My family only uses this PT facility. Why? It is superb. The organization, the flexibility and the therapists are top-notch. Most recently I completed a number of PT sessions with Maragarey Coopes-Meske, aka 'Claire'. She was professional, efficient, knowlegeable and most importantly, helpful. My pain and range of motion are better because of her intervention. I highly recommemd this facility amd Ms. Coopes-Meske in particular. read more

I will never use PT or any RWJ outpatient service again. They cheat on their bills. My insurance covers me 100% for outpatient PT. RWJ cheated and billed Medicare under Part A which is for IN HOSPITAL service. That's a lie. Also, there is no human being you can talk to with billing questions. A robot handles everything. The robot ignored every call I made, every email I sent. The robot calls me. The robot texts me. The robot sent my accounts to a collection agency. The only human beings who answer calls are clerks who can only tell you how much RWJ says you owe, and ask how do you want to pay for it. I am thoroughly disgusted. RWJ is forcing me to pay for something that is fully covered by my insurance! If they had billed it properly they would have been paid immediately. I've used private PT providers and NEVER had this problem, ever! There is nothing caring, compassionate, or human about RWJ administration. It's set on auto-pilot and all the overpaid execs are out on the golf course. read more

I rarely complain and write reviews of businesses online. If I do not like the service - I just take my money elsewhere, but these guys just irked me to the point that I had to write this. Sports Physical Therapy Institute in Princeton takes my personal prize for the worst service and care that I have received from the members of the healthcare profession (If they could be called that). From the first glance - the place looks big, expensive and if not professional, then at least corporate and legitimate. Don't be fooled by the first impressions. The physical therapists that work there are poorly trained and totally not motivated to work. They show complete lack of care of the patients. They will not spend more than 15 minutes with you doing things that will actually help you, but will bill you for the whole hour. They will stand around and yap with each other, while you are doing stretches that you could have done at home (completely ignoring you), making faces behind your back while you are in pain and other unprofessional, childish and outrageous things that should not be part of any facility that provides healthcare services to PEOPLE.They WILL bill your insurance for an hour of actual work though, so that is one part that you can expect to be done accurately and on time. And the worst part is.... The Physical Therapists themselves are the BEST part of this institution. The fronkdesk staff is just complete crooks. They are rude, obnaxious and act like they are doing you a favor by taking your money from you. They make you feel like the fact that they even give you a time of their day is a complete honor and privillage. They have taken my cash for co-pay and then claimed they never received it. After I cancelled my appointments 1 month in advance, they charged me for "no show" and then tried to collect money from Collection Agency. Ladies and Gentlemen, I know it is hard to find a good Physical Therapy office that will actually care for their patients, but I would advise everyone who cares for his or her health to stay away from this place. I have to admit that I did do my due diligence and had researched the physical therapy facility I would be going to... As such, I DID consider the negative reviews on this site and thought that even if it is true may be MY experience might be different. Please DO NOT do the same mistake-- it is not worth it -- your health is NOT worth it. The front desk including the office manager do not have a clue and will do everything to make your life miserable right from the first appointment until your last appointment (which is because you have given up...). To begin, they will always tell you that the times you need an appointment are not available even if you are requesting it weeks ahead. They are very unprofessional and have numerous rules which are more like military regiment and do not serve any purpose. I had one cancellation due to my daughter's emergency and they ended up charging me a cancellation fee. On the other hand, they cancelled one of my appointments on me because the therapist had to leave early and was not offered another one during the same week. They give you contradicting instructions such as "please come 15 mins early for your appointment" and when you get there, they say " you are early, please have a seat, the therapist cannot see you until the appointment time" At a medical facility, the patient and his treatment must be the number one goal and this message seems to be lost on them Do yourselves a favor and run -- in the opposite direction. My experience was almost a year ago but when another acquaintance of me mine narrated the same experience, I was compelled to write about it. I have been seeing Lindsay for physical therapy here for 4 months. She and the rest of the staff have never been anything but professional, efficient, and good natured. I have had no problems with making or rescheduling appointments, they have worked with my insurance and primary care physician (located in New York City) with no problems whatsoever and, most importantly, I have never been made to feel self-conscious about the fact that, unlike many of their patients, I am not a serious athlete. I would recommend them to anyone. read more

