If you are looking for a place that goes beyond just physical techniques, this is it. Kovar's focuses heavily on building character and self-discipline. Over the past year, we've seen a massive boost in our child's confidence, which has translated into how they carry themselves outside of the dojo. One of the most valuable aspects of the program is the emphasis on anti-bullying. The instructors don't just teach kids how to protect themselves; they teach them the importance of standing up for others and de-escalating situations with integrity. The teachers are phenomenal--they are patient, encouraging, and truly know how to engage with younger children to keep them focused while having fun. We are so grateful to be part of this community and highly recommend Kovar's to any parent looking to empower their kids!

My pre-teen daughter has been attending Innovative Martial Arts for just over a year now, and I'm…read moreso grateful we found this school. Her first experience in martial arts was when she was two years old; she attended Primetime Martial Arts in San Jose. We loved the close-knit family atmosphere there, and we wanted that for her again when we moved back to Roseville when she was four. Once businesses began to open again after the Covid shutdown, we signed her up for a trial at Kovar's. I'm sure it has its benefits, but it wasn't a good fit for us. It felt too commercial with the instructors wearing microphones to project their voices. The atmosphere was just too business-like and not a warm and welcoming environment. Later we tried a BJJ studio in Rocklin on the recommendation of an acquaintance. I don't remember the name of the school, and it did have a better overall feel than Kovar's, but it still wasn't quite right for us. I don't remember any overt negatives about it; I just knew after the first visit that it wasn't what we were looking for, and my daughter immediately expressed the same as we left. After a fair amount of searching online, I found Innovated Martial Arts in Rocklin. We signed up my daughter for a trial, and she decided very quickly that it was the right fit for her. Mr. Nunneley has a great team of instructors; though, I have to say both he and Mr. Watson are truly excellent. They bring to class a sense of calm and are diligent in providing guidance to the students and correcting their form when appropriate; I very much appreciate that. My daughter is naturally shy and quiet, but Innovative MA has been a comfortable place for her to be vulnerable and learn since the beginning. Over the last year, she has noticeably grown more confident and self-assured, and I attribute much of this to what she's learned at Innovative MA. She's since progressed to greenbelt and sees herself staying with Innovative MA at least until she moves away for college in the future. I strongly recommend Innovative Martial Arts to anyone in search of a martial arts school for their child, and I sing their praises to all of my friends and family. Thank you, Mr. Nunneley, Mr. Watson, and the entire Innovative team for all that you've done and continue to do to teach my little girl!

We're regulars at the 5:30 AM Zombie Class -- yes, it's early, but 100% worth it! The atmosphere here is welcoming, supportive, and full of positive energy. Everyone we've trained with has been incredibly patient, caring, and fun to roll with. The instructors are fantastic across the board -- Keith goes above and beyond, dedicating a ton of his personal time to help us grow. David is calm, patient, and excellent at breaking things down, and I've really appreciated Alex's wisdom and thoughtful insights as well. However, the details of instruction and the friendliness of everyone at Infinite, from the owner to beginners, is unmatched. Gustavo (owner/instructor) continues to compete and master his own craft while stressing the importance of technique over brute force to students. I appreciate this approach as an older practitioner, especially after training overseas at an MMA gym which had the opposite mentality. Gustavo is also supportive of kids and adults who want to compete and does his best to be mat-side with them at tournaments. Regarding the kids classes, I also appreciate the few minutes he spends a with them at the beginning of class talking about their day and trying to connect BJJ lessons to proper behavior off the mat.

Deceptive business practices!…read more We've had two children enrolled in his program for over six months who progressed out of his Basic Training program and earned their yellow belts. And we just recently withdrew from his program. Here's all you need to know before you decide to enroll your children in Mr. Weithington's Taekwondo: When your children sign up, they start in Basic Training. This is a ~6 month program where the children learn the basics of TKD. We were paying $450/month (for both kids) plus belt testing fees which for both children was approx. $100 every few months. This is a LOT of money but overall the program was reasonably well managed. Then after a few months, Mr. Weithington is going to reach out to you to schedule an in-person meeting so you can learn more about joining the Masters program and setting your children's Black belt goals, oh and also he wants to save you money! A quick google search about TKD and these programs suggest they are just a giant money-grab and to fast-track black belts. Needless to say we deferred on attending this meeting. What Mr. Weithington does not tell you upfront when you join Basic Training is that his Masters club is not optional. It's mandatory! And he wants more of your money! In our case, for our children to stay enrolled in his program he demanded $1,748 and to increase our monthly rate to $550/month for 35 months. Our children were doing great as yellow belts, and ready to test for their next belt, and out of the blue one day he notified my wife that they were not eligible to test for their next belt unless we joined his Masters program and paid him off. Needless to say we promptly withdrew our children from his program. He preaches integrity and ethics every day in his studio but fails to walk the talk in his personal dealings with his students and families. Avoid this program and his bait and switch.

She was always told that she was one of the top student, little did I know that she was feeling very overwhelmed to the point that she would feel sick every time she would enter the parking lot, she kept this to herself because she did not want to disappoint us. recently she let us know that she was being light by the owner and in front of the whole blk belt class that she was no longer top leader. Family Teakwondo Plus is not the place or the people we thought they were, my child heard from another student that the owners were saying thing behind her back, this caused more stress, when I went to ask them about this, the owner was not going to gave it and turned it back on to the child, I was so beside myself that I stated maybe she should not teach so many classes for this dojo the owner said that's probably best. ever since this meeting , my child has been ignored and treated like she was worth nothing. my child decided that she did not deserve to be treated with such disrespect and chose to leave. There is so much more to this story but shared just a little. bottom line they will treat you with open arms at firs, take advantage of of you later & disrespect you if you bring anything to there attention if you dot like something they are doing!!! Don't waste your mone, they pass students to the next level even when they are not ready, the staff is so low that it's students teaching students and some getting paid under the table for pennies ( child labor law) It's all about the money and not the true teaching of Taekwondo, I do have to say 3 years ago it was a good place to be, now, not so. much and I 100% can't recommend them. only if the UTWA really knew what really is going on. FYI a lot of other students have also left. That's it, that's my rant!

Their goal is to make everyone the best they can be. I'm going to tell you right now, don't learn a martial art if you don't want to do the work. Senior Master Keller has been an enormous influential teacher in the martial arts community for a long time. He has created the entire program you will learn with move combinations that are more dynamic than the common set of steps, kicks and strikes. I also appreciate that you won't learn harder skills until you have learned the basics. Fun things they include for you as a member of their schools. They have potluck belt ceremonies, tournaments, game nights, and they are always thinking of more events that bring the community together. Now let's see some skills those kids have learned. Here are a few pictures I have taken of their moves.

They called and said that our child can do a 30 day trial…read moreperiod with no fee besides a $1 enrollment- but in fact this is not a free 30 days or a free trial. They just don't bill you for the first 30 days. It's very confusing on how they word this so pay attention and make sure you have it in writing. The contract is long and wordy but they make you believe you get a trial period when in fact they are planning on charging almost $200 for the month the moment you start. They also say they will take ages 3+. There is a reason no other martial arts classes will take these ages. The kids are just too young and not able to focus. The classes were the same thing every day just in different order so my child never really learned anything other than to say "yes sir". When I emailed their billing office I was denied my free trial and was charged the $190 for the "free trial". They also sent a rude email with that. Please see the screenshot of the email below. In response to the email, "master keller" was not present when the pricing was explained because per his wife that did explain it "he just doesn't do the billing/registration". This is something that needs to be more clear because it comes off as a scam.
