I saw Dr. Huang more than 5+ years ago when I was trying to diagnose a migraine issue. Ultimately, Dr. Huang had checked any potential ENT concerns related to migraine causes and prescribed me some nasal sprays. Over time, luckily they went away. From the visit, I also learned about my deviated septum, which is why I had issues breathing from my nostril growing up and up until surgery! I saw Dr. Huang at the end of 2025 to get a consult for nasal surgery. He recommended a Septoplasty and Reduction of bilateral inferior turbinates. Dr. Huang's bedside manner is one of the best I've encountered in the Sutter network. He is patient and responds to each question with confidence. What sold me was his confidence in this "easier" procedure since I had worries of potential side effects or complications post surgery. Of course, each surgery and how a patient responds and recovers is different, but Dr. Huang reassured that I would likely receive benefits, and not any digressions with my current state. That was enough for me, since I would do anything to get it any % better. I got the septoplasty in early 2026. Operation day was smooth and staff was friendly throughout. Post op and follow up care was good. Recovery is a bit of a pain with the splints and nasal drainage daily, but after a few months now, it is great to be able to fully breathe through my nose! I saw Dr. Robert Huang to discuss chronic sinusitis and two other ENT-related concerns. When I explained that I had three issues to talk about, he bluntly said he'd only address two -- no flexibility or curiosity about my full condition, which was surprising and disappointing. During the brief visit, he performed a laryngoscopy -- but never explained what it was, what it involved, or why it was necessary. There was no discussion of cost or any sense that this would be a separate, high-cost procedure. Later, I received a bill for $1,234 -- for a procedure I didn't request, wasn't clearly informed about, and lasted only a few minutes with no anesthesia or surgery. Insurance covered part, but I'm left with a $516 out-of-pocket bill -- far above standard pricing for something like this. When I asked about the charge, there was no willingness to review or adjust the bill, no explanation, and no effort to treat me like a valued patient. This experience felt rushed, dismissive, and exploitative. I strongly urge others to ask detailed questions about what's being done, why, and what it will cost before agreeing to any procedure here. The negative reviews here made me nervous about seeing Dr. Huang, especially considering the patient is my two-year-old son. A couple reviewers here write that he's not patient with young patients. But we just left his office, and our experience is entirely POSITIVE. Dr. Huang is extremely kind, warm, patient, and knowledgeable. I decided to have him evaluate my son despite the negative reviews here because of his educational background and expertise; I thought I'd just have to swallow the negatives if he's indeed impatient. But from the moment he peeked inside the patient room where we were at to the moment he left us to see another patient, the whole time he extruded warmth, kindness, and patience. He patiently answered my questions and explained his thoughts/opinions, clearly offering us three medical options. When he saw that I've also scheduled with a pediatric ENT specialist to evaluate my son at Stanford, he said that he didn't think it'd be necessary but also encouraged us to seek different opinions. Overall I'm extremely impressed by Dr. Huang and pleased with my decision to have him evaluate my son. Most of the time I don't have time to leave reviews for the gamut of services I have except the exceptionally positive or negative ones. This time the chasm between some of the negative reviews here and our personal experience is too huge, and I feel it's absolutely necessary for me to record our experience here so that another family in our situation would have the confidence to schedule with Dr. Huang. I have been looking at reviews for Dr. Huang before I came to the office today , just to make sure I am not going to someone with only negative reviews when I came across it. After I left the office I felt I was really lucky that I could be seen by Dr Huang, since I have just asked for first available appointment. He listened, explained what is happening and told me what to do to take care of my throat. If I need to be seen again I will definitely make a request for this doctor! Like the other pediatric patient, we had a less than optimal experience with Dr. Huang this morning. After recurring colds leading to ear infections, my 18 mo son saw Dr. Huang for a consultation. The dr was visibly annoyed and expressed his displeasure that my son was touching things in the office and complained that they would need to be disinfected. I tried to contain my son as much as possible, but it's not reasonable to ask an 18 mo to sit still for 20 min. I appreciated that the dr was thorough and wanted to address the root cause and not assume tubes would be the answer. I'm sure he is an ideal doctor for adult patients, but he does not have the tolerance or will to deal with children based on my experience. When asking why he recommended another round of antibiotics as a next step, he got defensive. He told me he was not treating the infection in a blanket way and that he would use a targeted antibiotic. I told him I wasn't suggesting he would treat it generically but wanted to understand if his approach was to use the least invasive option first, and he said yes. Aside from that, he did not leave time to ask questions and walked into another room where his next patient was waiting. Based on the poor experience with the doctor, the distance from home, and the amount of time it would take to get an audiogram (2 mos wait time and a pre-requisite for surgery), I am pursuing a second opinion outside of PAMF. I have shared this feedback directly with PAMF as well. read more

