I got there 10 minutes early. They took me in right away!! Was done by 11:02. I reviewed Dr Fafalak in 2016 and I praised him but criticized his staff, who often dropped the ball when it came to ordering prescriptions. They have gotten better, I'm happy to say, and he's still my primary care provider. He's just such a sweetheart, I can't bring myself to leave him. He really listens- that's unusual- and he takes time with you. Of course, he takes time with everyone so unless you get the first appointment, you will be there awhile. He has a good selection of magazines in case you get tired of reading your cell phone. My advice is to pack a lunch. read more

My former doctor retired and his patients were transferred to Dr Fafalak. I have been very pleased. He is very caring and thorough. His medical assistant (there is one lady in particular who usually takes my readings) also has a caring personality and is efficient. It is a solo practice, and he does his best to fit everyone in, so he is busier than a one-armed coat hanger. Thus you might end up waiting a bit sometimes. I'm not sure if it is better to book in mornings or afternoons to avoid that, but that's the flip side of having a thorough doctor who takes his time to get to the bottom of things. If you prefer getting seen really quickly, you might prefer a larger (less personal) practice with more than one doctor. read more

Great office, great doctor, but you better take the whole day off if you make an appointment with him. Once, I sat in the waiting room for 25 minutes without anyone else there, but I could hear him and the staff talking and giggling up front. Sitting here now, its been 30 minutes and I don't even know if he's in the building . Seven other patients waiting here before me, so at this pace I should see him by Saturday morning (it's currently wednesday). read more

This was a very strange experience made worse by my experience with his staff afterwards. Julie in the billing office slammed the phone down on me when I called to ask about the bill. Prior to making the appt I gave my insurance to the assistant and she let me know that I would pay $0 if it was a preventative visit and $250 if it was a treatment for an existing problem. I made the appointment and was again told the same thing when I arrived. This woman was very professional and caring, very different than everyone else there it seems. I arrived early for a 9:15am appt so that I would be at work on time, but the doctor didn't see me until close to 9:45. During my 10-15min visit with him he briefly listened to my complaints about my knees, but did not go into depth discussing it, and then complimented my outfit(!!!). He wanted to do blood tests but I needed to leave and had a feeling he was just trying to do more to get money. I received a bill for $247.33, called the office and left a message for the biller Julie that it was an error and she never got back to me. Months later I got the same bill from them saying it would soon go to a collection agency. I called Julie to explain what I was originally told and why I should not be billed and she was immediately very very rude. I can't say enough how condescending and bitchy she was. She told me there was no such thing as a $0 preventative visit. I asked her for a bill explaining the charges and she refused, said I needed to deal with my insurance company, and hung up the phone on me. read more

MORE LIKE DR. FAFA-QUACK. I went to Dr. Fafalak on November 28, 2012 to check for rheumatoid arthritis. He was recommended to me by my knee ortho (whom I love). I was pleased with the office surroundings/environment, it was comfortable and the furnishings were new and modern. I didn't wait too long to see him and he spent a considerable amount of time explaining to me about the arthritis in my knees and why I may/may not have rheumatoid arthritis. When he was finished, a nurse came in to take my blood to test me. I had a follow-up appointment approximately three weeks later, but unfortunately I couldn't make it due to a hectic work schedule, so I told them I would call back to reschedule. In the meantime, I started to develop pain in my wrists and the hand ortho I saw told me I need to find out if I have rheumatoid factor, which jolted my memory to get my test results from Dr. Fafalak. To sum it up: I called Dr. Fafalak's office over FIVE TIMES in the space of two months and I never received a returned phone call. To be fair, whoever answered the phones was never nasty, curt or rude. They just continued to take my message and apologized. My sixth call involved asking them to mail me my results since he refuses to return my phone calls. Then three weeks later in February of 2013, I developed inflammation in the lining of my lungs (pleurisy) and I found out that two of many reasons you could develop that were having rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. So I called Dr. Fafalak's office for the SEVENTH time to tell them (angrily) that I now have inflammation in a different part of my body that I've never had before. I NEED MY TEST RESULTS. I said to them, "I asked you to mail me my results three weeks ago and I haven't received anything yet and now I'm sick yet again. I need those test results so I can follow-up with my primary care physician." Once again, they apologized and asked if I wanted the doctor to call me back or if I want them mailed. I told them I didn't care, EITHER ONE, but I need to know my test results. That call was made Wednesday, 2/20 and I still have not received anything in the mail. My next step is to mail them a certified letter and get my insurance company involved (UHC). Before I started writing this review, I Googled his name and found another site with lots of reviews with numerous complaints just like mine. I didn't think to Google him before since he came as a recommendation from my knee ortho who I think is outstanding. Now that I think about it, I will also call him and advise him he should stop referring his patients to this quack. You've been warned...... read more

Dr Fafalak has been my rheumatologist for more than 6 years. I am pleased with his care, one of things I like most is that he takes time with you. You never feel rushed as with others doctors. He will talk with you and ask questions. He is also willing to include you, the patient, in the planning of the best care rather than just tell you what medications to take. I would recommend him as a rheumatologist. My only complaint is that there is no phone call reminder post-appointment. (either for test results or next appt) read more
