She did not seem to want to bother with the question and I still do not know whether I got the right answer.

To summarize, in 1999 I was a 15 year old high school athlete. One day playing soccer, my vision disappeared for 5-10 minutes. This became a routine thing every 2-3 days, without any given trigger or correlation. I went to my family practice doctor, allergist, neurologist, ophthalmologist, and finally a neurosurgeon (too see if it was related to an eye issue I was born with). I was given many answers of what it "could" be.... Over a 2-3 year period, I tried 5-6 different medications, all with limited efficacy, and a plethora of side effects. Eventually I learned to deal with the issue, as the medications weren't worth the high cost, or side effects. Life was rough, but manageable (going blind every 2-3 days without warning). After a single visit with Dr. Robin Moore in 2004, she was able to help identify what was causing my visual issue. And more importantly, what was triggering the issue. I was able to change my habits, change my diet, and the issue has all but dissipated since. I have not seen Dr. Robin Moore since my single 2004 visit (I moved to LA after graduating UW), but I will soon visit her, to thank her. That one visit changed my life. I've told my story many times. I'm still very much in debt to her! And very much appreciate her help!

She took me utterly seriously and found my big, intelligent, relatable brain hiding behind the puke-y migraine. When I shambled in to see Dr. Murivova, I had "chronic daily headache" aka it felt like I'd had an icepick in my eye for WHOLE PAST THREE MONTHS. I was very surprised at some of her recommendations, both in how holistic they were and the pharmaceutical aspects: 20mg a day of melatonin? a very old drug called DHE (works better than anything else, turns out)? She even suggested moving from Seattle, climate wise - or trying a warmer climate. The whole time she made me feel validated, intelligent, capable of solving this problem and empowered. She gave me the research to read. She's a migraine genius, yes, but also a total migraine geek. I can see how their focus on healthy weight (defined by abdominal waist measurements, which often means weight loss) and diet (though changing my diet to avoid migraine triggers has been a huge help for me) might be off putting for some. They mete out some tough love but I always felt like Dr. Murinova and her NP are genuinely caring and lovely. I turned a real bend and broke that awful migraine streak because of her. When I had to come in to get a shot because of a terrible migraine, they were so concerned and had me lay down a long time before going home. Nobody likes to hear about lifestyle changes when their head feels like it's being put through a wood chipper - but I benefitted a great deal from them, darn them. Maybe the clinic could balance the short term and long term better. I have all my care at Swedish now. I recommend my doctor, Gary Schuster, as a primary care doctor who is a migraine expert. Dr. Murinova is great, though -- she's just popular. You might want to try Mary Reif at Minor and James or the Swedish Pain and Headache Clinic if she's booked up.

I can't describe the disappointment I felt when she breezed into the room with a seemingly tie dyed scarf and proceeded to tell about how she made it and demanded that I try it and bring the results to my next appointment. If I wasn't so devastated I should have challenged the charges to my insurance. Some years later I took an online course from dr murinova that was completely lacking in privacy and focused on trying to make flowers bloom and kittens chase butterflies using biofeedback to cure your migraines. I'm sorry but this was a complete turnoff, finally lessons learned and I have given up of any sort of meaningful treatment from this clinic.

Not only did he do a great job on my craniotomy (no small feat!), he made me feel human and was so compassionate. I cannot recommend him and his team enough! After surgery he explained well what happened and his office answered my questions quickly via MyChart. No one else I'd trust with my actual brain! And the research work he does is incredibly inspiring, going above simply working with patients to advance care for others. Thank you Dr. Cobbs and team!

Dr Cobbs is supposed to be a brain tumor expert. His first question was "So why are you here to see…read moreme today?" He didn't pick up on my sarcasm, when I chuckled, told him it was a worry when a specialist doesn't know why a patient is there to see them, then I said, "Well, we could start with the brain tumor." He told me that my chronic headaches, which sometimes feel like my eye is being pushed out, was unrelated to my tumor, that my vision changes were unrelated to my tumor, the frontal lobe where my brain tumor is has nothing to do with higher level math or communication. He told me that he could be 100% certain it was a benign meningioma from imaging. He said he could be certain the other tumors were unrelated: three breast tumors with discordant pathology/radiology, a contrast enhanced extradural spinal mass, and Drs trying to determine if I have a single adrenal tumor or bilateral, and others. He didn't ask me about any other symptoms - such as the toe twitching that recently started. My husband started worrying when he started to repeatedly beat me at Carcassonne, which used to be 1/6 games. My son thought the tumor explained some of my personality changes. The worst, Dr Cobbs claimed that 10% of all women have this type of brain tumor! My husband joined us (via FB messenger). Afterwards, he said, "Did he just say that 10% of all women have meningioma brain tumors? I'll have to look that up." Both my husband and I have done scientific research. I even wrote to Dr Cobbs to make sure we got his message right (attached). In the communication, he then said that higher level math was in the area of concern. I'm an applied mathematician. Women beware!!!!

