SouthStar Bank, Bremond - Deanna Ford, AVP/Branch Manager

To the Executive and Administrative Staff of Southstar Bank,…read more On the evening of 6/21/24 which was on a Friday, at approximately 5:30 pm, my son Eric attempted to draft some financials using his debit card from his account at the Bremond Southstar account. This occurred in Cypress, Tx. for a deposit needed for his apartment. Eric was denied multiple times due to the larger amount needed. The bank-- having fraud protection for sizable amounts withdrawn without notification, locked him from his account. His attempts went well past the closing time of the bank and the apartment complex. For over an hour we were parked outside of the complex with a 24' horse trailer on the side of a busy road. Eric and my wife decided to resolve this crisis by reaching out to Deanna who works at the Southstar Bank in Bremond. Not only did she answer her personal cell phone well past her Friday closing time, (it was now 6:35 pm), but she responded to Eric's needs and facilitated the transfer with her capacity to override the amount allowed under normal circumstances, using the debit card. With her assistance, Eric was able to complete his lease paperwork and move into his apartment that evening. Now-- I bet some of you are thinking to yourselves this was great and you are glad to have someone like Deanna as part of your staff... Let me share this with you guys--what I feel you should be thinking: What Deanna did for Eric and us that evening was not just tremendous, it was exceptional!!! Deanna did not deny Eric's call after hours. Deanna did not tell Eric she wished she could have helped him earlier make these arrangements when the bank was open. What Deanna did was--make an unselfish sacrifice to someone who was desperate at a very unfortunate time. This is the reason I am taking time to recognize her. I have witnessed some pretty incredible deeds in my professional career. This gracious deed Deanna assisted my son with ranks in the top five of selfless acts I have witnessed in my life. Another testament to Deanna's integrity is this. Per the request of my son he asked his Mom to bake Deanna a cake for his appreciation. After delivery of the cake to the bank for Deanna, we discover another selfless act from her. She shared her cake with her co-workers. She could have taken it home. The cake was made for her... What more can I say regarding Deanna?? In closing I will say this... If your banking institutions at every location around the state of Texas have the "Deanna" we have in Bremond, Tx., customer satisfaction will be exceptional. If that "Deanna" does not exist everywhere, I suggest you find "Deanna" and incorporate her into the operation. These type of individuals elevate the standards of your institution because of their sacrifices. They are the "role models" of successful business. I congratulate you as a company having one person such as Deanna to conduct our business with as we do here in the Bremond Southstar Bank. Respectfully, Dennis W.

Do your self a favor, bank else where…read more We attempted to get a simple notary performed here. We needed something signed so that we could sell our home the next day. (Closing was Friday, we attempted to use this banks Notary Thursday). After asking if my wife was a member, the banker informed her that they do not help "non members" and handed her two sheets of paper. One was a list of "benefits" for joining the CU. The other contained a phone number that we could call for a local notary. It was a Rockdale "notary" phone line I guess. Guess who the person on the phone recommended that we try in Rockdale? This Credit Union ! LOL Any how, after an hour and a half of trying random businesses in Rockdale. We finally found a notary, we went on to sell our home, and deposited the proceeds at a different bank. (we are new in town) Not only did they treat us right, our account was free! Do you think this credit union would have treated us the same if we had informed them of the thousands of dollars we were about to have in cash?

Deposits and payment processing are very slow, even compared to other credit unions. They have a limited online banking system. They are not the worst in the world and do not seem to be predatory, but banks are usually overly positive to try to sell you on something and this place is the exact opposite. The customer service is severely lacking.
