Dr.Nason is very knowledgeable and he will make it very clear, he is extremely condescending and likes to talk more than listen. The entire office communication was extremely difficult, I would leave multiple voicemails and not hear back for days and weeks. I was going to have a tonsillectomy as well as sinus and septum surgery all at once to his recommendation, it took almost 2 weeks for them to inform my insurance and when I called to finally schedule he surgery it was more days of waiting for a call back. I had time to seek another opinion, discuss and schedule surgery with another doctor, they called me back the day before my tonsillectomy with my more responsible doctor, who split up the procedures, if not I don?t know how I would recover since the tonsillectomy has put me through the ringer. Nason is money hungry and arrogant. Their office is unhelpful. Do NOT go to this office. read more

Before my office visit I was able to have a telemedicine visit, even as a new patient. I greatly appreciated that. I was able to fill out all my patient forms online ahead of time, so they were completely ready for me when my appointment began. Dr. Young was very understanding of my issue and explained the different options I have for addressing it. This resulted in an in-person visit. I was greeted quickly and very friendly.  The waiting room is very calming; you only hear the light music from the front desk and the hum of the air purifier. The nurse who took me back to the room and took my vitals was very friendly and made me feel welcome. My visit with Dr. Young was awesome.  She explained everything she did, step by step, and was patient with all of my questions. Building is in a quiet area and has ample parking. I was already somewhat deaf when I suddenly lost hearing in one ear. I chose to see Dr. Nason because of his outstanding Yelp reviews, and believe me, they're well-deserved. I was able to make an appointment on short notice. Dr. Nason was calming, caring, and considerate. He never talked down to me. Fortunately, the problem turned out to be only impacted wax. Meanwhile, however, he also had my hearing rested by an audiologist in his office, who was extremely helpful in suggesting ways to deal with my existing hearing loss. I'll see Dr. Nason for any future hearing issues and any other issues within the scope of his expertise. I recommend him and his whole office highly. read more

