I came in yesterday 12/3 for a consult with Cassie Dean PA-C because I have been having some issues with my throat for several months. From check in, to the end of my visit it was a easy, smooth process I was greeted with all , smiles the MA who roomed me was very sweet and kind, Cassie listened to all my concerns and made me feel heard ! and put my mind more at ease. She even looked into my throat through my nose which I was hoping for but also didn't expect it to happen the first visit! I have had only positive encounters with Capital ENT and Sinus Center. I saw Dr. Dharamsi for sinus issues. He was very thorough in his assessment and developed a treatment plan specific to my health needs. He had a great bedside manner and explained things simply. I had to have nose surgery and I can honestly say it was be best surgical experience ever, and that is saying a lot because who wants surgery? Great pre-op and post-op care and instructions. Dr. Dharamsi personally called my caretaker to inform them of my procedure and care needed. His office staff are super friendly as well and his PA Cassie D was equally kind and helpful. I had extensive upper respiratory surgery by Dr Slaughter in 2009 due to chronic (decades worth of) sinus infection. The surgery was fantastic; resolved the infection and I felt much better. On my follow up visit, I wanted to address that whatever anesthesia was used, wiped out too much memory. When I asked Dr Slaughter who the anethesiologist was (as in his name) he said, "Oh, he's just the doc that passes gas! Hahaha!" and never came back to the fact that I could not remember things that I should. It is a very bothersome answer. Also, I asked why I never snored before the surgery and now afterwards, I do. I don't recall an answer, but it wasn't satisfactory. I believe during the surgery, my soft palate was stretched out and became more flaccid, allowing greater vibration. I also asked what all they did during the surgery. His answer: you got the "Roto-Rooter." Now I'm thinking he's a clown. A few years later, my snoring had gotten disruptive to both my husband and me, so I made an appointment with Capital ENT; they have my records and take my insurance. The office has a strange processing vibe, not friendly. Each person talked about the snoring as an issue for my "bed partner." I asked every staff member to please refer to him as my husband, not bed partner. Not one of them would do it. It was very insulting. Maybe they can't stay married, maybe they sleep with a lot of people. I have been with my husband since we were 17 yrs old. He is my husband; he is much, much more than a bed partner. I left the office disgusted and have never returned. Looks like Dr Slaughter has not been at this practice since 2016. Whatever. I'm using a different otolaryngologist outside of Austin. read more

Although I was not happy I had to come here, I am grateful for the care received from LATIF M. DHARAMSI, MD. My baby boy was born with a tongue tie, a rather robust one as well. Thankfully it was identified early, during his first doctor visit, and insurance worked the referral quickly on their end. At 6 weeks old, my little baby got his tongue tie snipped. It was very traumatic for me. I have no idea if the doctors here are any good, because I could not get passed the rude and incompetent receptionist. My primary Dr sent a referral to this place, nobody ever called me. I called and was told to put Dr Wassnuth on the referral. Then the second referral was wrong because he does not do ears. (1) Several days before my appointment, I emailed a letter detailing my health history to Dr. Wassmuth, so that all the info was organized and clear rather than being communicated scattershot in a long Q&A in the office. When I got to the office and checked in, I asked to make sure they'd given him the letter that I'd emailed, but they said they didn't receive it. (2) Staff insultingly suggested that I didn't actually send the letter, then asked me to "re-fax" the letter. Mind you we're having this conversation at the reception desk! As though I'm carrying around a fax machine with me. And of course if I had a copy of the letter with me then I could just hand it over so they could make a copy, why would I need to "refax"? They eventually found the email in their inbox, unopened. (3) When the Dr. Wassmuth arrived and mentioned that staff had only just then given him the letter, I asked if he had the time to take a few minutes to review it (since I'd spent a lot of time preparing for his and my benefit). He said he'd looked over it, then proceeded to ask questions to which almost all the answers were in the letter. He didn't apologize for staff not getting the letter to him earlier, either. (4) Since I wasn't getting results from my CPAP machine, I brought it with me to see if he could help me make sure I was fitting the mask correctly, etc. But he wouldn't even look at it, he referred me to a medical supply shop to have that done. (5) That shop gave me misinformation about the equipment (i.e., that you can use the filter and the dehumidifier together; as I learned later, you can't, it restricts air flow). When I continued to have poor results, I looked around on the Internet and discovered that I could use one or the other but not both together; that made a world of difference. (6) He rushed off before I could ask all my questions. (7) The two neurologists the doc referred me to have very bad reviews. (One has 2.8 on HealthGrades, a C on BBB, 33% negative on Yelp, the other was similar.) I left the office dejected. I won't return. read more