I felt the place is overpriced. I had a complain for ear pain and to be frank it was a general checkup as the pain had stopped by the time I had the appointment. Only one ear cleaning was done and I was told it was not due to a pre existing condition and I did not have pain due to debris in my ear. I was charged 696$ for the entire visit which is going from my pocket as I haven't met my deductible. I don't know about the negative review here - from an out of state person? That made me want to say something. Dr Huang has helped me with my nasal and ear issues for over a year. He is professional and very easy to communicate. I don't need to see him often anymore after he taught me some preventative tricks to avoid future infections. The most TERRIBLE pediatric we ever had! Today we brought in our 4-year kid to visit hime the 1st time, but we were disappointed that doctor Robert was just so impatient and rude. Our kid didn't expect a surgery so he was a little bit afraid. Because of this the doctor had some difficulties to finish the check. Then Robert was very unhappy and asked why we didn't use the force to hold the kid tightly. When we raised question about the necessity of the surgery then Robert Huang became very impatient and tried to push us to hurry because he would like to see other patients. During the whole visit the kid was scary of the doctor so he held the mum's neck so tightly as he felt anger from the doctor. It's very hard for us to imagine a doctor would perform this to his little patient so we don't think doctor Robert hold the bottom line of his profession. read more

He walk out of the consultation room without finishing the consultation. Great doctor. Dr. Huang is quite knowledgeable and explains things well. He worked with members of my family who are surgeons, physicians, and physical therapists in advising what to do. I had a growing mass of tissue next to a nerve on my cheek and Dr. Huang was very concerned with removing the tissue without damaging the nerve. At the instruction of my dentist, I inquired (key word: inquired) about an appointment to see an ENT doctor (using my Sutter Health online portal) to give an evaluation of my sinus bone to see if I can proceed with an implant. The portal was quick to automatically schedule an appointment, without informing me of bringing any required documents based off the details I gave. On the day of my appointment in February the ENT doctor (robert huang) unfortunately informed me that they do not give evaluations, although this part was due to the incompetency of the dentist, the disappointment with PAMF/SH came when this simple news update was billed to me for $354. This could have easily been communicated to me over the portal or email, and I could have avoided this unnecessary change, and waste of time. Furthermore huang was rude and impatient during my appointment; I as the patient was not aware that I needed to bring the requested images, this is THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE HEATHCARE "professionals" to correctly inform the patient BEFORE booking the appointment. If huang reads this his words were, "frankly this (appointment) is inappropriate" and "I think the code (billing code) is appropriate" - it's sad that this doctor believes charging $354 for a rushed ten-minute joke of an appointment, which again could have easily been provided/clarified online, is justified. The manner in which this appointment was carried out was unprofessional, if you value your time and money do not go here. read more

I'm sorry to see the negative review of Dr. Huang. It is important to realize that all surgical procedures have a risk of adverse consequences even if done perfectly. Dr. Huang is my favorite doctor at PAMF. I saw first saw him several years ago for chronic sinusitis and after conservative treatment failed, he ultimately recommended endoscopic sinus surgery, which has vastly improved my condition and quality of life. I'd never thought to review a doctor here, the way I do restaurants or stores, since that relationship is so much more complex than a simple retail exchange. But when I saw that someone left a poor review I felt I had to chime in. In my experience, Dr. Huang is very caring and professional. He has gone out of his way to help me treat and manage chronically blocked eustachean tubes. I've found him one of those rare doctors who understands that patients have cost concerns about treatment methods and doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions about options. He examined my nostrils then explained what were the causes of my breathing problem and listed out all the possible treatment options -- including nose spray and surgery.
