This camp was nice and clean when we stayed here 13 years ago, during family day, when my husband was at FT. Benning for boot camp. Fast forward to now, this place is disgusting. From the smell, to the mold, to being absolutely run down. It is NOT suitable for people to stay in. The pictures speak for themselves. Save yourself the headache and do NOT stay here.

Great staff. Friendly hosts. No issues at a while staying here for 4 months! Propane on site which is always handy. The deer are so friendly that they will Come right on up to your site.

Absolutely love this place! We were here for our son's Turning Green Ceremony. We stayed in the Executive Chalet. Definitely worth it. Nice relaxing family weekend. Very peaceful and nice view of the Chattahoochee River. Anytime we have to come to Fort Benning, this is definitely where we will be staying

Inside small cabin. Sofa is not a sleeper.

Quiet, quaint, and well-kept grounds. Cabins need a thorough deep cleaning. Very comfortable bed. Bring your own pillows though! A great choice for families PCSing. WiFi is essentially non-existent inside or outside the cabin. However, the signal is stronger near the larger chalets and the event center. Easy access to main post.

    Classic chalet bedroom #1

This might get long so bear with me. We rented a classic chalet. So I will first explain what comes in it. You have 2 bedrooms with 1 full size bed in each, no dressers just closets. There is a loft with 2 full size beds and a futon couch. 1 full size bathroom, with only a standing shower. The living room has a couch and love seat and 1 TV (only TV) and a full kitchen with plenty of cabinet space, full fridge and stove/oven. No dishwasher. In the kitchen they supply you with an 8 set dishware and almost an 8 set flatware. You have a colander, mixing bowl, pitcher, and some servingware. 1 or 2 pots and 1 frying pan. No bakeware. No kitchen shears. You cannot see the Uchee Creek from the chalets unlike what the site says. All pictures you see on the site of the creek and dock were taken in the 90s before the dock washed away. So no dock. The country store is extremely limited in items for purchase and the attitude of the employees is so-so. It closes at 5pmEST on the dot. Renting boats. Pontoon is $80 for 2 hours. Fishing boat is $40 for 2 hours. No renting boats after 5pm EST. If it rains the creek floods and you cannot rent a boat. There is plenty of ponds on the main post for fishing. The wi-fi is open and unsecured but works. AT&T service is spotty. Remember you are not staying at a resort so upon check out you need to wash, dry and put away all dishes and sweep the floors. For the price you can't really beat it. Remember you are on federal property. It's quiet. We did not use any of the laundry mats on the camp ground. The grills and fire pits are in good conditions. If you wanna do s'mores by the fire pit make a trip to the commissary to buy all the supplies (country store has firewood $5 a bag which is enough for a good fire. Food recommendation: the BBQ House, about 5 miles away is If I think of anything else I will update.

Great campground. Bring everything you are going to need, country store is very limited. Great marina if you have a boat. Not all sites are wooded.

Perfect recreation area for military friends and families. Peaceful and mostly fun when camping in a tent! If you're going to camp in a cabin you ain't doing it right. You're suppose to be outdoors getting in touch with the wildlife. Also, great for fishing and swimming at the pool. Staff is friendly and welcoming and very attentive.

    Amazing! Had so much fun!