Office experience was good. I was scheduled a CT for sinus issues. Dr. Sorce and Office staff would not discuss my CT results unless I have an Office visit so they can charge me and my insurance over $300. I have never experienced this. All other doctors post results on my portal and communicate through my portal. I got my results through my Primary provider. Nothing Earth shattering. The best thing I did was take my records to a new ENT office, Dr.wassmuth has severe anger issues, after working with him and noticing his nurse and other doctors had to step in and when he showed up completely angry, defensive after my face was bruising it's self from swelling, was called in a prescription he was blocking ( mentally was acting dysfunctional) . Zachary Wassmuth purposely didn't want to diagnose for insurance, he is a medical legal liability , he discouraged and plays mind games so you don't use your own insurance as my insurance does cover and was wrongfully charging me. Zachary Wassmuth is a scam fraud, doesn't keep track of scans, steriods, had me do septoplasty, terbinate radio frequency surgery, left nose polyps, wouldn't give insurance proper codes, discureges insurance use, with gaslighting manipulation tactics. Zachary Wassmuth doesn't know how to run a business and creates breathing health issues as my breathing health has declined since all of his failed surgeries and will not treat with the right sprays, or common medical cleaning and health practices so he can feed his greedy ego that's severely dysfunctional and in denial . After my surgery post op today a red angry bold face lier Dr.Wassmuth wanted to contradict, lie and make hypocritical statements as I have picture, medical proof and wanted to keep doing surgeries out of insurance for more money rather they call in non steroid NAC , anti histamins to get to the source of the allergy irritation. I AM SO ANGRY WITH THIS PRACTICE!!!!! Avoid these idiots if you do it want to have your time and gas WASTED. I called them on 11/2 to ask if I could come by and get some little rubber tips for my hearing aids. They said they would give the message to the audiologist. Then I heard nothing. So this morning I call back and ask again and they said they would be open til 4. I show up at 3 and they are CLOSED for a training. How hard would it have been to just tell me that?! I've also had problems here getting prescriptions refilled. My Dr., Brown, is fine. The audiologist is ok too. But the office staff just apparently can't be bothered. read more

I randomly picked Dr. Dharamsi because he was In Network for my insurance. And I couldn't have chosen a better ENT. Not only is he a great doctor, he and his staff go way above and beyond.! He continued the treatment of my sleep apnea and I tried using a CPAP machine for 2 years with no significant improvement in my condition. A recent sleep study revealed that I still had mild sleep apnea, so I asked Dr. Dharamsi for alternative treatments. He suggested the Inspire Implant. It was improved by my insurance, so I had the procedure this past Monday. My recovery has been amazing and I can't wait for 3 more weeks until it gets activated. DO NOT Let DR. DHARAMSI perform surgery on your nose!! He dented my right nostril and permanently ruined my breathing out of my right nostril. He convinced me to get a septoplasty although I didn't want it and didnt need it. I had no issues breathing out of my right nostril before and it was not dented. Dharamsi refused to acknowledge how horribly he messed up. I went to several other ENT doctors following his botched surgery. The dent was of course visibly evidence to every doctor, and they could all determine how I could barely breath (sometimes not at all) out of my right nostril. I have to have another surgery with a plastic surgeon, and I STILL CANNOT BREAHT OUT OF MY RIGHT NOSTRIL. PLEASE DO NOT LET DHARAMSI TREAT YOU! Honestly, one of the best experiences in a medical provider's office I've ever had. The front desk staff member was so very kind, professional, and welcoming. The Audiologist was efficient and explained everything well since it is a rather uncommon experience for most patients...and it was sort of fun (haha). The provider, Dr. Brown, took the time to explain my issue and address my concerns and questions. It was a quick appointment but thorough that left me with everything I needed to address previous issues and what I should do should this issue reoccur. The only "concern" I have is that I reviewed my visit through the patient portal following the visit and found that my temperature and blood pressure was documented even though the MA didn't take any vitals. She, like everyone else, was very professional and personable; but she asked me if I had my flu and CoVID vaccines then asked my height and weight. It doesn't seem appropriate to be documenting things that, either, never happened or are inaccurate. Overall, fabulous experience and I wouldn't consider any other ENT/oto office should I require their services in the future. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars for Dr. Dharamsi. I just had surgery to correct a deviated septum and turbinate reduction. I can breathe sooooooo much better now. The surgery recovery is not super easy but definitely worth it. Dr. Dharamsi is an EXCELLENT SURGEON. I'm thrilled with the result and haven't been able to breathe this well in 20 years. I would highly highly recommend Dr. Dharamsi, he is the BEST! Would trust him with any ENT needs - sheer excellence! Update: Completely heeled, and I'm so happy with the result, I can take such a deep breath now. In 2022 I had congestion, ear pain, and hearing loss. After seeing a different ENT, I ended up seeking care from Dr. Dharamsi. He decided I had had shingles in the ear, causing the pain and hearing loss. I told him I had never had any type of rash, which apparently didn't matter. He spent an hour telling me that my hearing would never return and the stuffy sensation would be permanent. A couple of months later, my hearing restored, and the answer was "that never happens." Well.. A constant feeling of a lump in my throat and pain on the front of the neck was decided to be "allergies" and diagnosed as "chronic pharyngitis." He had me on multiple rounds of antibiotics that did absolutely nothing! I never went back. This summer, 2024, I ended up having to have my thyroid removed due to chronic subacute thyroiditis. The inflammation was so bad that the gland had attached itself to strap muscles and other structures in the neck - Causing the pain and inflammation everywhere in the throat, radiating to the ear. The lump in the throat was not "caused by being overly concerned," as he wanted me to think. And it could have been dealt with, if it had been treated when it started. It was never Shingles! The nursing staff kept telling me how brilliant Dr. Dharamsi was, and I guess that should have been my first clue - if you are brilliant, your staff will not have to oversell! Maybe this doctor is great for the basic, easy to diagnose, ENT stuff. But he will not look outside the box and problem solve. read more

