"AVOID AT ALL COST: Terrible Experience with Robert Hall & Associates" I recently had the unfortunate experience of using Mike Watson for my tax preparation, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Here's why I strongly advise against entrusting them with your taxes: Incompetent Staff: The staff seemed clueless and untrained especially Carlos. They struggled to answer even basic questions about tax laws and regulations, leaving me feeling uneasy about the accuracy of my return. Poor Communication: Communication was practically nonexistent. Emails and phone calls went unanswered for days, if not weeks, causing unnecessary stress and frustration. It felt like pulling teeth just to get a simple update on the status of my return. Mistakes Galore: To top it off, my tax return was riddled with errors. Incorrect numbers, missed deductions, you name it. It was clear that attention to detail was not a priority for Mike Watson. Overpriced Services: Despite the subpar service, Robert Hall & Associates charged exorbitant fees. I felt like I was paying top dollar for a bottom-of-the-barrel experience. 21 years ago a friend in the film business recommended Robert Hall & Associates as a tax firm well-versed in complications of independent production work, box rental, etc. That first year our refund increased tenfold and I've been back, happily, every year since. The family-run business vibe is palpable, but they couldn't be more stone-cold professional when it comes to filing. Stephen grew up in the business and it shows; he's well worth the premium rate he now commands. Over the decades I've worked with several other agents, all just top notch - answer questions readily, provide excellent adjustments and recommendations, work quickly and run helpful 'what-ifs.' Front office and phone staff are uniformly friendly and competent, always an indicator of the quality of service in back. I go in January (for the 10%discount ), mail in my tax forms when I get them, and after that the process is entirely electronic. Never a hitch, and by April when everyone else is scrambling and agonizing, my refund has been earning interest for months. I also completed estate planning with their affiliate Joseph McHugh. I have been a client for well over a decade now. If there is one thing I can say with 100% certainty it is simply this: ... For all your tax service needs; they are simply the best! The staff is very friendly and responsive; and the enrolled agents who work on our tax filings and other IRS related services, are always very knowledgeable and up to date on the tax code. My only complaint is that I don't think there is anyone to whom I have not recommended and referred to Robert Hall & Associates, because I don't get to earn any more referral discounts or gift cards. LOL. I have not met anyone who came to RH&A via a Google search or some other traditional way. Quite honestly, we all probably came to RH&A because a trusted friend referred us. However, one caviar: if you are accustomed to paying $50 to a "mom & & pop" tax prep shop, RH&A will be more expensive. But allow me to say this, the investment in having your taxes done PROPERLY (taking full advantage of every possible tax code deduction) will more than pay for itself almost immediately. We have been working with Robert Hall for 8 or so years now. We've been thrilled with the service which has been very professional. We've worked successfully with Chad Moseley as our Accountant. Chad is patient and helps explain things to us in layman's terms. He also does a great job communicating with the IRS when needed. Tony Watson, our tax EXPERT, has a wealth of knowledge in the field. What amazes us most is that he needs no time to answer a question that is posed. He has a passion for his clients and focuses on not only the current needs, but what is best for us in the near future. We find his advice to be exceptional. This was the first year I have had our taxes done by Robert Hall & Associates. Jay did a fabulous job. He took the time to determine which was the best way for me to file based on my personal living situation, divorced with two daughters in college! He answered my questions and provided explanations and examples to clarify. Jay went the extra step and suggested that we discuss options to decrease my tax burden and maintain many of the benefits I currently have. Living in Temecula, getting to Glendale to do my taxes would have been a fiasco. Fortunately, Robert Hall & Associates had the option to have a phone or online appointments. The cost of the tax services is higher than I have paid in the past. How is it that day have a such a terrible sounding receptionist that talks over you answering phones. Rude, uncouth. RH - you need to train your staff a little better guys...in these days of public sites like yelp, you cannot afford it! I have a small Business, I used to go to Watson, then was changed to Jay..never informed as to why? and without permission. These nice , mostly men, actually might be all, are not accountants but are the "peons" of the office and merely carry out the job and plug things into the pat program.. Specifically the women answering the phone today oct 14th between 9:30 and 10 am, needs some training in phone manner, really how hard it is to be polite and cordial? I have been happy using Robert Hall and Associates for the past 30 years Robert himself used to prepare my taxes when his kids were babies still and I had several other people in the last ten years do my taxes but still with the same company they are all very knowledgeable, and I'm happy paying for the maintenenance fee because when I get a letter from the IRS, all I have to do is send it to them and they take care of it.
