Further ruined a vintage leather belt. First, let me say, I was VERY realistic about the repair since the belt is old & worn. The stitching had come undone at the end was my only issue. I asked if they could burnish the belt, they said for an extra $5 & I agreed. When I picked it up, they didn't stitch it evenly on both sides even though the stitching came undone evenly. They used edge coat at the end when I asked for burnishing because the belt is BURNISHED NOT EDGECOATED so now it's only edgecoated at the end which looks terrible. When I questioned the older gentleman who originally helped me (not the man who did the work apparently - who was apologetic & gave me my money back), he told me to take it somewhere else. How when restitching over their restitching will probably cause a tear??? I would've left only one star but I'm giving two stars for the way the man who did the repair treated me. He offered to removed the edgecoat but I didn't want to cause further damage. read more

So first I've not had shoes repaired here but when I was out piñata shopping with a friend we totally stumbled upon this place. (The repair counter is inside La Casa de Las Piñatas at the back of the store.) I kept Robert's card because I had a backpack that I needed fixed. They said they can fix pretty much anything...he did not lie. I took the bag in and he had me to put it on and measured where I wanted the straps to be. He said if he couldn't fix it his seamstress could. He told me it would be a couple of days which was awesome and faster than I expected. It didn't even take that long. He asked me to text him pictures and then replied with an audio message. I then called him back to ask about pricing, and guess what?! He said it would be free! I then drove over to the shop. I found street parking. I believe a man named Carlos greeted me and helped me, he was friendly. Carlos came back with my sandal which no longer had a hole. After reading several reviews i decided to take some vintage shoes there. I realized some of the shoes i took might not be able to be fixed but i felt comfortable with the two pairs of 1950 and 70s cowboy boots i left. One just needed glued where some of the reptile skin was coming up. Robert tried to upsell me on a clean and condition but i declined as i can do that at home. The service cost $6 and i verified we were just gluing a few spots. So you can probably understand my excitement when i came to pick them back up and they had used colored shoe polish to completely change the color of the boots to a much darker brown (some of which was on the grey leather and all under the boots, making it obvious they colored them.) Robert was on vacation so i called him because i was upset and asked why he did more than the $6 service i requested. I was very upset as these were one of my favorite personal pairs. He told me to not ruin his day about it (even though he had ruined my shoes) he would fix it and could sand them and i know nothing about shoes) When i brought them back in he informed they couldn't change out the sole of the other boots because of an ordering issue. Fine ill take them elsewhere which is what i should have done all along. I leave the other boots so they could stripe the color back to the original. Went to pick them up today and all they did was remove the conditioner. The boots are still the same color they dyed them and it's obvious in trying to sand and remove the color it was damaging the boot so I'm assuming they stopped. Removing the conditioner and the sanding further damaged the reptile skin and my boots are still the same dark color vs the light brown they were when i brought them in. They even tried to charge me for the $6 glue even though now several places need glued. Go at your own risk. Need a heel sure, work on your boots FIND SOMEONE ELSE read more

Roberto delivered excellent service at a very reasonable price. The heel of one of my boots came off and I needed a new one. He replaced both heels with Vibram materials. He took the initiative to nail on the heel replacement instead of just using glue and he polished both boots! I hadn't worn these boots in weeks because of the heel issue so they didn't look their best when I brought them in to his shop.
