I had a bit of a nightmare moment with my Bottega Veneta bag... literally right after getting it, I accidentally spilled skincare oil on it. I was devastated. I contacted another cobbler first, told to send photos, waited for callbacks, called them again and got vague answers about how delicate the leather was and how cleaning it could spread the stain... they said they'll think of ways on what to do and call me back and then never heard back again. Thankfully, I found Chito's Shoe Repair online and reached out by text with photos of my bag. Within 5 minutes, they responded and asked me to call. Jenny spoke with me personally and was incredibly patient, kind, and reassuring. She didn't make unrealistic promises, but she took the time to explain that she wouldn't fully know the outcome until she saw the bag in person. I was extremely stressed, and her honesty mixed with compassion immediately made me feel better. What truly amazed me was that even though the only time I could get there was after their hours, Jenny still accommodated me and allowed me to bring the bag in. That level of kindness and care is rare. When I arrived, she carefully inspected the bag and walked me through exactly what her cleaning process would be. She explained everything in detail and set realistic expectations while still making me feel hopeful. At that point, I honestly thought I may have ruined my bag permanently.. especially because in my panic, I had already tried a few things myself that probably made the stain worse. Two days later, I picked up my bag and it looked like NOTHING had ever happened. I genuinely could not believe it. The stain was gone, and my bag looked beautiful again. What stood out even more was how much Jenny genuinely cared about educating me. She taught me about leather care, explained how leathers react , and even gave me advice on a wallet project I was trying to fix myself. She wasn't trying to upsell me or push me to bring everything in for repair -- she actually wanted me to understand how to care for my own items. That says so much about her character and integrity. Poor service. 20$ for a zip fix with railings (like sweaters). Came by 3 days later, product was not ready. They repaired it in 5 minutes and added a clamp. I have to say I'm not happy with the service. I brought in my work boots because they were so inundated with oil that they had actually become hard. The staff was friendly and told me that they could wash the boots and clean everything off, then applying a product that would relax the leather. Well my boots are a bit softer, but the leather is now ruined after the treatment. I literally have holes and gouges in my boots that were not there before hand - the treatment apparently is extremely rough. My mistake was just picking up the boots without actually checking them over, a hard lesson learned. Needless to say I would not come here again, they had to have known what they did and chose not to say anything. Shady business is bad business. 10/10 would not recommend read more

I brought in two pairs of shoes. One repair went fine, the other went horribly wrong. I had an old pair of boots that just needed the heel piece to be replaced. They quoted me $10 and 1 week. Everything went as expected, and I've had no problems with them. I also brought in a pair of fairly new Roxy new flip flops that had the strap between the toes come out. I've been wearing Roxy flip flops since college and never had a problem, so figured it was just a random defect. I was planning to buy a duplicate pair for $30, but thought since I was bringing in boots, I'd check to see if they can repair this. They quoted me $16 and 1 week, and I thought it was pricey, but still saved me some money, so went for it. I picked it up on a Friday, and looked like all they did was glue it for $16. Okay, whatever works. Except it didn't work, and the strap broke again after wearing it for a few minutes on Saturday. So I checked and saw that Chito's was open until 3p that day, so I went down there at 2p, but found them closed already. I called when they opened again, and they told me to bring it back, so I did, and he said he would fix it a different way and told me to come back the next day, but I told him I'd be back next week instead since I was going out of town. When I showed up the next week, they were not worked on at all, and he promised me they would be done by the next day at noon. I go in the next day, and they still have not worked on it, and told me to come back in a few hours, but I couldn't because I was going out of town again. The following week, I learned my lesson and called first to ensure they were done, and they told me no, but it would be done the next day. So I call again the next day and finally got the okay to come pick them up. It's now repaired with additional stitching and loads of glue, and I've worn them twice without it breaking, but they put so much glue that there's a hardened part that sticks out and jabs my foot sometimes when I'm walking. I'm over it and am going to buy a replacement pair. Basically, instead of saving me any money, it cost me $16 + 6 trips, and at the end of it all, I have nothing to show for it. In summary, they seem pretty good at straightforward repairs that aren't on a tight timeline. Most reviews are positive, but reading through the negative reviews, I can see that they are not timely with repairs, and less common types of repairs can go horribly wrong here. read more

