Food was delicious- hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, fresh fish. The lake reminds me of Lake Lanier just a lot larger . The "beach" area is nice - plenty of picnic tables, docks, pravillions , and parking. The only thing missing is "white sand" This lake is roughly 1.5 hrs from Atlanta. If you're looking for "beach" vibes , this is a good place. Tybee Island is 3hrs away and Lake Lanier 2hrs.

She listened to what i told her about the incident, and then said she had already been told by the person at the Campground what happened. Basically she said that it was policy and there were no exceptions, and explained people can cheat the system. Seems it would be hard to beat the system when you produced the card. It seems that if the card was not produced within a courtesy period then you have a problem, but it is extremely plain CUSTOMER SERIVCE or just Plain Common sense is not in their policy. They obviously consider it is a privilege you pay for to stay at the camp and that you will be monitored to make sure you obey the rules, better brush up and take a test or face the consequences. Anyway it was obvious Susan had already made up her mind before I ever called and she was 100% behind her Camp Nazi. She also told me they contacted her and she directed them to call the Sheriff. Wow, I am still in disbelief of what happened, but upon reflection it is just another government office with people that have no risk of consequence for their actions. Customer Service and Common Sense with. These people is an Oxymoron anyway. So Campers Beware the people that run Holiday could care less about the campers. We have been staying at Holiday for several years. We love the lake and the views and it is close enough we can bring our boat along. My wife pulls the boat and I pull the trailer. This time my wife was about 30 minutes behind me dropping off our dogs. It all started at the gate. I was informed even though we had paid way in advance and I had my drivers license I had to have the Georgia State Parks card to show. Nowhere in the website does it mention it has to be presented at checkin. You use it when you make your reservation online which we did. The card is registered to me. It's not like we used another name. I showed her my License and explained my wife was just a few minutes behind me. Well that was not good enough, she wanted me to pull over and wait until my wife got there that's a little petty don't you think. Anyway I had been driving for a good while and needed to go to the bathroom. I pulled to the bathhouse and when I came out I called my wife she was like just a few minutes away. So I went to our lot and pulled in. I had not even got totally unhooked when my wife called and said the woman had called the Troup County Sheriff on us, now 2 patrol cars pull up with the woman in tow after my wife just showed them the card, but that was not good enough we were told we broke the rules. The man at the window closed it on my wife, what an ass. Keep in mind only 30 or 40 minutes have gone by. I was floored that they called the sheriff with 2 patrol cars, i must be a 63 year old hoodlum. Needless to say I was livid and gave her a piece of my mind. The officers you could tell thought it was BS. We spoke after the Campground Nazi left and they could not understand why it was such a big deal. We had friends that came down with thier camper that we had planned this trip with. My friend witnessed the whole thing and could not believe the absurdity of it. Needless to say my wife was extremely upset with the rudeness it's like they enjoy some kind of sick power trip. Needless to say this ruined our trip and we just left. Reading past reviews it seems the only issues people have is with staff. One last thing we have been camping for many years and campers are the best people ever. This is the only campground we have ever had issue with that caused us to be upset. In fact we had a run in with I believe this same woman on a trip a couple of years ago. Anyway I am going to be calling the office tomorrow to file a complaint.

The sites are spacious and the lake side very level. In the trees they do get out of level due to roots. The sites are also very clean and maintained. This place obviously has the lake but also a mini golf and archery range. There is a separate spot to camp with horses so I'm assuming trails to ride. WiFi seemed better than most parks but we use Starlink due to the normal lack luster WiFi at tv parks. There is also a store that seems pretty well stocked. The campground is tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Mauk, Georgia, and has such a charming, relaxing atmosphere. They offer a little bit of everything--primitive campsites, adorable yurts, RV sites, and more comfortable campsites like the one we stayed in. We stayed at Site 3, which had a nice view of the main house and one of the horses. If you're looking for the best sunset views, I'd recommend requesting Site 4. It has a platform overlooking the small farm and is the perfect spot to enjoy the evening. One thing people should know is that there is a train nearby, and you'll hear it every 15-30 minutes or so. Unless you're an extremely light sleeper who needs complete silence, I don't think it's an issue. It certainly didn't take away from our experience. The bathhouse was clean, cute, and had hot showers. My only suggestion for improvement would be the motion-sensor lights--they turn off pretty quickly, so you'll find yourself waving your arms while you're in the shower or even sitting in the restroom to keep the lights on. There's also a small camp store, which is a nice bonus. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. and left around 10:00 the next morning, so we didn't have a chance to explore everything, but our stay was peaceful, quiet, and very enjoyable. Thank you to the owners for creating such a welcoming little campground. We truly appreciated the hospitality and loved starting our adventure here. I would definitely recommend Piney Hills Campground and would happily stay here again.

Mr. & Mrs. Hatcher were friendly and genuinely concerned for our safety, making us feel right at home. This was definitely one of the nicest campgrounds we've been to, with all the hookups. Though we didn't, you can actually look through all the campsite photos on their website before choosing which one you want, which is awesome. They don't sell firewood, but Mr. Hatcher said we were welcome to pick up dead branches we found, which some places don't allow, and there was plenty of wood! We do have an axe, which was very helpful. Bluff Creek Campground is the perfect inexpensive place to stay and we wish we'd stayed longer!

This is a military Recreation Center run by Maxwell Air Force Base for active duty and retired…read moremilitary. No one ever asked to see my ID card though, so maybe they are flexible on that. There is plenty to do here including walking and fishing. They have a wide selection of boats available to rent. They have a very nice beach with a large picnic area. They have trailers to rent for 40 to $60, depending on the trailer and your rank. They have several areas for RVs with full hookups, and they have one camping area for tents. The camping area isn't usually very crowded, so there is a good chance you will have it to yourself. One of the campsites is 15 feet from the water. The staff here is very friendly and helpful. There is a raccoon that frequents the campground, so be careful what you do with your food when you go to bed for the night.

We came in the perfect time, while all the fall colors are putting on their best show. This park/ campground sits right along a huge lake, and the views are pretty incredible. It does cost a small bit to be able to enter the park, but there is plenty of places to stop and park and hang out once you get in. We only stayed for part of a day but you are able to fully camp there with plenty of amenities provided. Definitely a hidden place off the road, and West Point is not typically a town you accidentally pass through, but if you're ever in the area I'd highly recommend spending some time in nature with a visit here! It's sure to boost your mood!

We then proceeded to the end of the road and parked at the lot next to the river. We did the hike along the river. The trail map says it is over 5 miles, but we just wanted to do around 3 total. We passed a couple of markers for 0.5 and 1 miles and hoped to find the 1.5 mile marker as our turn-around spot, but we never saw it. I suspect we were approaching 2 miles when we turned around. The trail was pretty, especially with the fall leaves. We only encountered maybe 4 other hiking groups during our walk. If you are in the area, this is a pleasant area for hiking.

Had a great November day hiking the Riverside Trail end-to-end-to-end (11 miles). Met only 2…read morehikers the whole time. Saw squirrels, armadillos, and white-tail deer. With all of the freshly-fallen leaves, at times the trail was discernable only by rectangular markers on trees. In a few places there were ribbons tied around trees in a way that would lead you off the trail if you followed them. I had fun imagining that the Blair Witch put them there.
