This is as good as it gets. I have visited many candy stores. Robin's has amazing homemade candy, funny novelty candies, vintage candies you remember from your childhood and candies from around the world. They have it. My favorite is the homemade chocolate and almond covered Halvah bar. The shop is cute and centrally-located. There is ample parking nearby. The staff is the best. Friendly and cool, and chatty. No pressure. The owner is helpful and informative and gives you the impression that she genuinely wants you in the store. Robin's is a "must visit" anytime you are in the Berkshires. read more

I recently had the misfortune of visiting this adorable candy shop with my mother. You see, I am an emotional support dog,who goes by the name,Spot. I travel with my mom everywhere. This is the first time I was accused of eating candy. You know I am not to be given any. I wasn't able to stay until my mom spoke up. Robin relented but it wasn't a pleasant experience so my grandmother took me out. I cried so she brought me in only to be gotten yelled at for blocking the doorway. So other customers could come in ,there were none to be seen,only my mother who purchased her very EXPENSIVE candy. (prices were hard too see) We took the candy home only to find that they were STALE!!! Went right back to the store and informed Robin about the problem. She stated all she could do was give my mother a store credit. What good would that do when we are going back to CA in a week ARF!!!! read more

We walked in and my son's mask broke. The snotty woman explained that if we bought something she would give us mask for a dollar and would be taken off after we purchased something. We bought something for $250 and she never took anything off because it had to be a certain amount. What kind of business charges for masks and considering the place is WAY overpriced. read more

Imagine a Candy Shop that smells like candy, is stacked floor to ceiling with candy in every color and variety (check out the ceiling-it looks good enough to eat too) and is filled with families deciding between three foot long gummy snakes and peanut butter cups the size of saucers. To top that all off, this store has a friendly owner and team of eager to help local high school kids (I know help is hard to find but what these kids may lack in experience they make up for with a can-do attitude. I like that). Throw in free samples, a toothbrush at check out, and EVERY candy you ever bought with your allowance as a kid. Yes, some sticker shock -- but it's nothing compared to what I spend on a really good coffee and croissant. Now get there, fast! read more

The great selection at this candy shop is completely irrelevant because of two huge problems: 1. RIDICULOUSLY over priced. I'm talking jaw-dropping "are you serious?" It's rare that I am shocked by prices living in the city for this long---but boy Great Barrington's Main St. really knows how to crank up the prices--and Robin's is the perfect example. (i.e. $6 for a tiny chocolate frog)... I've seen 90% of their merchandise in other stores for much lower prices. 2. The owner was condescending and rude. ...to my mother! Not ok. Novalty candy stores are always overpriced and I always go in expecting it to be so but I have never been to one as overpriced as this. I have lived in three very touristy and expensive places in my life (New York, Anchorage and England). Trust me, these prices are not the norm. Super overpriced boutique shop. Spent roughly 100$ on candy on my purchase. They were handing out a special Valentine's Day gift but due to my friend I was with had already made a purchase of 45$ and received theirs before me, they tried to group us together and was not going to allow us to also receive the gift as well. I asked politely and explained it was a separate purchase, I had not even come in the same vehicle as my friend. She ended up letting us receive the gift only after giving me a dirty look. I had also dropped my change from the hundred, 8$ in the tip jar to receive before receiving the kind gesture. read more

I love this place! Every time I'm craving a childhood favorite or looking to try something new I like to stop in here. There's something magical and unique about a family owned candy business, you know? You can feel it in the air - especially now that it's the holiday season. It's like the real world version of the Willy Wonka factory. I love the licorice wheels, the Halloween themed sweets, and the huge collection of chewy candy (my dentist hates me). The fudge killed me with its smoothness and melt-in-your-mouth-ness. It's a perfect place for a date with someone you can make puns about how sweet they are, or a family trip. It might cost more than Walmart or Dylan's but it's not some tacky chain or billionaire-owned franchise, it's a home to handmade treasures that you get to enjoy while also knowing that you're helping a small business out. You get what you pay for - cheap is cheap, and high quality is high quality. read more

We saw Robin's featured on the "Barefoot Contessa's" Holiday Special and made a trip to what Ina Garten calls "The place for candy. " Robin was in the Shop on the day we visited. She was delightful, friendly and helpful as we chose from the huge selection of treats and old-fashioned toys we remember from our childhood (real silly putty, gumby, pop rocks, and Bit-o-Honey for our mom). We were offered samples from the incredible licorice selection and left with a bag full of fresh fudge, sour belts, local truffles-- and a complimentary toothbrush plus a "round tuit.!" We are already looking forward to our next visit. Don't got to the Berkshires without including a trip to this amazing Shop! read more