I brought in my docs to replace a buckle. The lady helping me was kind, helpful and was able to fix my shoes within 24 hours for a very fair price. She also has a variety of boots, shoes and vintage clothing for sale. I'm sad to see the storefront close but glad they will continue service at the farmers market. read more

I dropped off my motorcycle boots to have the left shoe zipper repaired as well as the sole reinforced. I paid $35 for these services only to realize later they were not actually done. When I called to speak to them about this they were apologetic, but gave me no options to resolve. I explained my situation which is that I'm currently traveling for work (dealing with motorcycles) in an RV and won't be back into SD for another 6 mos. There was still no effort to help me which only leaves me to sadly write a poor review. An apology only goes so far. I went back several years and looks at the photos people have posted of their repairs. Some good some bad. I think people forget to realize 1) its a small mom and pop shop, you're not their only customer. If you know you need a repair by a certain date don't wait til the last minute to take it and then get mad when they cant have it done on your time line. Who's fault is it really Karen!? 2) did you take them some cheap ass, poor quality shoe to try to give it a little extra life!? Were they some fake ass pleather shoes, or a $12 Walmart bag? Is it really their fault when they start to peel? The Keebler elves aren't real, there's no magic happening here, just good old 21st-century repair work. It's not meant to last forever. 3) They're human too if you feel some sort of sense of entitlement over them remember who is providing the service they don't owe anything. They didn't ask you to drive 45 minutes out of your way and spend your gas or time that was your choice. Stay in your lane. I recommend them any chance I get. I have gone in before and have left feeling like I didn't get the best customer service " I deserved ". What makes us feel like were owed respect or need to be treated like kings and queens. They're are human too, they have lives and family's outside of the shop, you are not their priority and, everyone is entitled to have a bad day. Think about that next time you feel like bashing someone on yelp because you didn't get what you wanted and now you feel like throwing an adult tantrum and talk shit on a platform that could hurt them boost your ego. read more

Very frustrating experience. I needed the sole of my shoe glued back on for my leather sandals. When I pick them up there is glue on the leather, on the sides of my shoe and spilling out of the bottom where it was attached. One of my shoes was even offset when it was glued down (it was pushed to the front and not in line with the sole). I did get a refund and now I need to take them somewhere else. read more

SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME AND DO NOT GO ANYWHERE NEAR THIS PLACE!!! If I could give ZERO stars I would! I have never been so INSULTED by a shoemaker in my LIFE. I work in property management and I had six pairs of heels that needed some TLC.. I called ahead and scheduled a time for Chito's to look at my heels. On Friday: The owner was who I met with; initially he was very nice and sounded like he has a set plan for my shoes. There was a certain pair that just needed a cleaning and a heel replacement that I needed for a wedding on Sunday (the shop is closed Sunday and Monday for Labor Day) The owner (old man) said it would be no issue to have this pair done by Saturday. I thanked him and was excited to have my shoes fixed! On Saturday I couldn't make it before the shop closed due to being caught up at work. So I waited until Tuesday (today) to go get my shoes. When I got to the shop there was one pair that just needed a cleaning. I will say that The owner (idk his name) said the fabric on this shoe is hard to clean, I understood. He told me he could do what he can for $5. Although, when I picked up the shoes they ALL looked EXACTLY the same as when I dropped them off. The shop itself is very crowded and dirty so I have him the benefit of the doubt, but I was disappointed! My shoes looked literally the exact same. When I noted that the initial pair that we knew would be hard to clean, still looked the same, THE OWNER snapped back at me and SAID "I cannot believe you're complaining right now, this is bullshit, this is what's wrong with your generation, you have no appreciation I have been busting my ass to get these cleaned!" I said "sir, I work in customer service too and I think you need to handle this with a little more class being you are a business owner" He snapped back "we have been open 30+ years, I cannot wait for you to leave my shop, blah blah" going on AND ON!! I was literally in SHOCK by the way he was speaking to me, and even tho "Chito" was "busting his ass" to clean my shoes, not only did they look the exact same as when I dropped them off, but he wasn't even done. I grabbed my unfinished shoes, threw $20 down the drain, and cut my ties. This man clearly does not like millennial' coming into North Park. But if he is going to stay in business another 30 years he should probably take a chill pill and learn to compromise with his customers. If he would of just dropped the $5 charge for the shoes that couldn't be cleaned, I would of given him more time to finish the others, and gladly paid the $50 for my six shoes. But this disrespect and making customers feel uncomfortable is so unprofessional and he should be put out of business. read more