The Dr. did the check up for a thyroid, referred me to Scott-White and said would send the paper work to them for further treatment. Waited for call from S/W, none for several weeks. Called Ent, got nurse's answering service, left message, never heard back. Called S/W, never had received an order. Finally, gave up, went to new Dr. and had the testing and results done in a week. read more

In need of a septoplasty, I decided to go with Dr. Wassmuth after reading the positive reviews online and doing an in-office consultation. I thought I had a pretty severely deviated septum so I sought out doctors who were double board certified in both Otolaryngology and Plastic Surgery as well as doctors with just an Otolaryngology certification. I noted that Dr. Wassmuth was only Otolaryngology certified, but he assured me he had done hundreds of surgeries over the years and felt confident in his abilities. All I have to say post op is that the surgery was not successful. My septum is still in the same state. After my surgery, he said that because my septum deviation was closer to the tip of my nose, he was not comfortable operating on that part of the nose. A doctor should absolutely inform their patient of this information prior to surgery and refer them to another specialist. I am extremely disappointed and feel misled. If you have a complex deviated septum, I would advise you to get your surgery from a double board certified doctor. The only saving grace is that the surgery did not make my condition worse, though a second procedure in the future will have higher risk. read more

Omg . Do not go here . I had a deviated septum in 5 places . They told me downtime would be 4 days for a septoplasty and I was scheduled within 2 weeks . The surgeon that I consulted with and thought was doing my surgery- did not . I had surgery with one of his counterparts and that was not noted or made clear prior , only after I was sedated on the day of the surgery. I was incredible pain and had (and have ) swelling post procedure. They did not call in pain pills prior only an anti-nausea pill and steroids . They told to take Tylenol extra strength for pain . I called the practice on day 3 and said I needed something stronger for pain , 1.5 days later , they finally called in a pain killer . They did not tell me to sleep upright , how many times a day to use the saline rinse , or the Efrin, or explain anything really . I was in shock on day 4 (when they said I would be totally recovered ) that the swelling had reached around my lip lines . It was not a chipmunk cheek- but looked deformed . They did not make me aware to expect any of these things . I am set set for a follow up tomorrow , even Though I told their staff multiple times I will be traveling and they were supposed to make it a virtual visit - but of course they don't hear . This place is a money grab . I had 3d images of my nose and they did them again on their outdated machines just for insurance $. My nose - looks like crap btw . Don't go here . read more

First, I was pleased with Dr. Dharamsi and his assistant. But it went downhill when I attempted to get my prescription called in to my local compounding pharmacy. Despite my call (I left a voice mail regarding the prescription having not been called in), and my pharmacist's call to what she described as a confused office, I still do not have the correct prescription. They provided the wrong prescription to my pharmacist, which I learned after reviewing the ingredients after bringing it home. A prescription is not returnable so I'm out nearly $50. By the time all this took place, Capital was closed for the weekend. I will return to see Dr. Dharamsi, if needed, but I will be on high alert for office miscommunication and misinformation. read more

