I have had surgery under Dr. Krug's care three times now for melanoma. He is kind, considerate, and very thorough. His communication skills are clear. He makes everything easy to understand. I was just in his office for a follow up after my third surgery. As we were laughing while saying our goodbyes, I said "Well I hope I don't have to see you later. But thank you for all your help". I would highly recommend Dr. Krug to anyone looking for a good surgeon. All the nurses and front office ladies are personable and kind as well. read more

I had a left partial mamo ductectomy from surgical associates Dr. Robinson, in 2016 its almost 2026 and my breast has been infected ever since. 10 years of infection. He did nothing. He blamed it on smoking. The wound never closed. I have had count-less appointments at leadt 10 mri 10 ultrasounds, breadt biopsies and 10 years of antibiotic . He used dirty medical equipment is what my disease specialist report said. 1+ cutaneous flora, 1+ rare gram positive cocci, peptostreptococcus, staphylococcus epidermidis. read more

I greatly appreciated his quick response in scheduling the procedure and the professionalism he demonstrated throughout the process. Dr Griffith is such a nice person. I just feel like I slipped through the cracks too many times to feel that he is reliable. I had a hernia operation. I never heard from the doctor or his office. I was then told that the stitches would dissolve. Two of them did not I ended up taking them out myself. Then my incision got infected. I called they said to watch it. I already knew that it was infected. Called Monday to get an appointment. Waited for an hour in the waiting room. He comes in looks at it says it's infected I say yes it is. He then says I'll be right back that he's going to go talk to his assistant. He never comes back. I go out to the front desk tell them what happened they say they'll give you a call. Get the call and the person who is scheduling me just says "crap... crap crap... crap... ohhhh.. crap... crap ohhhhh ohhhh crap. " and over again. I ask her she's alright. She says oh yes I'm just trying to get you scheduled... he is booked out 3 weeks. She was overwhelmed and unprofessional as a result. There seems to be only one doctor working at a time. The waiting room is always backed up. People without masks on. This is not the kind of practice that I would recommend. Again he's very nice everyone at his facility is a very nice I just feel like they need to do better. read more

Although some may have had good experiences, that was not the case for my father. He was in advanced stages of dementia so I made sure the paperwork was filled out completely, and submitted in advance for his appointment. However, when he and the aide from the nursing home arrived, they were grilled about paperwork. I arrived very quickly after they did so I was able to intervene. On every form, I had written boldly, DEMENTIA PATIENT so they would know to ask questions of me (Medical Power of Attorney) or the aide. He was wheelchair bound, requiring assistance of the aide and myself. We had to wait over an hour past his appointment time to get back into the exam room. Once there, the doctor proceeded to ignore me and the aide and attempted to get information from the patient who was in the final stages of dementia and in no shape to answer. The doctor stated he had good blood flow to his feet, which he just guessed at because he did no tests and was repeatedly told the patient has PAD (Peripheral Arterial Disease) and has very poor blood flow to his feet. Additionally, the doctor made the statement that he had to have gotten the wounds on his feet from walking or his shoes; however, he hadn't walked for months, he was wheelchair bound, and he didn't wear shoes, only socks. After the appointment, the nursing facility had another ABI (test to determine blood flow) done and it was worse than he previous tests. He still had PAD and his blood flow was indeed very poor, not good like the doctor had stated. Overall, I was very disappointment in his treatment. I originally had high hopes for the appointment as I had been seen myself by a different doctor. But after this visit, I will not return. read more

Dr Kaufman - I received emergency surgery after arriving through St. Peter's ER. Dr. Kaufman is an excellent surgeon and I would highly recommend him for your care. He definitely made me feel like he cared about more than just his handiwork, which was also excellent. He was considerate, he recognized you were a living breathing person, with someone that had family and friends that cared about you. He gave good long term health advice that was relevant. He also did not take extra risks and knew when he felt someone else needed to be called in for an additional procedure. He followed me through both procedures even though he only performed the first one. He made all the right calls and is just generally a kind man. He kept my husband of 44 years informed even through this COVID mess. read more

