Imagine a bunch of incompetent tax preparers gather together to split their rust and get more funds for ads. That's all! Otherwise they would be running their own practices not working for someone else. Tax preparation is not health services when you need hospitals with multimillion dollar building and equipment and different branches of professionals next to you. We utilized Robert Hall & Associates for our tax filing for the past three years. Initially, the process went smoothly and we decided to continue despite the high costs. However, in the second year, our previous CPA had left the firm without notifying us, and we were scheduled with a new CPA whom we had never met before. The firm was undergoing a significant transition, including the retirement of Robert Hall, and our new CPA was half an hour late to our scheduled appointment. Despite several attempts to follow up, it was impossible to communicate with him, and we managed to file our taxes at the last minute, unsure if all documents were incorporated into the return. Despite our bad experience, we foolishly decided to use the same firm this year, only to encounter more problems. Our return, including the payment vouchers required for IRS payment, was not shared with us, and we were never informed that they would use vouchers instead of direct debit. We had to plead with someone to respond to us and provide access to the return and vouchers. At this point, we have requested a refund from the firm, but they have been unresponsive and unreachable. As a result, we recommend that anyone considering this firm interview several other firms and conduct proper due diligence before agreeing to work with them. You're basically throwing your money into this black hole of a company. It's going to take even more work getting it back. read more

Pre pandemic the firm was staffed with knowledgeable accountants but Robert cycles thru people and has not kept pace with talent. Last year was a low point...services were at an a low...disorganized and limited to a 1-hour review of our returns with Robert. At which point he hit us with a bill that was 3x $$$ the cost. Totally unexpected and unappreciated but in order to make deadline, he had leverage. I've since moved firms to a more transparent and organized team. I rarely leave negative reviews but felt compelled to here to warn future potential customers of this company. The business development department of Robert Hall and Associates was great. They were able to quickly connect with me to schedule a consultation with one of their tax preparers. The quality of service quickly degraded from here. After promptly speaking to the tax preparer and uploading my supporting documents, I didn't hear anything back until the day prior to my filing deadline. After reviewing the return, I noticed some potential discrepancies and asked for a 15-minute call to clarify those items. Over the course of the next several weeks, I made multiple attempts to setup a telephone meeting and even escalated the issue to their Chief of Staff for assistance. I was never able to get in touch with the tax preparer. To make matters worse, I received a paper copy of my return in the mail. The paper return did not match the digital version I was initially asked to sign, with differences in amounts owed/refunded exceeding $7,500. After attempting to contact Robert Hall again via phone and email requesting clarification, I still wasn't able to speak to my tax preparer. Since my tax return was delinquent and there were multiple discrepancies in accuracy, I asked for a refund. My request was ignored. I started to receive aggressive notices from the IRS and FTB and had to contact a different company to assist me with my return from scratch. I recommend staying clear of Robert Hall & Associates for your tax matters. read more