My best advice for anyone considering surgery from this practice is to get a second opinion. I had surgery here and yes I needed two of the procedures which were performed, however the other 7 procedures which were performed were not necessary according to another ENT I visited after I lost confidence in Dr. Dharamsi. Some of the non-necessary procedures caused me additional problems as well. Dr. Dharamsi wrote items in my surgical notes justifying the surgery which were not true. After seeing another ENT post op, I realized that Dr. Dharamsi was not very thorough and seemed to want to get the bill as high as possible for both the surgery and office visits. After years, I was told not to be a patient because I took too long to pay. Is it my fault that every time I checked out; I got a different answer and those girls who change every 6 months don't know what the F they are doing? ...or charging? Dr. Thompson at Capital Otolaryngology is my hero right now! Why? Well, I can finally breathe normally and I don't snore like a 900lb gorilla any more! Yep, it's all true. Here's some of the reasons why this place is great: 1. Dr. Thompson is a great doctor. He talks to you as an equal and never makes you feel dumb for asking questions. He is very patient and spends the right amount of time with you. I've seen him 4 times so far for various visits and never once did I feel rushed. 2. The front desk staff is fast and efficient. They might not be the friendliest, but they are good at their jobs. They get the job done quickly and correctly. I've never had to wait on them to finish my stuff, which is nice. 3. The appointments seem to run almost always early or on time. I'm always early for my appointments. 3 out of 4 of my appointments, I was called back and seen by Dr. Thompson before my official appointment time. 1 appointment ran a little late, but only by about 15 minutes, which Dr. Thompson apologized for. 4. If you need sinus surgery, which is actually very easy, you can do it in the office, if your insurance allows it. My insurance didn't, so I had to do it in a hospital setting. The office set up and arranged everything for me. They pretty much told me to just show up on this date at this time. It was very easy. I have mixed views on Dr. Slaughter... he did a good job fixing a deviated septum a few years ago, the recovery was practically painless (although a friend had the opposite experience, sometimes it's just hard to tell what will happen). I went back some time later for another issue, and realized his focus definitely is surgery - I wouldn't go to him first, go to a regular ENT that isn't focused on surgery for an opinion if you have an issue, there might be some non-surgical options you can try first. read more

I went to see Dr Brown after several (10+ years) of congestion and difficulties breathing through my nose. Dr Brown was able to quickly and effectively diagnose my problem. I had consulted elsewhere before and doctors were very quick to propose a septoplasty. Dr Brown on the other hand proposed a less invasive turbinate reduction. And i am so glad he did. Twenty years after some major sinus surgery, I started to have problems again with some serious sinus issues after airline flights. I went to Capital Otolarngology based on the reviews, and met Dr. Latif Dharamsi. I had a great experience. He listened attentively as I described my issues (and most importantly, he took me seriously), *examined me first*, and only then said that I was a great candidate for the new balloon sinuplasty procedures. He explained the procedures, and for my urgent condition, was able to immediately schedule me within 72 hours for surgery, which is right in their office. The surgery went great. The anesthetist and the nurse were very accurate, helpful, and professional. After surgery, the minor side effects were exactly as he described they would be, and the surgery was a fantastic success for me with very little cost after insurance. The severe problems are gone. I received two post-op follow-up visits where he very carefully evaluated what was going on after the surgery. I also asked for a post-op hearing test and was amazed at how much hearing tests have technologically improved over the last 15 years. I was very glad to find out from the staff and doctor that my hearing was unchanged over the last 15 years. I cannot recommend Dr. Dharamsi and the staff enough. I have referred several people to Capital Otolaryngology since then and have gotten very positive feedback, including one person who needed hearing aid reassessment/upgrades and it was far less expensive and more accurate than she expected. Dr. Brown was but I cannot get my treatment. He prescribed me meds to continue to resolve my issue but the office has refused to send it to my pharmacy. I have made over 5 calls and 2 weeks later no meds at my HEB. My symptoms are now returning but I cannot get treated. I have no insurance so I paid 300.00 out of pocket for this appointment to get treated now I have to wait again next month to pay for another doctor to get treated and diagnosed all over again. I was told UP FRONT that I would not have to pay more than my $45 co-pay. I asked because on my previous visit I was billed for $272.51. Therefore on my second visit I SPECIFICALLY asked if there would be any bill besides the $45. Was told "no, your insurance will cover the remainder." A month later I receive a bill in in my mailbox for $362.00!! When I contact Capital Otolaryngology about it they say my insurance co messed up. Then they say they'll get it fixed and later hit me with a surprise bill of $136.20. My whole life I have always payed my bills on time. Generally the day I receive them. I've never even had to dispute a medical bill before. In this circumstance, C.O. should take it on the chin. It was their mistake and not mine. I'm furious about this and highly recommend that you find another ENT,A,SS. This company is obviously incompetent. This is not a dig at the Dr. She was great.
