What really matters in those situations is how a company handles it afterward, and that is where this experience completely fell apart. My taxes may have been filed correctly, but the communication was not clear. I did not want 2026 quarterly estimated tax payments set up, and I never understood that this was what was happening. I believed the amounts shown were a payment plan for my 2025 taxes, not separate 2026 estimated payments. Because of the language barrier and the lack of a clear explanation, I did not understand what I was agreeing to. As a result, more money was taken from my account than I expected, which caused me to become overdrafted. When I reached out to get help resolving the issue, I was hoping they would at least acknowledge the misunderstanding and try to make it right in some way. Instead, when I spoke with William at the end, he was very unhelpful and basically made me feel like I was just out of luck. I was told there was nothing they could do, that I needed to deal with my bank myself to block future payments, and that they would not offer even a partial refund. That response is a big part of why I decided to leave this review. If they had simply handled the miscommunication better, shown some understanding, and at least offered a partial refund or some effort to make things right, I honestly think I would have been okay. On top of that, I feel the $700 fee was too high for the level of service and communication I received. Accuracy is important, but so is making sure your client actually understands what is being filed and what payments are being set up. Overall, I left this experience feeling confused, unsupported, and financially stressed. I understand mistakes can happen, but the way this was handled afterward was unacceptable. I would not use this firm again.

I don't need bookkeeping service or other yearly services they offer to clients. I need my individual taxes done with good advisement throughout the process. But I do have multi areas I am involved in: business entity, trust, retirement accounts, with retirement looming. I need someone well versed in all areas or someone willing to do research because I do like to dabble in varied areas. And I prefer someone who has similar investments that I am in, but even in the area of spirituality. Like minded people give me more peace of mind. Along with being avail via text just works for me. My accountants before were in Boston. I worked with them many years, but I wanted someone local. Someone who is actively investing in the same areas I am in. This is getting to be more important than you realize - digital assets. We are living in a fast moving world. You have to keep up: tax laws, technology, world events. Need to look at the whole of it not just having taxes done. Maybe I will need to add a financial planner soon? In the meantime, i am good. :)

He didn't get our tax return done when he said he would. Said he had a death in the family. Ok, I'm sympathetic to that. But when he finally got our return done weeks later, he made a big mistake that could've easily been avoided, which resulted in us owing $4k more in taxes, and then he had the gall to blame it on me. Considering the amount of time I spent making sure that he was working on our return and having to review it, I might as well have done it myself. The only silver lining was that his rate was low, but I also got what I paid for. (I did not provide you with two documents with conflicting info. One was a spreadsheet that I prepared that had my mortgage payments as part of my expenses. The other was the actual tax form from my lender with the mortgage interest amount which was the number that was supposed to be inputted. It was an oversight on your part. I don't take issue with how much we ended up owing in taxes. But if I hadn't caught the mistake, we would've underpaid.)

Sent a request on Yelp and received a quote I was OK with from Philip. The firm is conveniently located near downtown Monterey Park and has a private lot. Receptionist collected all my paperwork and offered me water as I wait. I worked directly with Tracy Xu who did a great job filing my 2019 taxes and preparing amendments on behalf of me for previous years. Tracy is also very responsive to phone calls and sends me paperwork to review via email. I am very pleased with the service I received and will be coming back to this firm on an annual basis.
