Dr. Tara was informative, answered all of our questions, and was very direct about her concerns, which is what we were looking for. With Dr. Tara's guidance we were able to help her stop thumb sucking completely and her jaw structure was able to realign itself. Once Dr. Tara left the practice we stopped going there. My overall impression is that the office staff is very helpful, and accommodating. I would not recommend Dr. Gruber due to him not being up front about the risks we were facing and making light of something that was more in our control than he would have us believe.

He operated a basic procedure (appendectomy) on my wife stating it was an emergency and it needed to be done (okay fine). We then get a bill from Dr Kota for $27,500. Yes, nearly $30k for a 45 minute COMMON procedure. Dr Kota apparently doesn't accept BCBS so is an "out of network" provider. I called BCBS and explained the situation and they adjusted our claim to cover the "In-network" amount so that we wouldn't have to pay out the ass. Dr Kota took payment of $1500 (the amount that the insurance company pays its providers for that COMMON procedure) but Dr Kota isn't happy with that, he is still coming after us for another $26,046. This has been going on for 2 years and has been reviewed and escalated 3 times with the insurance company, State of NY and now State of Utah (because that's where the insurance company is based out of). Needless to say, I am getting balance billed an outrageous amount from Dr Kota because he is choosing not to accept the amount that BCBS pays its providers. Now we are being threatened with collections. Ultimately he may lead me to bankruptcy, because sorry Dr Kota, I'm not a surgeon like you - I don't have that kind of money.

She explained what likely happened, along with an explanation of what the process would be, and treatment overall. The retreat treatment went extremely well and hoping the rest of my week has as minimal pain as possible (not anyone's fault except having work done)!