Funny anecdote at the end. Dr. Nason is a charming, no-nonsense ear, nose and throat specialist who makes me feel better about my health and options. I'm going to celebrate my 67th birthday next month. My very grateful husband and children, niece and nephew will be there. We are all celebrating the awesome news made possible by Dr. Nason. He sent me for a biopsy on a small tumor in my Parotid gland. The lab here sent it to M D Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston because they found atypical cells. The diagnosis: Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma. Dr Nasons staff quickly scheduled surgery. He removed the Parotid gland and tumor along with 3 lymph glands in my neck to check for stray cancer cells. I felt so wonderful after surgery he discharged me. I went home and had a remarkable recovery due to his surgical expertise. He was confident he had removed the cancerous tumor with good margins and he worked hard to make me feel comfortable and peaceful that everything was going to be fine. I saw him today for removal of the drain tube. He came into the room smiling, he pulled the 4 page report out of my chart and said " Ms Finn! Look! No trace of cancer cells in the 3 lymph glands. Clear margins were seen on the Mucoepidermoid Carcinoma removed in surgery . It was a Low Grade tumor and it had clear borders, meaning it's gone! You don't have cancer anymore." I shed a few tears of relief and gave him a big hug as I left. This Doctor and his staff are so personable yet professional. All the lab work, tests and any referrals... Dr. Nason's staff took care of it! They are very considerate and help facilitate whatever my needs are. They are compassionate and patient!! I'm happy to recommend Dr Nason to my family and friends, because I love them and want them to have the best possible care. I have snored for years and have struggled with minor breathing problems. I went to ENT Specialists of Austin looking for solutions. I could not be happier with my decision or with my physician, Dr. Robert Nason. Brilliant, communicative, and friendly, Dr. Nason walked me through all of the options, and let me make an informed decision. He did not push surgery, even though he's a surgeon, and make me feel empowered to select what I wanted to do for myself. He even had some great new, less-invasive technology based solutions that I could consider. I had a surgery that they say it is one of the more painful surgeries one can have, and I won't suggest otherwise. But, the surgery was a godsend for me and one that I would happily do again based on the results. I went to see Dr Nason to address a problem that I have had for 10 years. The solution required surgery with a relatively high degree of failure. The initial consult took place before the pandemic and the procedure was put on hold until elective surgery was allowed in May. After my surgery at the end of May, I must say that I am thrilled with the results. Dr Nason was completely successful in correcting the problem and also corrected another recurring issue that I was having during surgery. He was completely professional in all interactions and his staff at ENT specialists was first rate. I sleep better, I breathe better, and my life has been changed because of my surgery. Dr Nason interacts with people on their level and treats all of his patients with civility and respect. He knows what questions to ask and how to ask them and he gives you enough info to feel comfortable to move forward with confidence. I had the pleasure of seeing this doctor last week. When was the last time you used "pleasure" and "doctor" in the same sentence?? My ears had been giving me itchy fits for months, so much so I just knew there was a whole colony of Funguys or a small bread factory up in there. But, nope. Dr Nason reassured me I just had a buildup of wax. He was very easy to talk to and to joke around with and, ladies, he's easy on the eyes too! OH, and on the ears as well...when he came at me with that loooong, skinny...suction device, my eyes got big. But he was super gentle and talked to me all the way through. He suggested a home remedy for me and of course admonished me about "Q-tipping", which, like most other things that feel soooooo good, is bad for you and frowned upon by the medical community. :( Setting up the initial appt online was super easy and I was able to download and fill out the tome of new patient forms before coming in. His staff were also very friendly and tempered my sticker shock from the visit with a "but you only have [a tiny amount]left on your deductible!" If you want an honest, down-to-earth doctor who speaks to you like an equal, I recommend Dr Nason. I felt like I was talking to a friend who I can be open with rather than a doctor I just met for the first time. I have been to 4 or 5 different ENT physicians in 3 different states over the past 26 years, and I feel like this was the first honest ENT appointment of my life. This appointment was a second opinion for minor surgery (polyp removal, and possible 2nd deviated septum) that was suggested by Capital Oto. a few weeks ago, and I wanted to inquire about the Polypvac in-office procedure that Dr Nason can do. (Capital Oto always suggests surgery, especially now that they do surgeries in a hospital they own). I don't believe surgery will solve all my lifelong sinus, cough, and allergy issues, so I really just wanted to find an ENT who won't claim that surgery is my only option and will solve everything. Dr Nason was honest and told me it's just my body's way of dealing with the world - surgery may help some but treating the cause is what will help long term. That's pretty much all I wanted, honesty. I don't want to run into outpatient surgery for every little thing that comes up, so I just want honesty and what alternatives there are (other than more oral steroids). For sinus issues, he has a scope with the monitor facing towards you so that you can see the same thing he sees, which also helps to keep things honest. The office staff was friendly and let me know before I saw the doctor about my $800 deductible. I already knew it, but I appreciate them reminding me that something that day may cost me more than my co-pay. read more

Terrible week with horrible ear pain. Called this office and they were able to get me in the next morning. The staff members were so nice on the phone and even more so in person. Dr. Nason is a fantastic doctor. Please see him if you have a similar condition as mine. Here is my story: It all started in Houston when I visited a local ENT doctor about a pain I was having near my left jaw. After a CT scan, the doctor informed me a salivary stone was present within my left submandibular gland. This, in fact, was a correct diagnosis; however, the surgery that I had with the doctor in Houston was unsuccessful. Not only could the doctor not locate my stone for surgical removal, but a ranula developed on the inside of my mouth due to trauma during the surgery. So now an additional problem has been created without solving my original problem. As you can imagine, I am getting more desperate to find an ENT doctor who deals routinely with salivary stones and related issues. After searching the internet, I found that Dr. Nason specializes in this particular field. Even though he is located in Austin, I make the 2 1/2 hour trip to pay him a visit, and we discuss options. I told him that I would prefer a conservative route of treatment which means salivary stone removal first, and then gland removal, if needed. For my first surgery, he removes the stones successfully. However, due to my previous surgery in Houston, a ranula continues to form inside my mouth which means that proper salivary drainage is still not occurring. I set up a subsequent surgery with Dr. Nason to remove the sublingual gland as this can be a culprit for ranula formation. It has been nearly three weeks from the removal of my sublingual gland, and the ranula has nearly disappeared! The great thing about Dr. Nason is that he will walk me through all treatment options and scenarios. This approach gives me great confidence before making a decision that affects my health. He has been able to ease the pain and swelling on the left side of my jaw with each surgery. Given my confidence in Dr. Nason, I have a life-long ENT doctor that I can trust. I am very glad that I visited his practice. He has made all the difference. read more