I have to wonder if the other reviewers went to the same Somerset Physical Therapy Institute as I did. The physical therapy that I received was beyond top notch, professional, and respectful. Not to mention the great results that my therapist achieved on my abused body. To start with, my appointments were scheduled by my therapist. We mutually agreed on a schedule that accommodated both of our needs. A thoughtful, respectful process. My therapist spent every session with intense hands-on therapy. She explained everything she was doing in a way that did not belittle my anatomical ignorance, but that allowed my to understand the value of every treatment. She gave me exercises to do at home so that the progress made in visits could be extended. She explained how to correctly perform each exercise so that I wouldn't injure myself. She was patient and very respectful in this education. Eventually this individually tailored approach enabled me to take on more activities in the gym portion of the facility. In the gym I again encountered a very professional, highly educatied, and cheerful staff. My therapist initially introduced me to each piece of equipment and the exercise to be performed there. Then the gym staff assisted in those exercises whenever I had questions or confusions. This process demystified equipment that can be intimidating to the novice. I found the two-tiered staffing to be deeply reassuring and helpful. They made certain that I exercised correctly so that I would heal, and not reinjure myself. Finally, my insurance coverage ran out, but Somerset has this fabulous arrangement for former patients. You pay a nominal monthly fee and you can use the gym as much as you want. I greatly appreciated being able to continue my rehabilitation under the kind and knowledgable eyes of my (former) therapist and the gym staff. I knew they were there for me, supporting all of my activities. Unfortunately Somerset changed their billing process so that my insurance no longer pays for me to go there. I was crushed to learn that. I am desperate to return as I have unfortunately experienced another injury. I have spent 6 months trying to find another facility as good as Somerset. read more

I have NEVER written a review online, but after reading the bad review, I felt compelled to do so. I have always been treated with kindness, courtesy, and professionalism by everyone at Sports Physical Therapy, from the front desk to the assistants to the therapists. My therapist, Marc Nowak, has helped me immensely, and while there are exercises I do myself, Marc's attention is 100% focused on me when we are working together. Marc also noticed that I had some deficits (I am a stroke survivor) that Physical Therapy was not equipped to handle. He went out of his way to contact my neurologist and made sure I was referred to the appropriate cognitive therapy rehabilitation center. The front desk staff has been nothing but pleasant and accommodating to me. When I had to cancel last-minute due to a flat tire on the way to my appointment, they did not bill me for the missed appointment. I would highly recommend this business to anyone, especially therapist Marc Nowak. read more

I gone to SPI twice in the last year, both times for bike related injuries. The first time was last year when I experienced sudden onset of lower back pain during the weekend after completing my first century bike ride. I got an emergency appointment for Monday morning. I went in to the appointment in so much pain, and left after one hour with a significant improvement, exercises to work on at home, and a series of follow-up appointments to move me from just pain relief to strengthening my lower back to reduce the likelihood of a repeat injury. The second series of visits happened more recently when I finally decided to deal with a long standing shoulder issue that is aggravated by office work and bike riding. This was not an emergency situation but I was able to get a series of appointments easily scheduled, mostly with the same therapist, but occasionally with someone else depending on availability. The therapist took me through a series of exercises to strengthen the affected area and set me up so that I can work on them independently at my own gym in order to maintain the improvements that I have made to my shoulder. In both cases the therapists and aides were helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. I have recommended them to others - and while I hope not to need them for quite some time, should the need arise I will not hesitate to go back. read more

I don't know about the quality of care... we only got the initial exam. The big problem is this is now owned by Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. So it is now considered outpatient care. Which means it is part of most insurance deductibles, not a standard therapy visit. So instead of just costing me $40 per visit like my normal physical therapy office visit would cost, now I have to pay the first $1000 (or whatever your deductible would be) out of pocket AND once that's done, 20% of their high rates - which means $55 per visit. And if you're near the end of the year like I was, I would be paying the deductible twice, because it resets. Their regular visits are almost $400 for an evaluation and nearly $300 for a regular visit... so I would reach the deductible VERY quickly. AND BY THE WAY - for the pleasure of paying more, we were assigned a therapist who, after questioning, I found out this was his first gig out of school, and he was on the job only a few months. So I get to pay much higher rates for less experience and knowledge. Makes no sense to me. On the plus side, their range of exercise equipment for rehab does look VERY impressive compared to other PT offices I have seen. The staff was very friendly and helpful. But none of this justifies the price I would have to pay because of the insurance situation. read more

This is the second time I have used Sports Physical Therapy and I have never encountered any of the difficulties of the previous reviewer. The two therapists, Lindsey and Bill, who have been assigned to me have given me all the attention I could possibly need. The office staff has been helpful and I have not been charged for the one occasion that I had to cancel. This is a very hands-on place and I am totally satisfied with it. read more
