There are tapes, CDs, records, books, magazines, 45s, 12 inch singles, collectible items, and a great collection of note worthy new arrival records displayed on the wall. In my opinion it is the best record store in Madison not just because of the store and stock but because they aren't money hungry and trying to rip you off. They have the fairest prices and I love that they understand the importance of taking out the record, looking at it, and playing it before you buy. The turntables they provide are very helpful. That didn't turn out to be the case, but I did end up finding several used records and a couple sealed records new and original, so it was a worthwhile trip overall. Nice store, with a ton of inventory, but the prices are a bit high. I could have left with a box full of stuff if the prices were a bit more reasonable. If they'd been the rumored prices I'd have left with multiple boxes. I suppose this way I left stuff behind that gives me an excuse to go back and check the place out again. With as much inventory as the store had I'm surprised the prices weren't lower just to get rid of the stuff. Lots of great records though, and the condition of the regular priced records seems to be good. Owner seemed like a friendly enough guy, certainly very knowledgeable. Will have to try him as a luthier as well, which seemed to be maybe half the business. Definitely multiple reasons to make the trip to this small town. One annoying thing is the records were packed in so tight it was difficult to browse through them. I just pulled a stack out from the front and put them aside so it was easier to look, but my dad got so frustrated he stopped looking at the records completely and wanted to leave way before I was ready to. If there's that much inventory, lower the prices a bit and move some stuff. It's not a personal collection, it's a store, right? Overall though definitely worth the trip for records and probably for a luthier as well. I imagine I'll be making the trip again when the opportunity arises.

We had a few drinks and my buddy got to talking about the place he purchased that council, and records and we decided to head down and check it out. The owner, Steve, treated us like kings, he told great stories and helped my pick out a counsel I could ship home, and them he kicked in several free records. I couldn't believe the knowledge and hospitality. Not only will I be back, but I highly recommend you stop in if you are in Maddison. The place is unique and definitely "Groovy"!!
