Parking is non issue. Theres a cute park along the way, artwork... even zip lining. I loved watching the kayaks in the water. Alan Jackson I remember when Alan released this song in '93 and (having never visited the South to that point) I wondered if he invented some magical river called the "Chattahoochee" because it made for such a catchy guide vocal. Now that we've seen some of what Alan was singing about while on the "Chattahoochee River Walk" in Columbus, Georgia, it makes me wonder if the lyrics to his song could actually be semi-autobiographical. ‍ This trail runs parallel to the river and offers a consistent connection to it during your adventure. Walkers, runners, cyclists, and leashed dogs are all welcome here and from a safety standpoint I'd assign it a perfect score during daylight hours. Those with mobility challenges should not be dissuaded from enjoying it because it is well maintained, mostly flat, and easily accommodates wheelchairs, baby strollers, etc. While I typically elect to run most of the trails that we review, I quite enjoyed causally meandering along this one. My boyfriend booked us a trip on Saturday, it was both our first time and Jackson was an absolute champ. He was so knowledgeable about the river, its history (very rich history here), and we had such a fun experience doing the classic trip. He made sure we were suited up right, checked on us, we felt safe the entire time. We've definitely unlocked a new hobby! The day was super nice, we even got to surf and float down part of the lazy river. Jackson also literally carried our group- he was very mindful of us and made sure we were safe and not over-exert as well. Will 100% be back for the challenger trip next time when I come to visit :) also zip-lining! Whitewater Express also has a lot of equipment at their store- so check it out before and after your excursion! Definitely very useful and practical (like water shoes, chacos, sunglasses, fishing gear, and a lot of outdoor gear), in addition to great merch.

We've been getting out on it for our double digit runs. It's exudes peace, calm, tranquil, and serene vibes. It's paved, clean, safe, well lit and although not crowded you aren't often far from your next walker, runner, cyclist, four legged friend or stroller. It's the perfect place to get in uninterrupted mileage with stunning views of the river as it flows from rapids to a glistening still. There's plenty of shaded areas as well as exposed. It feels like a very gradual train to the terrain as its essentially flat but has a few bumps here and there to keep the legs feeling their best. If an active lifestyle isn't your thing, it's the perfect place to take in a picnic, enjoy stillness, meditate or read your fav book from start to finish. There are miles and miles of the perfect mixture of fresh air, sunshine, shade and quietness. We run it from the Lake Oliver trail head start (out 5-6miles then turn back for an easy 10-12) but I can easily see doubling down on it if you are looking to get in 20+ miles while still being right beside the city. On and over the water you can go white water rafting, zip line from GA to AL, fly fish, take in a INF World Canoe Championships and more! The Dragonfly has been a symbol of happiness, new beginnings and change for many centuries. The Dragonfly means hope, change, and love. I'd say this trail is perfectly named. Enjoy!

Phenix City, Alabama is just across the river from Columbus, Georgia and overall, Phenix City is a…read morepretty cool place. Not only is Phenix City one of the most eastern part of Alabama, it is also one of the most eastern parts that is in the Central Time Zone. The Riverwalk on this side of the river is a bit more laid back, but I enjoy here as much as I enjoy the Columbus side. All in all, Phenix City is a pretty cool place.