I was really disappointed that his receptionists would not let me make an appointment to see him without an audiologist in the office at the same time. They said in the case of a possible perforated eardrum, there has to be an audiologist in the office. You can't come back later to see the audiologist. He was highly recommended by our pediatrician. Oxygen is NOT overrated! Dr. Nason performed several procedures to improve my airways. He, the surgery center staff, and his office staff went above and beyond to ensure I made an informed decision and felt comfortable with the procedure. In a time when most medical appointments are handled by PA's or busy doctors on a 10 minute rotation, Dr. Nason was at every appointment, even the post-op check-ups. I met with many ENT's in the Austin area. All who felt my sleep apnea issues should be managed by use of CPAP machine. I am an active person with healthy weight, but still had mild to moderate sleep apnea. For five years, I could not sleep without use of the CPAP machine or I would wake up gasping for air. I had a strong gut felling that my sleep apnea was obstructive in nature and if I could only find the right surgeon to fix my structural issues, I could have my life back and no longer be tethered to a breathing machine. I interviewed Dr. Nason and found him to be very personable and a great listener. I never felt rushed. He answered all my questions no matter how trivial. Dr. Nason suggested doing a procedure called a UPPP to help with obstructive issues. I went home and did more research on the procedure and came back for another visit to ask more questions. I knew that the procedure would be painful, but it offered good odds that I could breathe on my own again. I am now four weeks post UPPP. Dr. Nason is good, but his scheduling 'front office' needs help. I just took my 83 year old mother out to Cedar Park for an appointment which was set up months ago, only to find out that Dr. Nason was not there. The receptionist says the 'front office' had called and left a message about wanting to reschedule. I got no such message. So if you set up an appointment with ENT Specialists, it may be a good idea to confirm the appointment before going. read more

We were visiting family near Cedar Park after the 4th of July when our son got a nasty double ear infection. We visited a local pediatric urgent care twice as our flight home got closer and nothing they gave him was helping. In a panic I called ENT Specialists of Austin the morning of our flight and not only did they fit us in that morning (despite knowing we wouldn't be ongoing patients), Dr. Nason and the staff were beyond kind and caring with my tired 8-year-old who'd been in significant pain for days. Dr. Nason spent a great deal of time with us, performed a comprehensive exam (as did the audiologist, who was also wonderful) and got us on the right track for treatment, all with a calm, caring bedside manner. I immediately told all our family in the area to consider this office when they need an ENT. We also have a high-deductible medical plan and had not met our deductible yet and not only did this office accept our out-of-state insurance, the bill was far, far less than the urgent care and cheaper than any doctor visit we've had in WA in the last few years. read more

I found Dr Fyfe and Abeda (the audiologist) at Austin Auditory Specialists about 3 years ago when I found myself needing hearing instruments after experiencing hearing loss. Dr Fyfe was excellent, did a great job of helping me understand more about my hearing loss, and did a very thorough evaluation. Abeda was terrific, very patient in answering my questions and helping me understand my options. She spent a lot of time with me educating me about how hearing instruments work and helping me select the best one for my needs. And since then her level of support has been as good as it gets. If you need a great audiologist, I strongly recommend you contact Abeda at Austin Auditory Specialists. And if you're looking for a great ear doctor, Dr Fyfe is your guy.