Robins Is a fun old candy shop. I go here after skiing. I get the black licorice wheels and I pull the wheels apart to eat them. I also like the fruit salad. The jelly bean dispenser is very cool. The giant gummy snake is awesome. I really like the section of all licorice in different shapes and sizes. The staff is very friendly. They help you when you need help They have great mochi. Was I stingy with stars in my review? Guess what, I was even more stingy with my kid when I brought him there for a fun treat. I had to tell him "no" repeatedly (e.g., $4.99 lollipop; that's singular: lolli.pop), and check the prices of each item before he put one in his shiny red pail. Outrageously expensive. He walked out with a small amount that cost nearly $12. Robin, you were perfectly pleasant in your dark cramped store with your overpriced familiar candy, cheerfully offering hand-sanitizer. This is one of my favorite candy shops I've ever walked into. The curation of new, old and kitschy candy is incredible. What a treat!

If i could give less stars i would. Candy i could buy at the grocery store for 50 cents cost over $2 here. The worst though was the wasps that covered the entrance. They had literally burrowed their way into large lollipops and were eating the candy from inside the wrapper. And they were flying around inside the large (unwrapped) chocolate candy display. Our family visits the "Great Barrington Triangle" in June or July every year 1) the Saturday Farmers Market for organic veggies, 2) Babba Louies for sourdough pizza and 3) Robin's Candy for a little guilty pleasure (hey- we had a salad with the Pizza). Sea Salt caramel Fudge with Pecans is my "go-to." Other family favs include Robin's local truffles, intense selection of everything gummy-- oh, and licorice, licorice and more licorice. Get the soft serve frozen yogurt if it's in season- mine was whipped with peanut butter, dark chocolate and coconut.... AH! Young staff-- I think some were still training although everyone was really nice and found answers when they didn't know themselves. We didn't see Robin but she must see the world through rainbow colored glasses to have built such a fun and colorful Shop. I'm guessing this place will get my fifth star once the staff is more seasoned. read more

ADAM: Robin's Candy Shop, in the funkily quaint town of Great Barrington, might be heaven on Earth, at least for my inner child who squeaked with excitement the second we walked in. It fulfilled my Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory candy store fantasy. Ya know what I'm talking about, right? The candy store that Charlie walks by and lusts over on his jaunt home from school? Owned by the creepy, prophetic, death-staring candyman? If Charlie Bucket came here, he would blow his wad. In fact, he'd forget all about Wonka and that stupid contest. He'd stuff himself silly on Robin's World's Largest gummy bear (a two handed affair), or huge selection of licorice candies, or a rainbow of M&Ms, or a 9lb Nestle Crunch bar, or even lollipops encasing an insect of your choice. Well, maybe he'd omit that last option. But he'd at least think it was pretty cool. This place is a dreamworld. If you're ever in Great Barrington, do your inner boy or girl a favor and lose yourself in this fantasy land for a little while. Move over Willy Wonka, there's a new candy-lady on the block, and we had a wonderful time meeting her. The woman in the store pretty much snatched a roll of chocolate Neccos out of my hand stating that they were a collectors item and cost $20. So I guess I didn't look like I could afford $20. I should've bought all of the Neccos candy to prove a point. Never going in here again. Terrible way to act with people coming in to the shop. Oh...and make the "no food allowed" sign bigger too!! My daughters didn't see the sign...my daughters wouldn't have come in with ice cream if they had seen it. read more

Willy Wonka must have learned his craft here. You haven't been to a Candy Shop till you've been to Robin's. We have visited candy Shops all over the world- and thought some were pretty nice-- but none compare to the curated, beautifully displayed, selections and the warm, friendly staff. The Owner is hands on- always ready to make suggestions, store our left-over pizza behind the counter to leave our hands free while we filled bags with treats- and set our dripping umbrella in a drying basket. (The whole experience restored our faith in old-fashioned customer service!). A lot of other reviews have said it-- we will too. Go out of your way to visit Robin's Candy! What an amazing balance of trendy and nostalgic candies. The store is reminiscent of my childhood but also offers gourmets treats as far as the eye can see. A truly wonderful place, and the customer service was wonderful. My husband's service dog (a Great Dane for mobility) handily escorted him safely through this gem of a store. read more