Though they advertise as a place that offers month to month business, my husband and I were offering them a guaranteed month to month business for a good bit of time while working in the area, however long they would work with us on, bouncing to another place if we exceeded their desired amount of time, and both people we spoke with - a woman one day and a man named Justin another, were very rude and "uppity/snooty". We have a 2023 Primetime Sanibel Widebody 5th wheel, 43 feet in length, very nice condition, and are two professional people (my husband an Operations Manager for a billboard company and I a Bid/Dept Manager for a Food Distributor, with a combined income of over $175k per year) and their response was "we wouldn't be a good fit" after we spoke with them guaranteeing we would abide by their strict rules. When we mentioned we may once in a blue moon babysit our grandkids while there, before I even finished my sentence, we were given a very terse response which was a strong indicator they do not want kids there. Obviously not family friendly. They mentioned not wanting "trashy trailers" and "trailer trash" type people in their campground - of which we aren't, but wow, the judgement - and that they currently have some campers they are "trying to be rid of", so camp with ease or expect to be thrown out. They want only new campers there, and royalty. I guess if you take a stab at them you'll have to see if you meet their high standards or contrarily meet their definition of "trailer trash". Beware, if your camper, though well maintianed yet only a 2021 model, you're trailer trash. Again, very picky, very high standards, strict rules, unbending, uppity, and just rude with a "holier than though" attitude. Apparently not very interested in keeping their business running either. We drove through the park on 4/20/26 and over half their campsites were empty. I wonder why. Yet, they turn down guaranteed month to month business for a time we were willing to allow them to designate. We will gladly take our business elsewhere to a much friendlier staff at a nicer, more secure campground nearby we have recently learned of - where we won't have to listen to trains pass behind us all day, and can watch kids be kids and play. Sad thing is, we've given them our business before while in Columbus, but never will again, and will tell all we know of a large group of campers we are affiliated with of their rude, snooty ways. Traveling through the area? I'd recommend staying elsewhere. Corps of Engineer parks on nearby West Point Lake (Amity, Shaefer Hard, Holiday, and WhiteTail Ridge), a campground on nearby Lake Harding (Blanton Creek), two near Fort Benning (one GA side - Camp David, the other AL side), one in Fort Benning (Uchee Creek), a KOA in nearby Americus, Ga and Auburn RV Resort in nearby Auburn, AL to name just a few. That is, unless you like to hobknob with the snooty folk.

We only stayed one night,…read morebut it was exactly what we needed, and I would absolutely stay here again if I'm ever back in the area. The campground is tucked away in the peaceful countryside of Mauk, Georgia, and has such a charming, relaxing atmosphere. They offer a little bit of everything--primitive campsites, adorable yurts, RV sites, and more comfortable campsites like the one we stayed in. We stayed at Site 3, which had a nice view of the main house and one of the horses. If you're looking for the best sunset views, I'd recommend requesting Site 4. It has a platform overlooking the small farm and is the perfect spot to enjoy the evening. One thing people should know is that there is a train nearby, and you'll hear it every 15-30 minutes or so. Unless you're an extremely light sleeper who needs complete silence, I don't think it's an issue. It certainly didn't take away from our experience. The bathhouse was clean, cute, and had hot showers. My only suggestion for improvement would be the motion-sensor lights--they turn off pretty quickly, so you'll find yourself waving your arms while you're in the shower or even sitting in the restroom to keep the lights on. There's also a small camp store, which is a nice bonus. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. and left around 10:00 the next morning, so we didn't have a chance to explore everything, but our stay was peaceful, quiet, and very enjoyable. Thank you to the owners for creating such a welcoming little campground. We truly appreciated the hospitality and loved starting our adventure here. I would definitely recommend Piney Hills Campground and would happily stay here again.

