$10-$15 for shoe/cleaning seems like a great price however the job is so poor you have to go to another place to actually have your shoes/boots properly cleaned. My boots still had several stains upon receiving them back and my shoes were not re-stained like I asked nor were they deeply conditioned. Unfortunately he does spend more time socializing with the local downtown people rather than actually cleaning/detailing your shoes. I try to support small local business when I can but when they do a very poor job, I no longer can. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more and go to someone who will actually take the time to do what you ask to help detail, preserve and protect your items. read more

I am well familiar with a proper shoeshine since I worked for years as a department manager selling shoes at Nordstrom and I am a Marine so giving a "spitshine" to shoes making them look like glass is a familiar area for me. The lady giving the shine here boasted she was the best at giving a shoeshine so I was excited about that. Overall she did a good job but from the conversation we had I really thought she was going to deliver and make my shoes, Ferragamos standout but not the case. Best shoe shine in San Diego. Joey has a few stands around and about San Diego Most days Joey and his wife are at the Horton plaza location next to Macy's and the Levi store. Lower level Man can he put a shine on a pair of shoes. We drop items off and return next day. PERFECT looking again. His prices are great 5 bucks that's 2.50$ and shoe best deal in town Kinda of fun to sit at the stand and here all the news for the day. He has a lot of visitors that like to hang around and talk!! Joey was able to save my pair of Tod's loafers whose spikes were worn out but the leather upper was still in great condition. He didn't replace the spikes (impossible!) but instead he fortified the heel with a flat sole. You can barely see it when you're walking. Took a weathered pair of boots I happened to be wearing and thought I'd give it a try. I'm sure Joey had the expertise however the woman he works with (wife?) kept interrupting with the worst attitude I've witnessed since moving to the west coast-made for an uncomfortable experience. Street clear of the woman and make sure you're specific with Joey and stop him if he gets carried away.