My son (6 years old) and I went into Robin's candy and was told by by the younger woman with glasses who worked there that we needed to use the hand sanitizer at the front of the store. I told her that we just sanitized our hands as we walked in with our own sanitizer (our hands were literally still wet with sanitizer). I followed my son as he walked around and was told again by the same woman that we needed to go to the front and sanitize our hands. I told her that we just left the Siam square Thai food next door and sanitized our hands before we came in to the candy store and she said ok you still need to sanitize with our sanitizer. I then had to disclose my sons personal medical information by telling her that my son is allergic to certain products and that we just sanitized before we came in. We were at the pediatrician a few weeks before because my sons hands kept cracking and bleeding and the pediatrician told me he could only use certain products on his hands due to allergies. I then proceeded and kept looking around. The same lady again told me we needed to go to the front and sanitize our hands , at this point I feel like I'm being harassed. Might I add in that I'm 5 months pregnant and prefer to use my own products on my body for the safety of my unborn baby. Now another older woman who I believe is the owner or manager appears from behind the counter and tells me we need to go use the sanitizer at the front of the store. I tell her the same thing , we just sanitized our hands before we walked in and her response was "but you just touched our door and need to sanitize again". I told her no thank you, we just did. At this point I would give up my pregnancy Chocolate cravings if it meant I never had to deal with such an invasive and harassing company. I understand it is your suggestion to recommend that we sanitize our hands (and we did before we walked in) but you do not own your customers. I picked my child up and walked out and will never ever return here again. I will also be contacting the franchise cooperate office. read more

Rudest workers ever!!! Bought my children ice cream at a store near Robin"s and then my children saw Robin's and wanted to purchase candy. We were asked to leave the store and return when they were finished with their ice cream even though Robin's sells ice cream! We will NEVER step foot in this establishment again! read more

Took my kids pocket money! My 10 year daughter was on a playdate and was allowed to go into Robins ( I never go in as I know it is OVERPRICED). With her meager amount of money she decided to purchase some candy. She saw a sign that said, take a bag' so she could fill it up with her choice. After selecting a few pieces and getting to the register, she was told it would be $10. I believe it was just less than a LB and had the usual chewy snakes, gummy bears. Candy that should have cost $2.50 MAX. My advice is not to go there, but if you do you had better keep your eye on the prices as it at least 500% above cost. My daughter feels embarrassed and 'cheated' (her words) as she had not anticipated it would be so expensive, I explained to her that this isn't your typical candy store and we would not return. read more

Great place to window shop but I would give Robin's negative stars if possible; the chocolates in the case look great but buyer beware! For $36.99 a pound you get stale, lackluster fillings covered in waxy, oxidized low quality "chocolate", (similar to the off brand chocolate sold around Easter) absolutely terrible. I love candy so this was a monumental disappointment; hope the ants at the landfill like it. read more

While the selection of candy is great at Robin's, the prices are so shamefully overinflated, that it is impossible for me to shop there. M&M's $16.00 a pound, small children's and novelty candy items like Pez and wax lips, and lollipops are 2x more at Robin's than around the corner at The Gifted Child. I mentioned the prices to someone who said, "it's sad, but the owner just doesn't care." That is really sad for a small town like ours : ( The specialty chocolates are probably more worth the price, but everything else in the store is priced so high that it feels positively rude. read more

My wife and I, east village New York City residents, happened upon Robins last night after a nice dinner at Castle Street Cafe. We had a coupon for free yogurt at Robin's that we got at GB9 so we walked in. We were immediately drawn to the great assortment of candy and I was particularly drawn to the licorice. My wife loved the chocolate covered almonds. So we both got bags and picked our favorite items to semi fill the bags. I got my free yogurt (just a little sample honestly) and walked out and left my wife to pay. A few minutes later she came out and told me that it cost $31.00. We were both outraged. We live in New York City where everything is over priced but Robins is more $$ than any such store in NYC. And what I realized was that they don't post the price per pound. When I went back into the store to inquire if there was an error and asked the price per pound for the licorice, the sales girl said it was $19.00 and the chocolate covered almonds are $32.00 per pound. Seriously? Admittedly the licorice are really good, and I enjoyed it. The almonds were so so. One of the type of almonds was spicy, so definitely not to our liking. Robins is a tourist trap and I think locals know it but those of us who are just visiting Great Barrington are taken in. Shame on them for not posting prices but shame on us too for not asking. No more Robins ever. Be warned. read more
