A SCARY TOOL Grandpa was a stoic man who never talked about his feelings. Still, I could tell he was sad if he lit a cigarette and poured a whiskey; happy if a cigar and a cognac. Last night, my boys sent a cryptic message: "Underground party. Bring a cigar. Cash is king. We're all gonna get in trouble. Hehe." I said nothing to my sweetie. I'm new to the world of cigar smoking and came to Robusto. There was a slender dark-haired gentleman lounging in a leather chair. I'm sure I looked like a clueless fuck because he cooly got up, approached me, and started giving me advice. Sam said he was the owner, walked me to the humidor, and helped me pick out a top-end stick. My comments that it felt good upon squeezing and that the label was pretty reaffirmed to him that I was a cf when it came to cigars. As he swiped my card, Sam asked if I knew the proper way to cut a stick before lighting. I didn't want to admit I use my teeth, so I mentally ransacked my home and all I could think of was my sweetie's professional-grade toenail clippers. The horror on Sam's face melted into pity as he pulled out a new cigar cutter and threw it in the bag. Next, he walked back to the humidor room and grabbed a house cigar. Both were complimentary...so I could properly cut, discern, and enjoy. When I got home, I played with my cutter. It's a pretty cool gadget that works like a sharp guillotine to chop off the tip. Robusto is a very nice cigar lounge. Robustos the best cigar spot in this are including pasadena. Lots of regulars. Im slowly becoming one on saturdays. The prices are on the lower end for lounges. Remember kids, cigar lounges are more expensive than non-cigar places. Selection is also above average. They do have the run of the mill brands but with two notable boutique and some borderline boutique/popular ones. My favorite boutique is now: y Black Label Trading Company. They produce small batches and that preserves quality. The Last Rites is my favorite new cigar that wont kill your pocket. Ballmoral. This is not boutique. Very nice stick. Very cool spot, nice unique selection of cigars in a large humidor. Soft drinks and coffee available for sale. Nice comfy chairs and TV, also a nice large table for cards or laptops. My first time here, was invited by a couple of friends. The place is very laid back and quiet. The owner Sam was very helpful and informative. The patrons who came into this shop all know each other, there was a strong sense of community here. Everyone was friendly and we all had some great conversations and laughs. The cigar selection was great, smoked a Casa Cuba Flor Fina Robusto and Arturo Fuente Short Story Perfecto. The other brands I saw available were Oliva, La Flor Dominicana, RoMa Craft, My Father, Rocky Patel, Romeo y Julieta, Ashton, Montecristo and much more. They also had a great selection of lighters, cutters and ash trays. I was able to watch a soccer game too, everyone there seemed to love soccer as well. I will definitely be coming back, by far my favorite little cigar lounge. read more

This is a wonderful place to enjoy the cigar experience. Sam the shop owner is very friendly and approachable, his selection of cigars is excellent from the main producers to the boutique lines. The only comment I would suggest is that he post the strength of his cigars next to the price, this would be helpful for those unfamiliar with the limited boutique brands. Most of his cigars are toros with the larger ring gauges. He sells soft drinks and cigar accessories. No alcohol beverages. The lounge area is comfortable with good ventilation. Some of the leather seats show signs of character wear but it is not an issue, they are soft and relaxing. Sam keeps the lounge tidy and clean. The decor is by intention Cuban rustic, nothing fancy but I personally appreciate this because it gives off an unpretentious vibe. The clients are friendly, I had the chance of meeting three fellow cigar lovers of diverse backgrounds. I still remember their names and hope to see them again the next time I stop by. Cigar prices are average, expect to pay $12 to $18 for a well known label, they also have other sticks that sell below and above that range but I can't comment on those. There's an unwritten rule there, talk about anything but religion and politics. read more

Walked into the store tonight to find a group watching the Kings game on TV (great first impression for this Kings fan ). Sam was seated with the group but was quick to offer his assistance. The selection of cigars in the walk in humidor looked good and the prices were reasonable. I selected one "award-winning" Nicaraguan cigar and a 2nd cigar advertised as "exclusive" to Robusto Cigars. I smoked the "exclusive" one when I got home and REALLY enjoyed it. Will definitely go back...maybe check out a little hockey and enjoy a smoke. read more

As a newer cigar smoker cigar lounges can be really intimidating, I've been to a shop in pasadena who I won't name (they're near old town) and the vibe was very clickish and not welcoming. So I found myself looking for reviews on yelp, to my surprise this place had a great following. So it's Monday night and I find myself walking into Robusto Cigars, immediately as I walk in I'm greeted by Sam the owner. He suggested some sticks and after purchasing them (his prices are fantastic) we sat down to smoke. Everyone that was in the shop smoking was very friendly and talkative no snobs here! The tv was playing hockey and then sports, the place had great ventilation and really nice community lighters (my expensive xikar lighter decided to not work) overall I found my new spot and I will be back later this week for a great smoke and even better conversation. read more

Robusto Cigars is just what we needed here in the SGV. The owner "Sam" is continually making improvements at the store. He has been open about 3-4 months and has been making improvements ever since he started. He certainly has determination to succeed and I praise him for that. I have seen this store grow from an empty building to a comfortable and friendly lounge. The choices of cigars on hand grow as he fills his shelves. He has quite a selection for most all tastes. I took advantage of his "locker rental special" and enjoy fine cigars on a regular basis. He has a drink chiller and offers up most favorites as bottled Starbucks frappuccinos, Coke, 7-UP, Rock-star,Bottled water, Diet Coke, Sometimes he even has juices on hand. Fresh coffee daily, as well as either Hot or Ice cold drinking water is always available too. Although I am not a huge sports fan, he often mutes his big screen TV and has some great Jazz music playing in the background. He says the owner used an expletive when their intention was to sit and have a smoke. I was present when this incident happened. His review is completely FALSE. This place had a very cozy, study type feel, definitely a gentleman's den. 2 coolers that are stocked with whatever poison you desire. Humidor was... Wow. I had never been to such a well stocked, well kept room since I had visited Vegas. The owner came in to assist us with any questions and even made some helpful suggestions as well.