Yelp Note of Thank You! To SEAMAR DENTAL-Tumwater satellite:…read more This week I had the privilege (Thank YOU! Washington State) of wandering into a local clinic called SEA MAR! This visit was tied to my teeth so to speak. I wanted them to be happy and so I checked on them. To my Delight (and my teeth- I love them so much!), I found a lovely, peaceful, collaborative and DIVERSE-ly skilled TEAM! Who were able to give me a WORLD CLASS on how to: check in on my teeth (regularly), let The Experts! Take a look to see, and then make recommendations for me and my teeth! I was given at least 3 that suited me! I also, checked in- on how to pay for this? Or? Since I know it can be expensive and an extra! Cost I may not be able to afford at this time. Since I live in the Wonderful! PACNW, and in Washington State in particular, I had OPTIONS I could sit with and utilize based on my current S(ocio) E(conomic) S(tatement) about Support! I found my CHOICES to be excellent and Awesome for my needs specifically! Based on the package I chose at this time the Options and What clinics/sites accepted this lovely voucher included (but was not limited to) a place that provided: * A workable schedule and variety of options to come in! * A clear explanation of the kinds of questions I will be asked in order to receive services. * A code of conduct that stated what they were committed to offering me for choosing their Sat-Ya-Lite TEAM. * A diversity or ways they all helped me listen to translation and different ways of communicating the SAME thing! Which is: WE CARE About YOU and Your Teeth! * Friendliness and Kindness, as well as Patience! (Since I was not totally into the look- see, of my teeth which take a lot of substance for me!) I chose to let the generosity of Washington State's HCA Care package (if I want to receive it- and I DO! offered me these 3 initial options: * A check-in and assessment with recommendations! * X-rays if needed to see further in (so they can give me an accurate) Assessment! * 2- follow-up cleanings per year! * A nice summary sheet of what occurred and what comes next when you leave the appointment! My Paired Team today was totally AWESOME! Shout out to! U! A Dentist by the name of GHAZI M BEN KURA, I loved your coat and chair-side tone!) and his phenomenal Assistant AKRAMA! I loved your style and demeanor! Who knows who YOU'LL get but based on what I witnessed today about this place: You won't be UN-CARED for and likely taken GOOD CARE OF... I Loved my T-I-M-E @ SEAMAR- Tumwater Satellite today All Around! Merci! (in every language that was represented there today!). I will be back for my lovely gift of 2 more sessions, so my teeth can be CLEAN! I really Appreciate THIS clinic's TEAM! Please take good care YOUR - self out there (your TEETH wish this!) and based on what I experienced TODAY- 2/5/26 on my scheduled visit- so does Washington State! Hooray! A happy and satisfied citizen. P.S. THANK YOU! Washington State! (and E(veryone) who pitched in a little bit for me (and others who live here) to experience this! And to SEA-MAR of Tumwater for it's real -live experience! P.PS. Please feel free to share this with others if you'd like!

Severe communication breakdown and lack of empathy for a critical care family…read more Our family's experience with Providence St. Peter Hospital has been deeply distressing during an already terrifying time. My 83-year-old grandmother was recently T-boned in a severe car accident, suffering eight broken bones, and was only just moved out of critical care. She managed to call me from her room, but the phone was disconnected. When I immediately called back to reconnect with her, I faced an absolute wall of bureaucratic incompetence and zero empathy. First, the staff claimed they had no idea who I was talking about. Once they finally recognized her name, they flatly refused to transfer me to her room or provide any explanation as to why. To prevent a family member from speaking to an elderly, severely injured patient who just initiated contact is completely unacceptable. The extreme lack of coordination between units and the rigid, unhelpful attitude of the staff turned a medical crisis into an agonizing, aggravating ordeal. St. Peter's leadership seriously needs to address how their staff handles communication with worried families. Frontline staff need training on basic empathy and how to properly locate transferred patients instead of just shutting families out.
