I wanted to update my review to reflect my more recent experiences. Initially I thought I found an…read moreawesome dentist, but it was unfortunately too good to be true. A few months ago, I found Dr. Tillman from his reputation with patients. They explained to me that they run insurance estimates prior to, and that all payments would be required in advance or upon service. I had prepaid the amount quoted and then had some needed dental work done on top of that. Prepaid both times, and was told on my last visit that I was square. Turns out that wasn't true and now they claim I owed money from my first xray visit. Why wasn't this brought up on the follow up visit? Or the visit after that for corrections to the initial work? They will essentially balance bill you and say it was an estimate. I also had an appointment scheduled this week (for today), but they didn't have me on the schedule. Dr. Tillman personally called me on Jan 3rd to follow up on the remainder of the treatment plan HE recommended. Someone got confused and didn't add me to the schedule and they have no record of it. Funny how I have the voicemail and phone record for it. Dishonest and disorganized is how I'd summarize it. Dr. Tillman clearly cares for his patients, but something is disorganized and it's not me.

I like the dentist and I like the hygenists but the office staff is always selling, which is tiresome. He is extremely short and rude with ALL of his staff, this last visit I was rushed out the door only 8 minutes while he berated the staff for simply looking up my next appointment as asked. He does not actually DO most of the work and relies on his 100% female staff that he can boss around. After my last implant he was visibily frustrated with trying to get it seated, then forced my lips and his wrist in to jam it in place causing me additional pain and healing time. Not a single comment the next visit about the damage to my lips or even a follow up. He repeatedly tries to make assessments without actually DOING an oral exam first, just wants to give you the generic speach and push you off to the payment portion. I will be finding a new dentist for my family that has our best interests at heart, not how fast the can turn the chair and get more money.

I went back a month or so later with pain again in one of the filled teeth. I ended up needing a root canal (not due to their work, it was a large cavity) which stinks but I was credited for the previous filling! Great! Also, it was a mostly painless experience. The dental tech (can't think of her name currently!) is amazing at explaining what's going on and she was reassuring when we got to some tough spots. Healed well and I'm back in action. Occasional Saturdays available which is helpful because during the week they aren't open late. My insurance takes this office so I haven't found them to be unaffordable. They have in house payment/credit type programs available I believe.

My child's dentist had been warning us gum graft surgery was in her future and when it was time for…read moreher to get her wisdom teeth out they also recommended a periodontist to look at her gums. Dr. Almasri was abrupt at our first appointment and told her she wasn't taking adequate care of her teeth and if she continued on that way she'd lose them all in her 40s. I think he was trying to scare her a bit so I wasn't too concerned. We scheduled a deep cleaning done over the course of two visits and he and his assistants were gentle but thorough. They asked about her comfort throughout the procedure and made sure she was okay afterwards. Then it was time for the gum graft. That is a rough surgery but he walked her through it and answered all her questions. When it came time for the surgery he was as kind and caring as could be. They even called the next day to check on her. Unfortunately, three days later the roof of her mouth hemorrhaged at 11 o'clock at night but Dr. Almasri answered his cell phone and sent us straight to the ER. While we were there he spoke with the ER physician and we came to find out he was in Germany for a funeral. The fact that he took our calls while he was out of the country and did his best to troubleshoot from there cemented how caring of a doctor he is. I highly recommend Dr. Almasri for your periodontist needs. While he can be abrupt, his goal is to get your teeth and gums right and then not see you again.

If a doctor suggests something expensive ask if there is a different route. We need to advocate for ourselves. Do research. But most of all realize we have one set of teeth and if we want to be old people with teeth then we need to take care of ourselves. When I moved to Texas 6 years ago it was difficult to find a periodontist that would take care of me. Moving is hard and finding new doctors is even harder. This office is a place that cares. They took care of me when I needed care. They will work with you to coordinate the best care for you. They can help you maintain while you save for the necessary treatments. Dr. Almsari cares about his patients, and if he is telling you that you need something done it is because he cares. He gives you the diagnostic and treatment plan that is the best for your issue. It is ok to ask questions. The staff and doctor will help you with options. And they can suggest a discount plan you can sign Up for that can get you significant discounts. Also if you didn't know you can use your HSA and FSA to pay for your treatment so if you know you have a big procedure. Have work hold a few extra dollars on your contribution.