I must respectfully disagree with the poor review left by a disgruntled patient. My first visit, last June, was related to a blockage in my neck. I was referred to Surgical Associates by my primary physician. Dr. Krug found that I have stenosis in my carotid artery. After a thorough examination and an ultrasound, he determined that a follow-up every six months was the best and most conservative treatment at this time. The 6 months are up, and with no prompting from me, I received a letter from SA telling me it was time for a checkup. From the first moment I stepped into the office, I was greeted with nothing but a kind, pleasant and organized staff. As far as Dr. Krug goes, he did a thorough exam of my arteries and took the time to very patiently answer all my questions in a way that I could easily understand. I'm sorry that the other patient had a bad experience at SA, but from my perspective, I could not be more pleased with SA, and trust with no reservation that I am receiving top-notch case. read more

It's been two years since I had surgery on varicose veins at Surgical Associates. Dr. Krug performed my surgery and Kim, who I don't believe works there anymore, administered my conscious sedation medication and did my follow ups. My surgery was a nightmare. I never "fell asleep" like she said I would, and instead of explaining much to me and talking me through the (immense) pain I was feeling, the nurse kept upping my medication and it felt as though she thought I wouldn't remember the procedure. I fully remember the procedure, how painful it was, and how unhelpful and dismissive Surgical Associates was afterward. My leg was numb and I was in a ton of pain and I had constant adrenaline rushes around the clock after surgery for weeks. I was prescribed a high dose of Lorazepam by the Surgical Associates nurse and shooed out the door. After surgery, I noticed I still had one vein left that didn't get taken care of. I was told I could have it removed and the cost would just be part of my surgery. The nurse made my apt. and when I came in, they were going to charge me and insane amount of money AGAIN. (After an $11,000 surgery). The nurse had scheduled this apt. 2 days after my "6 weeks" were up, which meant is was not covered, but she wanted to wait that long to see if it disappeared on its own. I had to get it in writing from Dr. Krug that they would not charge me, and essentially, I was still charged and had to fight them to take away the charges. I never did go back and get the missed vein taken care of. There is NO WAY I would put my body into the hands of that surgical practice again at the time. Today, my leg is still numb and still very painful to the touch. Today, I still take medication for the constant adrenaline rushes that I presume came from the large amount of medication that was given to me, when it was very obviously not working in the first place. I don't recommend this practice based on my experience. read more

I went in for hernia repair in 2014. It was the first time I ever had an operation. The Doc and RN's put me at ease( the best they could). They actually bumped me ahead of someone else because of my stress level. They had me in and out very quickly. They are a busy place, so some appointments take awhile and other times I was in and out. It's hard for me to rate the quality of the work, but the surgery, and my reduction in heavy lifting ( per Doc's recommend) have "greatly" reduced my hernia pain. I am going for a another follow up a little over 3 yrs later to make sure I am not doing damage to the repair. I would recommend them. read more

I had an emergency gall badder removal ( I was in the ER late Thursday night and in surgery by 3:30 Friday afternoon) and Dr. Freeman was the surgeon. She was knowledgeable, reassuring and confident; pretty much everything I could hope for in a surgeon. She explained the procedure in detail, to include a deviation from the normal procedure she would have to make due to a previous hernia surgery I had 10 years ago. The surgery went better than I would have expected and unlike some providers that keep you waiting for hours, she was there at 9:00 Saturday morning to check on me and subsequently release me to go home shortly there after. The following Monday her office called to check up on me and schedule my follow up appointment. It's been a week since my surgery and I have very little residual pain, I have to literally remind myself to not over do it because I feel so good. Although no wants to have any type of unexpected emergency surgery I have to say that my entire experience with Dr. Freeman her office staff and the nursing staff on the 6th floor of St Peters Hospital in Olympia have been amazing and exceeded all of my expectations. read more

I would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE!!! Their staff is very disorganized, they were ALWAYS running late. The day my mapping was scheduled for my vein surgery the guy was sick, they had NO ONE else to do it. Only "1" guy to do the mapping for all those surgeons! I was told to just come in an hour early before my surgery and Dr. Kevin Robinson (my surgeon) would just do it. Consequently Dr. Robinson did a half-assed job, he did not fix all my veins, one of them kept collecting blood which had to be drained several times and I now have 2 lovely scars from it. I ran into one of my old co-workers who also had surgery done by Kevin Robinson and she almost bled to death and is now suing him!!!! read more