*****UPDATE***** I called the Corp office this morning and…read morespoke with Susan whom I was told was the administrator for Holiday Campground. She listened to what i told her about the incident, and then said she had already been told by the person at the Campground what happened. Basically she said that it was policy and there were no exceptions, and explained people can cheat the system. Seems it would be hard to beat the system when you produced the card. It seems that if the card was not produced within a courtesy period then you have a problem, but it is extremely plain CUSTOMER SERIVCE or just Plain Common sense is not in their policy. They obviously consider it is a privilege you pay for to stay at the camp and that you will be monitored to make sure you obey the rules, better brush up and take a test or face the consequences. Anyway it was obvious Susan had already made up her mind before I ever called and she was 100% behind her Camp Nazi. She also told me they contacted her and she directed them to call the Sheriff. Wow, I am still in disbelief of what happened, but upon reflection it is just another government office with people that have no risk of consequence for their actions. Customer Service and Common Sense with. These people is an Oxymoron anyway. So Campers Beware the people that run Holiday could care less about the campers. We have been staying at Holiday for several years. We love the lake and the views and it is close enough we can bring our boat along. My wife pulls the boat and I pull the trailer. This time my wife was about 30 minutes behind me dropping off our dogs. It all started at the gate. I was informed even though we had paid way in advance and I had my drivers license I had to have the Georgia State Parks card to show. Nowhere in the website does it mention it has to be presented at checkin. You use it when you make your reservation online which we did. The card is registered to me. It's not like we used another name. I showed her my License and explained my wife was just a few minutes behind me. Well that was not good enough, she wanted me to pull over and wait until my wife got there that's a little petty don't you think. Anyway I had been driving for a good while and needed to go to the bathroom. I pulled to the bathhouse and when I came out I called my wife she was like just a few minutes away. So I went to our lot and pulled in. I had not even got totally unhooked when my wife called and said the woman had called the Troup County Sheriff on us, now 2 patrol cars pull up with the woman in tow after my wife just showed them the card, but that was not good enough we were told we broke the rules. The man at the window closed it on my wife, what an ass. Keep in mind only 30 or 40 minutes have gone by. I was floored that they called the sheriff with 2 patrol cars, i must be a 63 year old hoodlum. Needless to say I was livid and gave her a piece of my mind. The officers you could tell thought it was BS. We spoke after the Campground Nazi left and they could not understand why it was such a big deal. We had friends that came down with thier camper that we had planned this trip with. My friend witnessed the whole thing and could not believe the absurdity of it. Needless to say my wife was extremely upset with the rudeness it's like they enjoy some kind of sick power trip. Needless to say this ruined our trip and we just left. Reading past reviews it seems the only issues people have is with staff. One last thing we have been camping for many years and campers are the best people ever. This is the only campground we have ever had issue with that caused us to be upset. In fact we had a run in with I believe this same woman on a trip a couple of years ago. Anyway I am going to be calling the office tomorrow to file a complaint.

The rates here are a little more expensive than at Highland Marina but you get what you pay for. The drive is also a little further, I think it's the first exit for AL if you are driving from Atlanta on 85 South. View the pics of the cabin. We only spent 4 hours in the cabin. But it was much nicer to me than Highland. More modern and spacious as well. I didn't like that I couldn't wake off the deck to the back yard. But the bigger cabins allow you to do so. The good thing was that every cabin allows you direct access to the lake. And yes, you can see the deer playing around first thing in the morning. Please note that the office closes early like 4 (call to ask) in the afternoon. The office is also a store, they have a few snacks, NO COFFEE bring your own if you need it in the morning. They do provide a coffee pot in the cabins. The store has bait, fishing essentials and the usual items (tooth paste, soap, foil) that is typically found in mom and pop type stores on the lake. There are upwards of 20 cabins ranging from 1 - 3 bedrooms. I loved #20. 3 bedrooms a deck that allowed you to walk from the kitchen to the lake. But I should warn you #20 is on the side of the beach area and the playground. So kids will be there all day playing and adults will be there on the beach area doing what grown ups do. Maybe #19 would be a better pick if you want peace and quiet. The first 5 cabins are adjacent to the Marinas office. No worries there because there's a big Lake separating the two. If I planned on having some friends join us, I would rent the first 5 cabins or get #20 and ask 2 other couples to come out. WHY? Because the cabins are not spaced far apart enough to feel comfortable having a party. Now I he gone to cabins that had only a 100 feet between the two, so this is NOT a complaint. But as a good neighbor, I think my family and friends could be a little too loud for the cabin next door. So I would try to at least get 1-3 or 3-5. But for a group of party people get #20. Trust me on this. And thank me later! Not only can you rent the cabins, but you can also rent a boat for about 8 hours or maybe even half a day. Please call and verify all of this. And keep in mind that you have to gas that B back up. So have you at least $50 to gas up your rental upon return. And you also can leave your boat here and pay for storing it here. We only caught 4 fish this time, but I still enjoyed night fishing and cruising on the beautiful waters of West Point Lake.
