I was attending a 40th Wedding Anniversary which was Black Tie. My personal tux no longer fit me as I had lost weight and it was too large. Im a mom of an adult son who recently moved to Boston. He was invited to his friends Black Tie wedding which fell on a Saturday. He didnt actually read the invitation until 4 days before the wedding in which he discovered the requested dress attire. On the day before the wedding he nonchalantly said he should have no problem renting a Tuxedo. Well, no matter how old my kids are my Mom mode kicks in automatically! After a couple heated discussions with my son he decided to go to a rental place in his new neighbor to get a Tux for the next day! so thats all it took and I tried to control the situation and take things into my own hands. I googled Tuxedo rentals in my area and I came across Roberts Tuxedos, after reading the reviews I thought this guy might help me. i raced over to the store and I was warmly greeted by Robert. He patiently listened to my story and said not a problem, I can help you. I was like, what? you can? To make a long story short (lol) my son called me while I was speaking with Robert and he said, Mom I appreciate you wanting to help but this is my problem and Ill handle it. I felt embarrassed in front if Robert and at the same time incredibly proud of my son. we did not use Roberts Tuxedo for this event but i guarantee you my family will use them for all future events! We went here and the guy put his hand up in my face and told be to be quiet while i was talking to my son on what color he wanted. I then told him I dont like the way you just spoke to me. That im the parent and paying customer. He then said something under his breath as he walked away and went into the back without regard on helping us or caring that my son needed a tux. He pretty much refused to help us. I said good walk away, we will go somewhere else and im putting it on Facebook and telling the school. We did nothing wrong but he had a issue with my black son and his black father who was on FaceTime during this whole incident. Racism is very real. I've got in touch with Black Lives Matter in regard to this place.  Its a shame my son had to go through this. So we went across the street to Men's Warehouse where we were treated like gold! Passaic Valley HS should not refer students and parents to Roberts Tuxs. I've contacted a reporter from Herald News. This is how serious the situation was. As someone who is part of the lgbt community and getting to wear what I feel comfortable in, I was super excited to get my first tux fitting for my brothers wedding. I will say it was a horrible first experience. These guys do not tailor to women at all. For the price of a rented tux it was complete shit. They did not fit it to my body at all. They took measurements and made sure the length was good and all and even that wasn't accurate. When I went to pick up the suit the pants are still too long and the blazer sleeves too. They gave me suspenders to fix the pants problem and fixed the blazer right then and there . I will say it was nice to have them fix something right in the spot so I didn't have to come back again but the just giving me suspenders to fix the length of the pants was annoying cause I just felt like the pants were riding up the whole time. The only thing that fit perfect was the shirt but the pants vets and blazer just didn't look good. I asked if they could pinch the blazer to make it not look so boxy and they couldn't. Being that we are in 2022 it would be nice to go somewhere and get a tux tailored to my body and not just get "oh well you're not a man so it wouldn't look the same " or just other comments. Obviously I'm not a man but I do feel comfortable in mens clothing more than womens. But whatever just know if you're a woman and wanting to get a nice fitted tux. I've rented from Robert's once before and was blown away by the experience. I dealt with the Owner Robert directly and he could not have been more knowledgeable or professional. He took the time to fit me perfectly, giving me a truly custom tailored fit look in a rental. I was most impressed by the fact that he was making all of these adjustments himself. He was such a pleasure to work with that when it came time to select tuxes for my own wedding I didn't need to look elsewhere. As you can see in the photos, his work speaks for itself. My Groomsmen, and I all looked great. Robert and his staff really went above and beyond for us, but it would seem this is just how they do business. 5 of my groomsmen were from out of town and they sent in their measurements by email. Robert himself took the time to call each one to confirm the sizes and ask some follow up questions about body type and fit so that he would be ready to size them properly the day before the wedding. All 9 of us showed up Thursday afternoon. Robert and his staff, had each of us individually fitted and adjusted to look perfect. Robert himself took the time to inspect each of us to make sure the fit was just right. He even than packed all of our suit bags himself to ensure we had everything we needed before leaving. Most impressively they were able to do all of this in just over an hour. The professionalism and efficiency could not be more appreciated the day before a wedding. By far the best service and Tuxedos in the area. We had checked out a few places including Mens Warehouse. This place made all the others look horrible. I wouldn't rent from anybody else period. They took care of out town groomsmen and did final fitting the day before the wedding. We left for our honeymoon right after the Wedding and my son did not return my Tux for 7 days. I've been dealing with them for awhile because of having to return tuxes my fiancé has rented from being in other wedding parties and Rob Jr. has always been very friendly and so easy going. Rob helped me choose the perfect tux for my vision and introduced me to all the fits (I really had no idea there were so many choices!) it was so nice to have such great service. Rob even showed me what each fit looks like on and let me choose the perfect color for the ties (I had a certain specific color I wanted and Rob was able to order the color for me.) My family has been renting formal wear from Robert's since 2005, and I am a very happy customer. Rob's customer service is excellent, and there's something special about this mom and pop store. Rob Sr. started the store over 30 years ago, and Rob Jr. is the face of the business. Last week, I needed a gold colored vest, and I drove all the way to Totowa (over an hour away) to rent it from Rob. They were open during the Easter holiday weekend (open on Friday and Saturday, closed on Easter Sunday). I was able to find the exact vest and matching bowtie, which Rob ironed and readied to be worn the same day, and he had me out of there within a half hour. Here's the best part of the story: When I returned the vest on Monday, I forgot to bring my bowtie. Since I live so far away, I asked him how much I would have to pay if I couldn't get it back until next weekend. I've been married for 27 years and my Tux was rented from Robert's Tuxedos. My daughter was married this year on June 21st and while I own a Tux, I still needed to rent a shirt and shoes. My first stop was Robert's because of the great service I received 27 years ago. My wife is a bargin shopper and of course wanted to visit a few more places before we rented, so I went along. We visited two other establishments and I told my wife I refuse to go any furher. Robert's priciing was comparable to the market and the two toned patend leather shoes couldnt' be found at the other two places... they had the triditional black rounded toe. We circled back around to Robert's after two stops and I rented a shirt and shoes for the event. While not trying to outshine anyone from the wedding partiy I did receive a few copliments on the shoes because of the destinct pattern in the leather. I returned the items the following Monday and recieved the same hassle free service I did when I rented the items. Poor service, low quality product and overpriced! We were told by Robert (the owner) that it would take WAY too long for one of my Groomsmen to try on the entire tux; we should simply put on a jacket and get an idea of what the guys would look like. When I reminded him we would be renting 12 tuxedos, he informed me that we were lucky to see the jacket, had we gone to "the mall", we would simply be offered a catalog to look at. Not sure what store he was referring to by "the mall", but we left his store and went to Dante's in Verona where we all tried on various tuxedos before choosing one that looked just right.
