I have never seen a better bedside manner. I had my surgery this past Tuesday, 3/25/25. Today I got my stents and cast removed about 20 mins ago. Let me tell you, I can breathe like a dragon! I have no idea what made him change from being awesome to awful, especially when he performed 3 surgeries on me. I wish I would have seen his ugly side earlier than I did so I could have gone through surgery with someone who truly could support me regardless of how obvious the cause of my symptoms were. His ignoring me when I had a severe reaction to a medication HE PRESCRIBED is unacceptable. Not only did I find out the side effects I had were common from my psych DNP, but Dr. Wright also never told me about them in the 2 or 3 times he prescribed it. Also, he prescribed antibiotics with no confirmation I actually had an infection. He took 4-5 cultures during the time I saw him, so it was surprising he tried to prescribe it without determining if an infection was even present. I ended up not taking them as I am not a fan of taking medications without evidence of a problem they are supposed to treat. When he called me after taking over a week to respond, he made me feel that he was doing me a "favor" by responding to my email with no apology for the delay. Most doctors I've seen don't take more than a week to respond to an email or phone call, especially my current ones. If they did, I'm pretty sure they would apologize. I was not happy that he allowed his MA to give medical advice and rarely responded to emails I sent over the portal. While I'm happy to communicate with staff for administrative matters (appointments, prescription refills, and billing), I expect my doctor to respond directly to messages about medical concerns. I think it's disrespectful for a doctor not to directly communicate with patients about medical matters, and sends the message that their time is more important than mine. His ignoring me when I had a scary medication and pushing me to see a sinus specialist for an ear problem at a teaching hospital where the doctor hardly spends time with patients does not fit the criteria of awesome bedside manner. At an appointment in February 2019, he said he understood why I didn't want to go to a teaching hospital so not sure what changed. I felt like he broke the trust I had in him because I would never undergo three surgeries with a doctor if I didn't trust him. As an aspiring physician, I believe that the trust a patient puts into a doctor is sacred, and even more so when the patient has a lot of options for doctors (geographically and in their insurance plan). I know my ear issues have been historically difficult to treat but I do expect my doctors to communicate with me in a respectful and timely manner. He still contributed to my PTSD diagnosis (as have several male ENTs), but I've been able to move forward with the support of my wonderful psych DNP, therapists, and two female ENTs I saw a year after I dumped him. One of the two amazing ENTs I saw in 2020 was surprised that Dr. Wright did not order CT scans after both of my sinus surgeries in 2018 to confirm my sinuses were clear. She has been in practice longer than him and said an ENT should repeat the scans after surgery. Fortunately, the scan in June 2020 showed that my sinuses were clear but his not ordering scans after these surgeries makes me think he wasn't thorough in his follow up care. He did not have me come back for regular appointments to make sure the tubes he placed weren't causing problems. My current ENT said the tubes should be checked every 4 months as I've had chronic infections. To conclude, I am disappointed that Dr. Wright only seemed to want to help when the problem was obvious and ignore me when it wasn't. I don't expect my doctor to instantly fix my problem but I don't appreciate being made to feel that *I'm* the problem when they don't know what's wrong. A great doctor is one who isn't just there for me when my symptoms are obvious, but one who doesn't give up when it is not. Dr. Wright - if there's only one thing you will take away from this review, it's that you need to be a doctor who is there for patients when a diagnosis is obvious AND for patients when a diagnosis is not. As someone who will undergo my 9th ENT surgery in 3 days after suffering from chronic otitis media for a year (including 7 years of other ENT issues), I hope you recognize that ENT problems physically AND psychologically affect the quality of someone's life.

During my post-op recovery period - I had moments of concern due to some symptoms I was experiencing. Dr. Epstein and his medical assistant, Rosie, made sure that I was taken care of and that my symptoms are addressed. He made sure that everything is on track after surgery by following up regularly for several days after releasing from hospital. He took a good amount of time to answer all my concerns and questions before surgery since it was my first major surgery in a highly sensitive organ which I was nervous about. The scar healed very well over a period of a week and I got back to my normal routine in less than a week.

Back then, I was told that my blood vessels were too close to the surface. I would usually bleed from the left nostril. So when this problem bothered me again, I told my PCP, who referred me to Dr Lonergan. I told him about what the explanation of my nosebleeds had been when I was a child, asking if there was any truth to it. He said there was! I had a blood vessel that was too close, and Dr Lonergan cauterized it. Since then, I have never had a nosebleed. I also saw Dr Lonergan in September 2024 for a differential diagnosis. Since April 2023, I had been having problems with spells of vertigo lasting for hours, occurring out of the blue, and keeping me in bed, but nobody knew exactly why. My PCP and an urgent care doctor suggested that my blood pressure was dropping too low, and I started measuring it, but I did not find a correlation between these episodes and blood pressure. In fact, I could have an episode at 110/70 and then feel fine at 90/60. Finally, during an urgent visit, a primary care physician referred me to Dr Lonergan to rule out inner ear (balance) issues. Dr Lonergan examined me, found nothing wrong with my inner ear, and gave me a handout called "Vestibular Migraine." The handout described some of my symptoms very well and even mentioned that children who are car-sick often go on to develop migraines. indeed, I was this kind of kiddo, and even now, as an adult, I get car-sick when I am a passenger on narrow, meandering roads in the hills. So basically, in addition to my regular classic migraine with a headache that started when I was 3, I now have a second type of migraine called vestibular or vertiginous, and the neurologist to whom Dr. Lonergan referred me confirmed the diagnosis. But it was Dr. Lonergan who first suspected the true cause of my problem 17 months after it began, and before seeing Dr. Lonergan, I had seen many doctors who could not figure it out.