Growing up, my dad always taught me there's nothing a little spit, elbow grease, and a shoe shine kit can't do for your leather footwear with regular upkeep. But after being out of work for a few months, my dress boots were in need of a bit more TLC than usual. Enter Chito's. I found this place through Yelp, called them first thing in the morning, and found out they were able to accommodate a drop-off and pick-up same day for just $8. I dropped off my boots at noon and they were ready when I got back around 2:30. I could immediately tell my boots were cleaner and shinier than when I left them. Overall, I was very pleased with the work performed considering the ease, cost, and short amount of time it took. This more than made up for the fact that it was a pretty basic shine job, all things considered. So, if you're looking for someone to work absolute magic with the brush, you're probably better off paying more elsewhere. But for the value and time, Chito's is a strong option that I would not hesitate to use again in a pinch. read more

I honestly wasn't going to do this but this place destroyed my boots and the blamed it on the fact that they aren't real leather and my husband refused to take a bag. My original review is on google and they weren't professional in person or on Google. My boots weren't damaged or peeling before leaving my boots with Chitos shoe repair. I just simply needed 1 heel replaced. Please see pictures below. The picture where my boots are torn up are actual holes as well in my boots done by the shop. Recently, I took my favorite leather brief case it is well over 25 years old and everyone urged me to throw it out. I couldn't do it to my old friend that literally traveled the world and had memories of such travels. Me: Can you save these? She: Let me check...yes, he can save them. I have these Kenneth Cole....well they're not boots...oh wait...ankle boots? High top dress shoes? They tie up the front and have these three hooks at the top. They remind me of shoes from the Victorian period. I wore them in this school performance, and the right sole came halfway off in the middle of the performance. Then the left one came off. But the show had to go on even though I felt sad about them. Throw them away? Hell no...need to take them to the shoe hospital. Shoes are like best friends...I know all of you have that one pair you love wearing. You also have the ones for special occasions. You may have a pair that hurt your feet at the end of the night, but they look and make you look so cool when you wear them. And then there's that pair that you spent some big coin on, that you don't wear so often, and when you do, you wonder why you don't wear them more often... These shoes are that pair. Picked them up today. Total cost, $20. They did a great job on reattaching the soles, and polished and shined these babies so they looked like glass. Can I wear them with my cargo shorts? Let me start by saying that I don't enjoy writing poor reviews. I generally give an establishment several chances to prove themselves prior to passing judgement. With that said, you simply cannot trust this business with your precious shoes. The store appears to be run by a husband and wife team, with support from an older man. Upon my initial visit, I dropped off two pairs of shoes that were in need of new soles: a pair of chukka boots and a pair of loafers. The "husband" told me that the soles on the loafers, which were cracked, could be glued instead of being resoled. I paid him $20 to fix the loafer soles. I let them sit for a couple days, and then after a day of wearing them, the soles cracked again. I took the shoes back and the wife told me that I needed new soles. I believe it was $70, and there was no offer of credit for the first repair that didn't work. Nice. Long story short, I picked them up with the new soles, and upon wearing them the next day there was an obvious and painful lump under the left insole. I took them back and they attempted without success to repair the lump while I waited. They were handed back to me with the lump visually apparent. Look in the shoe man. See that? It's a lump! I left the store with the shoes and went back on Saturday when I knew the owner would be there. He was apologetic and took the shoes from me, promising that they would get it right this time. Well, they didn't. There is still a lump under the left insole (although smaller), and after 5 weeks of wearing them the soles are coming apart. Check out the pics of what the shoes look like now. I'd tell about how they ruined my boots too but I'm exhausted. If the owner is reading this, I want my $90 back. read more
